Right, I don't know where to start, we were supposed to be spending Christmas with family in London and wanted to take our minds off where we should be. Annie, from first contact, met every single one of our requirements for a family Christmas away from home. The house and garden is so beautiful, stately and homely and Paul, Annie and their charming son Jared could not have been more welcoming, it was better than being one of the family, we felt like honoured guests. We adored the Alpacas and could not believe how close we could get to them, lots of bunnies, a lovely inviting swimming pool, amazing varied breakfasts and even Christmas Dinner and Christmas tea with all the trimmings. Great conversations when wanted but also a lot of privacy if we needed it. Easy trips to Hobbiton, Waitomo, Raglan and the beautiful Hamilton Gardens, close to great restaurants and shops. Any problems solved in an instant, I really feel we made good friends. Out of all the many great hotels in different countries we have stayed in I'll never forget the care, consideration and love we felt at the magical cherry tree manor.

Just outside Hamilton. Everything was splendid. Our host Annie gave welcome and given access to house at any hour. Our dog was treated as a friend. Our room looked out over an orchard and swimming pool. Guests are welcome to sit in large lounge. Breakfast was a treat with bacon and eggs-and selection of breads. Annie joined us and we were told about the house history and its beautiful cherry blossom. Met and fed the Llamas making a memorable visit. Thank you Annie.

Delightfully refreshing to stay in the peaceful surrounds of a garden for all seasons. It is not manicured, it is like home, natural and inviting. Spacious, light and airy rooms overlooking the garden and pool. I have traveled extensively and it is rare to find hosts like Paul & Annie who also join you for breakfast and a chat. The spacious living areas, veranda for shade on a hot day or for a drink in the cool of the evening are part of a very enjoyable experience. Simply lovely !

I had a wonderful day in English Cherry Tree Manor. Hostess Annie prepared me a very beautiful and delicate Traditional English High Tea! After the High Tea, Host Paul showed us their great and large garden which was built up little by little for 23 years! Highly highly recommend English Cherry Tree Manor and you will see many precious plants in the large garden which you might not find in many places! They do provide exquisite accommodation B & B with each bedroom decorated by different window ---- garden view plus seperate bathroom and should have a try!

The drive way would look beautiful when in flower. Could do with a gardener to go and tidy up a lot of the over grown plants. The area for afternoon tea under a gazebo could do with a good sweep, not that appealing. Nice swimming pool for the summer. Very average high tea, very average service, very average setting. Not best value for money

Yes the gardens and setting are very nice however !!!!!! We went solely for the High Tea (can only prepay as you book on line) the chap who one assumes was the host popped us in a Gazebo with two others and offered a choice of two only teas. Then the wait began four others arrived and one pot of tea was placed on the table and the chap disappeared. Luckily the other people were good company. A full 30 minutes passed with no communication from the chap, 45 mins passed and I rang their phone number as this group were getting annoyed (Politely ) I asked why such a long wait and could we at least have some more tea.. Meantime one of the ladies ventures out to another group who had arrived before us who were also waiting patiently. The chap had dashed out to a food store for more supplies but did not bother to convey this little matter to us. The owner finally appeared (very nice woman) apologized brought the food and had to be reminded that more tea was required. I'm sure you're sick of this long epistle lots more to say. Just DO NOT go there.

Response from ECTMPO, Manager at English Cherry Tree Manor
Responded 23 Mar 2019
High Tea is traditionally a social affair. Because of that and the fact that the art of conversation and being civil to others is clearly on the decline in society, we try to sit strangers together. There is fair amount of resistance to that idea, but in every case without exception, people end up really enjoying such encounters. Ironically, social media has made us less social: people readily denounce and ridicule others without trying to understand a differing point of view. Let’s be less judgmental and let’s create a more harmonious world.
