Detailed Reviews
If rustic and homely is your thing then Fossil Bay Lodges is where you need to be!
Me and my boyfriend travelled here in Autumn last year, although it was a while ago I would vouch that your experience would be just as pleasant now.
Each cabin was a different colour and a different style, but all contained a double sized bed, dressing tables and draws, a couch, mirror and wireless Internet access for no extra cost. I would describe the cabin as cute and beachy, a decent sized porch was attached to our cabin with shade, table and seating. Rose bushes and flowers grew around it, and trinkets were neatly placed around the ledges such as shells and wind chimes.
Although toilets and showers were in the main building, separate from our rooms, they were very clean. The kitchen was a shared kitchen but had everything we needed for every meal, pots, pans, microwave, fridge, coffee and tea, and all cutlery. There is also a shared lounge with a fireplace, Internet access, couches and books. There was a large collection of DVDs we could help ourselves to watch, also at no extra cost. (Although remember to bring your laptop as there is no TV or DVD player in your room).
Staff were very friendly, but he had a second job at the local Cinema so wasn't always readily available if we had a problem. (But we did not have any problems!) We had originally booked 2 rooms as a friend was travelling with us but at late notice he could not make it, yet without a stir the owner gave us a refund on the room even though it was stated no refund would be given, which was really kind of him!
It was a 10 minute walk from the main town, and a 20 minute walk from the ferry docks, so we had no need for extra costs on buses or car hire. We spent a lot of time in our cabin, watching DVDs and relaxing. It was such a nice and cosy place to stay we did not want to leave.
We had such a great time, next time we travel to Waiheke Island we wouldn't stay anywhere else.

This place is great,it's away from the main areas and is very quiet, the cabins are nice and cosy, and the main lounge is very spacious and comfortable, there are full kitchen and bathroom facilities. The bed was very comfortable to sleep on. I stayed for 2 nights and would not hesitate to return again. Because the lodge does not have that many rooms, the place should never be crowded,so it's perfect for people who don't like crowded lodges.

What a beautiful place! If you're looking for a relaxing, peaceful getaway, surrounded by nature then this is the place for you! The owner Mike is a really kind genuine man who couldn't have been more accommodating. If you're wanting to meet a lot of people and party I would recommend staying elsewhere. This is ideal for couples wanting a romantic break or a person who wants some time to themselves as we didn't really meet many other people. We stayed in the blue cottage and it is a little like 'glamping', there is only one shower and toilet between the cottages however we never really found ourselves waiting to use them.
The only downside for us was that the rooms got very hot so perhaps a fan might be a nice addition to the cottage - and bring some mozzie spray! That can't be avoided through and did not affect how much we enjoyed our time here.
Thanks again and we look forward to returning in the future.

We came to Waiheke for the weekend and stayed at Fossil Bay Lodge. Such a great place and the host is super helpful. The yurts (glamping tents) are fantastic. We had the yurt with a private shower / toilet and outside kitchen ... so much fun as we also hired e-bikes for the day and biked around Waiheke. Fossil Bay Lodge is just a short walk from Oneroa, where there are lots of lovely cafes and restaurants. (Try The Local for yummy burgers too!) Really well worth staying here and having fun doing something different:)

The location of Fossil Bay Lodge is perfect - only 10 mins walk to Oneroa! The tents are isolated but close, well set up, and private. We loved our stay it was so comfortable. It was our first experience glamping but we would do it again! The kitchen and conservatory are lovely in the evening also. I would stay again for sure!

We liked that we were surrounded by wildlife, even the bugs it means you are in nature and the tent has mozzie net doors and the option to use an automatic bug repellent. I recommend keeping all food in the shared area as it attracts unwanteds into the tent. Tent 2 is beside the walkway if you are making a choice, Tent 1 3 and 4 you have more privacy. There are wood pigeon, Tui, ducks, chicken, geese, doves, a baby bunny and ponds, plus a fejoa tree and fig tree outside out tent. Communal area is lovely and very clean and tidy and you can do the headlands walk from right outside the gate which is lovely. Comfy and well appointed and private we enjoyed our stay. Thank you

We stayed for 2 nights in one of the glamping tents along with 2 friends who stayed in another tent. It was spotlessly clean, had its own ensuite bathroom and was in a great location. Gorgeous touches such as a vase of flowers, cute decor and linen, lamps, cell phone charger etc. Very thoughtfully put together. We loved it and would recommend it highly. A lovely 10 -15 min walk to Oneroa via the beach.

We stayed for four nights in the blue cabin and couldn't have loved it anymore. I had to drag my partner away to catch the ferry back!! Cabin and kitchen was spotlessly clean at all times. The lodge is peaceful and close to the town. The manager matt was a fantastic host who takes great pride in fossil bay. Only wish we could have stayed longer. Will recommend to anyone who visits New Zealand.

We wanted something a little out of the ordinary to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, and Fossil Bay Lodge was a perfect choice.
The tent provide a lovely taste of glamping and the outdoor shower/toilet is a great innovation.
If you are looking for accommodation that is unique but comfortable, look no further.

Great location, short walk to beach and not far from eateries etc. we loved the tent and even with the crazy weather it was weather proof and comfy! Loved the special little details like fresh flowers. The bed was so comfy and the sheets eye very clean. The bathroom was good and extra toilet and shower were in the common room if needed. The group kitchen was a great bonus we had our own shelf in the fridge etc.
