Very nice and friendly couple. We received a warm welcome. We had nice views of the garden and the sea. Large room with comfortable bed. We got great tips on places to visit. At breakfast we received fresh eggs from their own hens.

We weren't lucky enough to catch any whitebait on the opening weekend, however the food we were served was fantastic. The beach room we stayed in had amazing views of the ocean. Paul and TJ were outgoing, friendly, and very accommodating.
Love the wild west coast and we will be back

Brackish Beach-- we had inadvertently booked right before the Hokitika Wild Foods Festival. We received a warm welcome from TJ who provided some beverages, and she gave us great tips about the beach, town and area. We also communicated some needs beforehand, and they were prompt and attentive. It was great to chat with Paul in the morning. Two of the suites are beach-facing, but if you have 3 people who don't want to share beds, a 3rd suite is available that is front-facing of the property. The backyard garden was full bloom of maroon colored hydrangeas, and the walk to the beach is an adventure. Very pleasant stay. Thank you!

We stayed for two nights and felt extremely comfortable and welcomed by TJ and Paul. They were very friendly and helpful, and gave us some great tips on things to see and do. The room was nice - it’s well worth getting the sea view room with the private deck area. It’s a short drive to Hokitika, which is a nice enough town to potter around for an afternoon. The best bit however is the nearby beach, accessible by a short walk or a very short paddle boat ride (which is a great adventure!) We had a great afternoon on an absolutely deserted section of beach, sunbathing and looking for greenstone.

The breakfast was simple but tasty - the fresh eggs were a highlight. We also enjoyed meeting Rogan and Josh, the pet sheep, who were very friendly! I think our only slight hiccup was that the fire alarm in our room went off at 5am for no apparent reason... luckily it only lasted a few seconds but it was a bit of a rude awakening! Other than that, a great stay and somewhere I would definitely recommend.

The house is beautiful, right in front of the beach with a lovely view of the ocean!
Rooms are big enough, bed is very comfortable, very good and clean bathrooms with a good shower.
Breakfast is good, with fresh fruit, yoghurt, granola, soft boiled eggs, bread, and very good coffee made by Paul.
Paul and TJ, the hosts, are lovely people and very welcoming. They make you feel at home. They greet you with a welcoming drink and appetizers (including very fresh whitebait). They give you good advice on the region and even booked us dinner at a restaurant nearby.
It’s located between greymouth and Hokitika, so good for getting to know both places. Close enough to restaurants.

TJ was so helpful, friendly, and a great host at Brackish Beach. The home is in a pretty spot with a water view. It was lovely to have the slider open and use of the patio outside, but without screening, bugs tended to come in. It would have been so comfortable to have slept with a window open to get some cool air, but not possible because of insects. TJ goes out of her way to provide a wonderful breakfast for her guests. We had a private bath which was nice, but on the small side. Hokitika turned out to be a wonderful surprise - such a cute little town to visit.

On our second night in NZ, after taking the train from Christchurch to Greymouth, we spent a night at Brackish Beach. We opted for the “gourmet dinner” which was cooked by TJ and hosted by Paul. This was an excellent meal, one of the best we had in NZ. Setting was quaint and quiet, but we did have a fun visit with the local Wikkas. Did not make it down to the beach to see the little blue penguins because of rain. Highly recommended!

From arrival to departure the whole Brackish Beach experience was a wonderful & relaxing treat.
TJ & Paul were excellent hosts... great fun & conversation when we were with them & respectful of our own space as well. Our room & ensuite was well appointed & clean & we couldn’t help but relax with the ocean views & sounds & native bird life to watch. It was relaxing looking for driftwood & greenstone treasures on their beach & soaking in their outdoor claw bath overlooking the ocean & sunset. And to top it off TJ & Paul offered decadent meal options & drinks so it was like being at a restaurant as well.
We stayed 3 nights & enjoyed every minute.
Will definitely be back. Thanks to you both.

This B&B is more than a normal B&B. Paul and TJ are ever so nice, welcoming and friendly. The rooms are brand new and cosy. We even were upgraded to a front room with a lovley beach view from the porch where Paul and TJ served us a welcome wine. TJ is a very good cook so we even had a wonderful meal at this lovely place after a romantic walk on the beach... for breakfast fresh eggs from the chicken in the garden... wjat else could one wish for?? everything just perfect. Thank you TJ and Paul!

After a long drive from Abel Tasman this was a great place to rest for the night. Paul and TJ made us very welcome and greeted us with a cold beer. Cheers! We had requested dinner in the evening and TJ, a trained chief made us a lovelly meal. The room had everything we needed and very clean and inviting. There's even table footy available on the deck. If you want to talk cricket, Paul's your man. Breakfast was also very good.
