In Athens, I have also stayed at the Coral Hotel. My review, to compare, can be found on TripAdvisor. Pros: - Bathroom amenities: Soap bar, shampoo, shower gel, vanity kit, shower cap, sewing kit, hairdryer (1200w). - Complimentary bottles of water on first day. - Free in-room WiFi (good speeds, approx. 59Mbps). - Good sleep: comfortable bed and generally quiet (N.B. As others have mentioned here, as the hotel is on a main road, make sure you ask for a room at the rear). - Modern & clean room. Cons: - I would recommend to bring your own soap. The soap bar supplied made the hands incredibly dry. More than any other hotel I have stayed in. - As others have mentioned here, the breakfast is not at a standard of a 4-star hotel. I would put it as the equivalent of a 3-star. N.B. Another review mentioned there were USB ports in the room. Our room did not have these.…
We were in Athens Avenue for 7 nights. From the moment I called to ask about availabilities and prices till the moment we checked out we were positively impressed by the personnel! All of them polite, willing to assist at all times and above all professionals. Check-in experience smooth and fast. Great breakfast with a nice variety of food, have tried all of them as we were for a long stay and there was not a single item that was not tasty and fresh! I always value breakfast on 2 things. Coffee and fried eggs...loved them. The rooms very comfortable and the location of the hotel unbelievable convenient. Within minutes (with taxi) in the city centre. Bus stops just outside the hotel. We were travelling with our 16 months baby and the hotel i would say is super kinds friendly. I am happy that we have chosen Athens Avenue for our Christmas Vacation in Athens and for sure next time i will be staying with them.…
The hotel was nice and clean with comfortable bed and pillows. It was helpful to have USB ports on either side of the bed for charging our phones. The breakfast room was spacious and there was a good selection. Our 5th floor room faced the street and we could hear road noise from the busy street below. The only downside was the location of the hotel. They claim that it is a 20 minute walk to the Plaka, but the way is dark and forbidding at night and the sidewalks are broken up in places. We did not feel comfortable walking this. We took taxis.
Really good hotel, staff very helpful indeed, the room was great. The shower is positioned strangely but is okay. The 'but..' in the title is due to the location and if you have business in the area, great but access to the main tourist bit is a good 20 minute walk and not easy after a long day of walking around. There is a bus stop close by but you have to have a prepaid ticket to use it and you can't buy them nearby plan to use the bus on the way back. The pavements (sidewalks) are hazardous and it is advisable to use the pavement on the opposite side of the road. Health and safety around the hotel is poor at best and very inaccessible for wheelchair users or those with sight issues. None of the problems noted are the fault of the hotel which remains really good.
Hotel is okay, but very very noisy at night and day too. faces a very busy street. After a long day, this hotel is not a ideal location. Breakfast was also average. It has 4 star rating- but does not have the feel or the look of that rating. You pay extra for that rating.
