When looking for a place to stay my primary concern is:does it have a comfortable bed, a decent shower and a quiet place to stay. This place was quiet, except the birds which nobody had control over, the bed was moderately comfortable. The shower worked. On the downside, the room was not the cleanest, the space under the door was wide enough for many undesirable characters to enter the room and the air conditioning was not big enough to handle the heat/humidity. Out of 7 different stays in Australia this would rank last

On my first visit I was impressed with Twin Pines. Our room on that visit was basic but clean & comfy. So I was looking forward to staying again. But this was not to be? Our room was quite dingy with no milk for teas/coffees. There was only one small hand towel. A bath mat & a flannel. When I went to the office at about 7.30 the reception was closed & locked. This visit was such a contrast to our previous visit. I went back next morning about 7.30am & it was still closed & locked. I hope things will improve but for the time being I will not revisit.

We where travelling through and turned up quite late. The lady at reception was lovely got us checked in quickly and gave us information where we could get some dinner.
Room was a little tight with our babies porta cot and luggage in it. But it was very clean and the bed was quite comfortable. Had a little microwave and plates and cutlery which was really handy.
Great position, only a quick walk to everything.

We aren’t ones to be picky about accomodation - as long as we have a clean room, a hot shower, a comfy bed and a safe place to sleep we are happy. It is budget accomodation so we didn’t expect much but it was one of the worst places either of us have ever stayed. We arrived at the accomodation and the lady was friendly and put a cable into our room for the tv. We then went out for food and a few drinks and it was on our return that our stay gradually went downhill. At the current time, you expect places to be clean and sanitised due to COVID however it looked like our room hadn’t been cleaned for months. There was litter on the floor, hair on the sink, used cosmetic scissors in the bathroom, cigarette ash in the window sill, the microwave was full of dried food, there were glow sticks in the fridge, a sock or something covering the smoke detector, a used straw next to a dirty comb with white powder on it on top of a light. It felt like we were in a room someone had been living in but they’d just left for the night for us to stay in it. In the evening a couple in the room below were arguing about ‘shooting up’ and threatening to kill each other. The safety latch on the door didn’t have a chain and the door between us and the room next door was unlocked. The bed sheets were so stained (yellow, brown and even blood looking ones) we went out and bought glen 20 to spray everything. We thought it was strange to have some standard cutlery in the cupboard yet a huge knife just sitting on the side next to the tea bags. We were woken at 6:30am by extremely loud screaming pipes. If we hadn’t had a few beers we would have packed up and gone back home. Wouldn’t stay again and wouldn’t recommend.

With so many apartments available on the Sunshine Coast, it must be hard for a tired old motel to compete, so the Twin Pines doesn't.

Most apartments require you to book at least 2 nights, as we were only staying one night in Mooloolaba, I booked into the Twin Pines for a family room as there were four of us. The room is very basic, with a separate double-bed room, a front area with three single beds, a shower/toilet and a bench with a microwave and mini fridge. There was a new TV with DVD player. Location is very convenient.

The real problem was that a previous occupant had left a pair of used underpants behind the bedroom door, and the cleaners hadn't picked them up. How appalling! I didn't expect much from this place, even at the ridiculous price of $225/night, but I did expect basic cleanliness. Not good enough!

Booked the "so called" family room as shown on wotif with a spacious room with a queen and two single beds for our two boys, arrived (in holiday period) to find they had shoved two single beds into a normal basic room with a queen bed. Went to the office immeaditely to request a refund and was given excuses explaining it was "the systems" fault and had overbooked, when I had booked two months in advance and apparently we just got there too late in the day so other ppl got the family rooms first. Puzzled as to why they don't allocate prebooked and pre paid rooms?? and it was our fault for arriving at 1.30pm? (every other hotel has a check in time of 2pm?) just got sick of the excuses so requested my refund again which she attempted to put through manually (even after I suggested getting my card to swipe) and instead of refunding charged me again for the room, then had to refund me the double amount, the second being an unauthorised transaction on my credit card account, and had to wait 3 days for the refund ($630, no meager amount when travelling with children on holidays) to clear. Disgusted with lack of empathy and complete lack of customer service.

Booked online and the web review for the motel room amenities sounded quite good, different story when we got there.
The room is supposed to be serviced daily, the first day it wasn't serviced at all. The next day we noticed the service was folding the toilet paper into a point and leaving a newspaper nothing else was done. So we made our beds and bought our own milk. The bathroom basin needed a clean , I left it until the second last day of our stay and cleaned it myself . There were ants in the shower and a note on the screen noting there was a problem with the hot water, no fan in the bathroom and the air con was a wall unit that sounded like a chaff cutter. The rooms were supposed to have ceiling fans, ours didn't, I was also led to believe there was a kitchen - there was a bench and microwave with a toaster that set the fire alarm off when we used it and no sink, so washed dishes in bathroom basin.
The motel is in desperate need of a renovation, still has 1970's bathroom tiles. It is in a great spot, close to everything but not worth the $99 special.
Would pay $60 a night.

Obviously the motel has been around a long time, so it is not full on modern, but it was comfortable, and had everything we needed for a 1 night stay, and considering the location, it was pretty quiet. I did however, hate the shower head, it really needs to be replaced.

This motel is cheap but don’t expect too much for your money. It is very basic but it is clean. It is also within easy walking distance to cafes and restaurants. Just keep in mind you get what you pay for and don’t believe the photos on the website.

This motel is quite basic, but spotlessly clean and a comfortable bed. Its situation is convenient to beach, restaurants, The Spit and other attractions. We have stayed here before - usually for a few days over Christmas. I would recommend it to people who intend being out for most of the day, and would use the motel mainly for sleeping in. It has a small swimming pool, which was being used happily by children while we were there.
