The Crowne Plaza Sydney Coogee Beach, an IHG hotel, is celebrated for its superb location near the beach and convenient transport links. Reviewers often highlight the hotel's cleanliness and warm atmosphere, particularly during holiday seasons. While the views and amenities like the pool and gym are praised, some guests feel updates are needed, especially in the elevators and bathrooms.
Service quality has received mixed reports, with commendations for staff friendliness but criticisms for occasional slow responses. Lastly, the hotel's pricing has been questioned by those who expect more for their money.

Wow, beautiful hotel, with an amazing pool and 2 min walk to beach and rock pool.
Very posh inside, felt a bit like an up market American country club experience. Breakfast/restaurant room was beautiful. Staff very nice. Free towels for pool and beach. Room very good with usb sockets. Good public buses to Bondi. The walk took us over an hour, and was up and down hill. Nearby Coogee beach restaurants were great.

I can’t thank Crowne Plaza enough. We booked the hotel after coming back early from our cruise to Pacific Islands and although there were no cases in Noumea or on the boat we had to self isolate. The staff organized for us to be upgraded to a balcony room with an amazing view of Coogee beach and put us on the designated isolation floor. This brightened my partner and my two young kids up immediately. The duty manager on shift Katrina went above and beyond for us- she had the concierge Gavin goto Woolworths for us to grab us a few necessities (juice, milk, cereal, yoghurt, fruit), she printed off coloring-in pages for the kids and even gave them a new play dough activity set to keep them occupied and we even had lattes and croissants ordered and picked up for us each morning from the corner cafe. We weren’t flying out until 8pm and we were given a complimentary “very” late checkout at 6pm so we could stay in our room and shower before boarding. Thank you so much for amazing hospitality and customer service. We’re so happy we decided to book here rather than isolate at one of the airport hotels for 2 nights. Will definitely be back (under different circumstances!)

This was our third visit to the Crowne Plaza on Coogee in as many months. This time for our 25th anniversary (not Hawaii, thanks Covid). On hearing it was our anniversary, we were upgraded to a good ocean view room with wine and chocolates, nice touch. The pool is pleasant and the gym is well equipped, both are well-stocked with hotel towels. The tennis court is ok for a bit of fun. The breakfast is good although some might argue about the variety, or if they didn't want the full English. The room was nice with a good TV and modern bathroom and shower, and I'd recommend the extra bit you might need to pay to have an ocean view, which provides a very pleasing aspect from the balcony. Parking was $25/day which is probably par for the course, but would be a great drawcard if it had been included in the overall price. The beach and a host of eateries are just down the road and the area as a whole has a good holiday feel and vibe to it. Our stay was four nights long and very enjoyable. I would recommend the hotel, as well as the area itself for it's atmosphere and variety of things to do.
Disliked ...
Minor issues. The timing of the daily room service was always a bit of a mystery, and hard to determine when to leave, or return to your room. They also did not always remove all the used products (shampoo, etc) from the bathroom. The fridge freezer compartment was frozen over, not a biggie though. The safe was not working but they had it fixed as soon as I reported it. The format of breakfast has been different each of the three times we have visited the hotel, and while the food and service is good, and the hotel needs to be Covid-aware, it can still be a bit confusing to know whether to order from the table, or from the kitchen, or both. The menu is also a bit ambiguous, but nothing that the friendly staff couldn't sort out.

We enjoyed the newly renovated connecting village view rooms for our family over the school holidays for four nights. The hotel is benefiting from continued renovations. Given all the constraints of COVID it was a wonderful stay. The staff were beyond friendly and genuinely thrilled to have a full hotel again. Matt who managed Shutters Restaurant for Breakfast was always friendly and helpful to our rather large family.
The holiday program for kids and the associated kids space was excellent. This is something that should be done more with the great number of families looking for domestic holidays. The free movies were also a hit with the kids.
Parking was easy for a large vehicle, albeit the carpark filled up a couple of times over a busy long weekend.
The kids loved the pool, but I found it a bit cold. The pool area was in need of renovation. The kids loved the easy access to the beach and we enjoyed local restaurants and bars.
Congratulations to all the staff for their good efforts at making the hotel COVID safe. Some places just wack up some stickers and tell you they are doing extra cleaning. At the Crown Plaza they carefully and politely ensuring compliance and really do keep the hotel clean.. We look forward to returning and hopefully will book the beach view rooms next time. Hopefully some of the renovated rooms with a balcony.

Nice hotel overlooking the famous Coogee beach, idyllic location to enjoy the beach, surrounded by eateries and cafe. They also have parking with AUD 25/night which was reasonable given the location as we drove down to the place. Just a stroll away to the park which can take you on popular coogee-bondi-coogee walk.

Speaking as a middle aged woman, one of the joys of this stay at the newly refurbished Crowne Plaza Coogee was the return of the simple top sheet!! For years hotels have been skipping this simple yet useful piece of manchester and just supplying a doona, meaning many people have had to wrestle with an uncomfortable night’s sleep trying to achieve a suitable temperature. Thank you so much Crowne Plaza!
This laidback and beautiful hotel offers unbeatable views, great food & wine, friendly & welcoming staff. We are looking forward to returning again when the gym and the new Estate restaurant and Bar have opened.

We couldn't agree more! As a brand we decided last year that providing a top sheet delivered what our guests want. The flexibility to have options during your nights sleep is important and so I'm delighted to hear you appreciate the set-up. Thank you fro your lovely comments about our hotel. We very much look forward to welcoming you back in the near future. Best regards Gareth Long General Manager

My husband & I treated ourselves to a night at Coogee for our wedding anniversary......we were just hoping for a decent nights sleep away from the kids!
Well the Crown Plaza gave us so much more! The room was beautiful with everything you could need including an extra comfy bed, the balcony and view were stunning and we loved just sitting there drinking our wine and watching the waves!
All the staff were wonderful and so helpful.
We had breakfast included in our stay and while the restaurant was busy on a Sunday morning, the staff were attentive and the food was worth the wait!
An absolutely beautiful place to have a getaway with so many restaurants and cafes to explore plus the great beaches!

I went through Qantas Holidays and paid for an oceanview room for 2 nights late October at the Crowne Plaza Coogee. I paid an EXTRA $100 to upgrade to the oceanview room.
The view out the window was of a hill of cars and houses on arrival.
I phoned reception when I got to the room to advise we were not given an oceanview room and also went to the desk and they would not give me an oceanview room. They said they had no more rooms. That is absolutely untrue as there were hardly any cars in the car park at 11.30am on Friday and not a person in sight.
I stayed at the same hotel in October last year and woke up to a view of the ocean directly in front of the king bed and that was the room I should have been given.
This was a partial ocean view and not what I paid for or expected. You had to go out on the balcony to see any view. It rained, so I did not see any ocean view. And that is the reason I stayed there - to wake up to an ocean view. I should have been able to see the ocean from inside the room like I did last year.
It also had 2 tiny double beds. 2 adults cannot sleep in a bed that small.

I enjoyed thoroughly my stay at Crowne Plaza Coogee Beach. I arrived around 9 pm on a Monday evening and was welcomed by the friendly and professional Mary, with whom it was a delight to engage.
I was privileged to stay on the 7th floor with a balcony overlooking the ocean and the pool below.
My room was maintained and cleaned each day to the highest standards; the linens were all of superior quality; Shutters restaurant was exceptional, with excellent vegetarian options available - kudos to the chefs. If it's available all year-round, vegos must try the pumpkin risotto with crispy sage!
Importantly, my room was fairly well sound proof; I couldn't hear my neighbours on either side utilising bathroom facilities etc; I really appreciated that!
I tend to run fairly warm, naturally, so having the opportunity to custom adjust my room's temperature to a more comfortable setting just enhanced my overall experience.
The hotel is in a great location at the Southern end of the beach promenade and is within short walking distance to the main shopping district, so all food and other retail amenities are accessible with ease.

Our group of friends stayed at Crowne Plaza Coogee Beach for New Year's Eve and we were really impressed with their excellent customer service. They made it easy and hassle-free to get inter-connected rooms with our teens so it was easy for us to keep an eye on them should we need to. We were also given higher level rooms with great views of the beach and the ocean. The rooms were clean and had all the safety precautions in place to ensure that we felt safe despite the pandemic concerns. We particularly appreciated the sweet treats and Champagne that served as beautiful welcome into our rooms. The hotel location is amazing, only a few steps away from the beach, the shops and restaurants. Due to Covid-19 restrictions we were a little disappointed that we couldn't go ahead with our plans to watch the fireworks in the city centre but staying at Crowne Plaza Coogee ended up being a cheaper and great alternative to celebrate the New Year by the beach with friends. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the friendly nature and great hospitality of the hotel staff.

I don't know specifically but I think that the balconies on non smoking rooms would also be non smoking
Hi, Sorry for the delay in replying. I wasn't aware of any major refurbishment planned for this year. However, I tried to look it up and it says new bathrooms for all rooms. There was some redecoration of the rooms going on when we stayed there, but it did not interfere with our stay.
If you are really worried I would telephone or email the hotel directly and ask, they should be able to give you a honest reply to your question. We thought that the hotel was very good, and probably the best in Coggee Beach, there were quite a few in our group, and we did notice that there was a big difference in the sizes of some of the rooms, the hotel was very accommodating and did let guests change rooms should they need to. Hope you have a wonderful time there, and make sure you pack some jumpers and jackets, we went at a similar time, and although it's Australia, the weather in Sydney is very unpredictable, some days very cold and the next too hot.
So sorry for late reply. Yes there was parking on site, but don’t know how much.
