We just spent a fantastic week at the Alamanda. Before we arrived they arranged transport for us from (and to) the Cairns airport through Exemplar, an excellent shuttle service. A small discount is applied to the transport charge when the Alamanda makes the booking. From arrival and check in until we reluctantly said goodbye, every staff member including Kiley the manager were helpful and friendly. The kitchen/living area of our oceanfront one bedroom suite (#35) was on the top floor with our spacious en suite bedroom, and a second bathroom with shower, on the floor below. The furnishings are modern, there is Miele equipment in the kitchen and laundry, and the entire place was immaculately clean. The wonderful view from our big balcony took in the beach, palm trees, and one of the three swimming pools. The main pool was being renovated but unlike other reviewers, we never heard any construction noise from it. There was an occasional sound or two from what was probably routine maintenance or minor construction, but it was never a nuisance. The Alamanda is at the end of the main street that runs along the beach and is situated such that the street turns before it passes in front of the side of the building where our suite was located. As far as we could tell this was the only accommodation in Palm Cove that didn’t have the street between it and the beach, so no traffic noise.

It is a short walk to the many restaurants, bars, and shops on the main street (DO NOT miss the restaurant Vivo - see separate review). Restaurant La Mesa at the Mantra is very good and gives a discount to Accor members, but only if you have your Accor card with you. There is a small well-stocked grocery store very near Alamanda, and a short distance past the store is the Palm Cove Tavern and bottle shop. Gabi in the office were eager to help us sort out an excursion to Kuranda via the historic train from Freshwater, and back down the mountain via cable car. One tour was based from Cairns which would have required us to pay separately for transport to the train station and back from the cable car station. Upon looking at the many brochures in the office we found a brochure for Brett’s one-day Kuranda tour that originates in Port Douglas with a pick up in Palm Cove, eliminating the need to pay for separate transport. It pays to look closely at the brochures. Gabi booked our tour with Brett’s excellent tour (see separate review) and the charge was put on our room. We have told friends and family about our wonderful stay here and some of them are already planning their visits. We will definitely be back!

The location, hospitality, 3 bedroom apartment, views, and peacefulness of this old colonial looking facility are spectacular- a trip back in time with a fantastic attached restaurant NuNu.

Unfortunately, our booking agent and the hotel management failed to mention that it is under massive renovation - the pool, main building, and lagoon walkway are in total disrepair. The daily noise made being at the hotel unbearable for us.

We highly common the hotel and small town of Palm Cove, but wait until the construction is complete.

I have just returned from a 12 day stay at Alamanda by Lancemore resort, half of the stay accompanied by my older Mum. We stayed in a 2 bedroom beach view apartment on the second floor (Building 1, Suite 17) booked through AirBnb. For a significantly cheaper price I would recommend booking through AirBnb, our apartment cost much less when compared to the hotel website.

Similar to other reviews, I wouldn’t consider this a 5 star resort, it is a self-contained hotel so even if you stay under the umbrella of the hotel itself, there is no daily maid service, concierge, pillow menu, blockout blinds, no elevators, everyday spa access, mini bar, room service or pool bar. It’s important people are aware of this prior to booking IF booking through the hotel directly. As I used AirBnb I was aware of this.

As a self-contained hotel, there are many positive aspects but some negative also. The location and views are simply the best in Palm Cove, overlooking the picture perfect palm cove (which is absolutely full of rainbow lorikeets, swallows and bats at night) the town is renowned for. I would return simply for the view and location! I honestly felt like there was no where else better to spend the time than on the balcony or by the pool. It is the only resort with direct beach access on the whole strip and the adults only pool is located right next to the water under the palms. With lots of families staying at the resort, it was bliss being in a pool only for adults. The balconies of the beach view apartments are private and being brick you can’t hear your neighbours if they’re also using theirs. The apartments are spacious and comfortable, with fans and air conditioning in every room. The hotel gardens and magical and well maintained, they’re lovely to take a stroll around.

The major negative is that the building has no elevators, which can make it tricky if you have toddlers, lots of luggage or in our case an older parent. From the underground parking lot to the bedrooms and bathrooms it’s a total of 4 flights of stairs (5 if located on the upper floor). My Mum struggled and for anyone disabled, elderly, with respiratory issues or out of shape, this isn’t appropriate accomodation unless on the ground floor.

Overall, I would return solely for the view and location alone - it’s just perfect. For those considering booking, I would recommend trying AirBnb, choosing a beach view apartment (however taking the stairs into consideration) while also considering the time of year to visit as the beach is closed for many months due to stingers and box jelly fish. If you’re a palm tree lover like me, this is the place for you!

Dear Georgia As I mentioned in person to you, I don't find it helpful or fair to review Alamanda Palm Cove by Lancemore when you did not stay with us - at your own admission you booked via a 3rd Party Operator. If you had stayed with us you would have had all the services you mention of daily housekeeping, 24 Hour reception, Access to complimentary children’s prams, Playmats etc, Assistance with your luggage, Concierge to mention a few. More importantly you would not have had to wait in our reception while I called the 3rd Party Operator you rented from when you locked yourself out of your apartment and someone had to drive across town to let you in - hopefully you made your flight. Its great you had a lovely stay in Palm Cove but I think it would be best to review the right company. All the best Tom Kelly Front Office Manager

The absolute beachfront, excellent room and resort design, and plantings of a great variety of tropical plants made it a perfect setting for an extended stay away from the cold southern city. Breakfast at NuNu was a highlight (unfortunately closed several days, but it's understable with staff shortages across the industry). But service left a lot to be desired. We gave plenty of warning that with a mobility problem we needed a walk-in shower and hoped for no or few steps. They did do the walk-in shower, but put us up two flights of steps, plus another internal flight to the bedroom. On arrival they promised to try and move us after a few days, as we were staying two weeks. That was not done, nor was there any apology for not doing it. It also took some hassle to get room cleaning and a promised extension cord. That is poor service for a very pricey resort. Nevertheless, we much enjoyed our stay.

Initially when we arrived we were a little disappointed as we were given a room that we were not happy with , not that the room was a bad one, it wasn’t , it was a lovely room it just wasn’t what we expected as we thought we had requested a room at ground level with beach views, we were also disappointed that the attached restaurant/ bar was closed for the night ( Thursday night).
Our issues on arrival were quickly address , we were given a new room the next morning that satisfied us in every way , we enjoyed beautiful views of the ocean every morning and evening ,the pool was right next to us.
The rooms were clean , modern and comfortable, we couldn’t fault them in any way, all the people we encountered at reception were polite and helpful especially a gentleman named Mack who was always obliging.
If you are looking to have some quite chill out time in nice surroundings , with great service I can highly recommend the Alamanda .

From the moment you step into reception from the time you leave, staff at Alamanda Palm Cove make you feel special. We booked our holiday through My Qld Holidays, which came with a host of extras including days in the Daintree and out on the reef, but it’s our time spent at the resort which we shall cherish the most. In the best location in Palm Cove as the only ocean fronted property, you are central to all restaurants, cafes and naturally the coastline.

The rooms are quite large. We had an ocean facing second floor 1 bedroom apartment which was much larger than your typical one bedders. Air conditioning is always welcome in the tropics and theirs didn’t disappoint, however often we opened the wide verandah doors and let the southerly winds blow the property. The self contained kitchen contains everything you need, but we chose to eat out at the numerous cafes and restaurants along the front of Palm Cove. The king size bed was very comfortable, and they have an extensive pillow menu. Our apartment had 2 bathrooms as well.

The property has 3 pools, one of which was an adults only pool. We were here during a quiet week so had the pools to ourselves on numerous occasions. The temperature of the pools were excellent for cooling off, and we could order drinks etc by the pool via an app.

We used the games room a couple of times for pool and ping pong, and took advantage of their extensive board game library.

Breakfast was included in our package and was delicious with a special set menu with options to choose from. More than adequate. We celebrated my wife’s birthday with a meal at the resident restaurant Nu Nu which was also excellent. Great views, great atmosphere and the food was delicious. For another excellent meal, try the Reef House up the street.

Can’t finish this without calling out the staff who were brilliant. Special words for Dan who looked after us like we were the only ones there. Very professional and nothing was too much for him.

This is luxury accommodation at Palm Cove as it’s finest. It’s worth the extra spend to stay at this place, and with a number of deals available at the moment, you shouldn’t pass up the chance. We will be back.

My partner and I recently stayed at the Alamanda in Palm Cove over seven nights. On arrival we were greeted by Tom who was so very welcoming and friendly. We were fortunate enough to receive an accomodation upgrade which was a pleasant surprise and very much appreciated and unexpected. Tom offered to book us into any restaurant we needed and gave us a detailed overview of hotel facilities etc.

Our four bedroom apartment was ever so spacious and clean and provided more than we could have needed or expected. The views were spectacular, amenities plentiful and everything very clean and tidy. The staff at the Alamanda are fantastic, always greeting guests with a big smile however special mention must go to Tom and Kaye who really went out of their way to make our stay a special one.

The Alamanda provides clean and spacious accomodation, sits across from the water, allowing guests to hear the crashing of the waves all day and night. It provides guests with three well maintained swimming pools, friendly staff and all within minutes from restaurants, bars and cafes. I ask myself, how can it get better than that? Sure there was some very minor wear and tear here and there but we allowed all of the overwhelmingly positive aspects to overcome any of these minor and insignificant issues. It is really easy these days for guests to seek faults with their accomodation, nitpicking minor details and broadcasting them on social media, resulting in unfair portrayal of all the hard work that goes into running a resort such as the Alamanda, especially in these difficult times.

What I loved most about the Alamanda was the ever present collective effort amongst staff (including reception, housekeeping, maintenance) to create a very welcoming environment for their guests, and this really helped set the tone for our holiday. We came back totally chilled and relaxed and can highly recommend the Alamanda as a place to stay while in Palm Cove.

Like many of you our plans for celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary were cancelled this year. My husband & I decided to have a series of 3 night getaways around Queensland. We booked a Studio Pool View for 3 nights. The flights from Brisbane were perfect, having us arrive at 12.30pm into Palm Cove (after a 30
Minute shuttle transfer from airport). We were warmly welcomed by Daniel who advised us our room was ready (excellent). Daniel took our luggage up to our room and then came back and escorted us there. We were pleasantly surprised to walk in and see a complimentary bottle of bubbles to celebrate our anniversary. In then walked through the two level accommodation and realised we had also
been upgraded to a One Bedroom Pool
View. This was perfect as we had plenty of room, two bathrooms, full kitchen, laundry, lovely balcony overlooking pool & garden. It appears the accommodation has been refurbished and renovated as everything seem fresh and clean. You can see that this is an older style of a property but this is what we loved about it. Nothing in Palm Cove is built over 4 levels high and you are surrounded by lush palms and gorgeous old paperbark trees.
After settling in we rang the onsite restaurant- NuNu to request an earlier lunch (as checkin was so smooth). We arrived at lunch and were given a lovely shaded table over looking the water.
Our room was serviced each day which was lovely to walk into after a long walk on beach the following morning.
We spent the following few days, lying at either the heated pool or main pool. The adult only pool was located on the beachside of the property and a little too exposed to the wind on day two.
The day prior to our checkout I enquired about transport back to Cairns airport for our 4.40pm
Flight home. This was arranged immediately with Kasey at reception. I then enquired about paying for a Dayuse rate as we didn’t need to
depart the property until 3pm. Kasey advised me that we could have our room until 3pm at no additional cost as they had no other guests arriving at that time. I appreciate that this was a quite week and possibly not always available but it was greatly appreciated. My husband & I had only ever travelled to Cairns or Port Douglas many years ago and felt neither of these had the tranquil atmosphere and beauty of Palm Cove. The Alamanda was in a perfect location as you can step directly into the beach from the property grounds. We will definitely return.

Our travel agent suggested Alamanda and we are glad. We really liked the upgrade to a 2 bedroom apartment on the ground floor. There is no elevator so lugging our suitcases up flights of stairs would have been doable but a pain. The next door convenience store offers food options and NuNu Restaurant, also on the property, had innovative and yummy food. I love swimming in the ocean & it’s not possible in Palm Cove -they are crocodiles & jelly fish- except in a netted area down the beach. The water is warm & there’s a life guard. This was a relaxing place to base from to visit the Great Barrier Reef & rainforest in the midst of our 3+ week Australia & New Zealand trip.I wish the 3 pools had more shade options but the loungers on the grassed area & on our deck offered options.

Be aware this property is an active building site. There was no warning of this when booking, or any update to us from the property about this before we arrived so we could make alternative plans or even when we checked in. We became aware when we arrived at our beach front apartment to find it overlooked the construction area. We talked to the people at reception about this who blithely said yes there are building works going on. They agreed to move us to a room slightly further away but the reality is you can’t avoid the building noise anywhere along the beach side of the hotel. It’s also immediately above the adults pool and we could hear it at the other pools as well. After another burst of jackhammering I talked to reception again they advised they aren’t told by the body corporate who own the property when building works are on or how loud they would be, and so they can’t advise guests in advance. I challenged this as clearly the works are audible and visible to reception as they’re happening directly above them. They offered us a partial refund so we can leave and find somewhere restful. So my advice would be avoid this property until they can guarantee no more building works. As others note, this property has a great location but otherwise is getting run down and tired. Perhaps the body corporate could focus more on renovating the apartments? For the price point it’s a con job. And beware all the stairs!!!!
