There are many places to stay in Las Terrenas and as with any destination, you get what you pay for. The staff here was very friendly and helpful. The pool was very nice. They have a grill near the pool for guests to use. During my stay I found this hotel to be clean inside and out. They have security staff at night. This hotel is within walking distance to many restaurants. The rooms also have a small kitchen. This hotel is not on the beach, but is only about 2 blocks to the ocean and playa bonita is about a 10 to 15 minute walk. There are several locations next to this property that rent scooters and quads which is a nice way to tour this area. I read 1 review for this property where the guest complained about the hotel adding an extra 18% to the bill. If that guest did their homework, they would know that every hotel in the D.R. charges 18% HOTEL TAX. I would stay here again.

This was our second stay at this hotel and this time the stay was for 6 weeks. It is an older building and the tropics are not too kind to older cement buildings, but it is very well maintained. There is constant maintenance being carried out and any minor problems are fixed super quickly. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed. We had an apartment, which is large with twin beds, a sitting area with TV, couch and easy chair and a kitchenette. There is a large balcony with table and chairs for dining. There is also a second story sleeping loft with a king size bed. Lots of room and comfortable for a longer stay. Maid service was always excellent and very agreeable, as an example we liked to have a siesta in the afternoons so the odd time we wanted our room done we arranged that it be done in the morning. The grounds and pool were always well maintained with an abundance of flowers, shrubs and trees.

The main consideration for this hotel is the location - probably the best in Las Terrenas. Very close to the beach, shops, all sorts of restaurants, French style bakery, mini-markets and so on. Although you are close to everything going on once you are in the hotel complex itself you would never know that you are in the heart of the tourist area. All the mini-markets deliver, so you can go out and do your shopping and when you return it will be in your room. You are never more than a minute or two walk from the beach or restaurants.

All staff were at all times very pleasant, helpful and most accommodating. Most of the staff were the same as the ones there last year, which is a good indication that the place is well managed. Happy long-term staff is something that is always good to see. The Manager speaks English and he has sent the receptionists on English language training as well.

If you read my report from last year you will see that a major problem that I had was with the bar staff. They kept the noise level very high at all times and when asked if they could please turn it down a little they would just shrug their shoulders. As well, the restaurant at the bar was one fixed meal each day. This year was 1000% improvement. The radio was always played very low and the bar had a full menu including a room service menu that included burgers, sandwiches, and etc. that were also available at the bar. Breakfast was also available. Much, much better.

The only problem we had was one night when a group of Dominicans booked in about 10:00 PM. They set up a loud speaker on their balcony and partied loudly until 3:00 AM then the next day set up their loud speaker at the pool and partied until they checked out in the afternoon. I would love to find a hotel in the DR that has policies similar to North America, where the main concern is the peace and quiet of all guests and either security or staff immediately addresses a disturbance. Dominicans seem to think that it is their God given right to be as noisy as they want and don’t seem to have any problem causing as big a problem as possible for other as long as they are having fun.

All in all a very good deal and good choice for the traveller that is looking for a decent place for a long stay. It may not have a 5 star rating, but the staff make you feel like it has.

Booked in last Sunday for our third stay here, this time for two months. We arrived fairly late in the evening but our pre arranged taxi was at the airport and when we arrived at the hotel we were met by a security guard who had all of our paperwork ready. He booked us in and took our luggage up to the room. I had asked the hotel to do some shopping for us and it was all in the room. We have a duplex and it was immaculate as usual, even new tiles on the bathroom floor and shower which was a big improvement. Duplexes also have brand new low energy air conditioners as well.

Grounds are as usual very well kept and enjoyable. Pool area is great and they have new umbrellas, which were missing last year. We especially appreciate that there is no loud music, etc., from the bar.

The hotel remains a small piece of heaven in the center of the tourist area of the village. Everything very handy but out of sight and out of mind until you want it!

The rooms, location and pool are ok. But hotel management sucks. I decided to settle the bill the night before as we where leaving early the morning after. When i went to reception the person responsible did not know how to settle the bill. She told me to come back in the morning after and she gave me the total in USD. I went by the reception the morning after. I handled over my Credit card but suddenly they had decided to add an extra 18% on the bill if you dont pay cash. I was furious of course as we where in a hurry to catch the bus. I tan over to one bank but they had no conection to their atm. At the next bank the atm was working. I payed the bill and had to run to the bus not to miss it. When i now sit in the bus i allso realised that the exchange rate to pesos they used was a joke and taken from their own fantasy. I nice Hotel but i will never go back again. Im going to report them to my creditcard company to see if they really can add an extra charge in card payments. I understand why they want cash, its more easy to hide money from being taxed.

We arrived late night. The room was dirty (feces stains on the toilet), lacked bath size towels, and had no air conditioning (although we were paying for this service). Because the only person available to assist was the security guard we had to wait until the next morning to at least try and get a substantial discount. At the end of the day all we received was a discount for lack of air conditioning in our room. I will not return nor will I recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to visit Las Terrenas.

Were back for our third visit in Dec/Jan. Staff was, as always, very efficient and helpful. Room was clean and well maintained. Had a bit of a problem with A/C, was fixed immediately with no hassle. Maid service great and very friendly. There is an old saying - you get what you pay for. In this hotel you get that and more, but it is not a 5 star hotel. In some ways it is better - more informal and feels like you are visiting family. The location is a big draw as well. It is an oasis in the middle of the tourist area, close to beaches, stores and restaurants but you would never know it sitting around the pool. Grounds are meticulous and property well maintained. Still best value for money in Las Terrenas. I especially appreciated the fact that there was never loud music from the bar - very quiet and peaceful, the way a long term residence holiday should be.

I am a native of the Dominican Republic but have lived in the United States for over 20 years. I have stayed at La Residencia del Paseo twice this year and I could not be more delighted with the facilities, the staff, and, of course, the price.

The hotel is very clean all throughout and the grounds are very well kept. Also, it is very kid friendly. There is a green area around the pool where the kids can play or to have a family picnic. The swimming pool is spacious and it has a shallow section for the children. Also, there is a small restaurant/bar pool side that serves fresh food (including freshly caught fish) from late morning until late night. If you prefer, there is actually a stove in some of the rooms. We used it a couple of times to cook breakfast.

There are many restaurants right next to and around the hotel. Anywhere from a 1 minute walk to a five minute ride. And the food the restaurants offer varies from Caribbean, to French, to Italian, etc. I was amazed at the choices.

Also, they offer free WiFi (Yes!). There are many hotels all over the place that charge you an arm an a leg for WiFi but not here. Again, an unexpected surprise.

Lastly, the hotel is about 200 yards from a golden sand beach. The beach is clean and the water is always clear and warm. How can you go wrong?

Having stayed a many hotels in the past both in the United States and Eurpoe, I can not say enough about the hospitality, cleanliness, professionalism, and affordability of La Residencia del Paseo. Very highly recommended!

The hotel is in an excellent location, the breakfast is good but you can get a cheaper price for the breakfast if you go and buy it yourself in the cafeteria, there's a lot mosquitos and cockroaches in the hotel room, the AC doesn't work properly, the water heater is OFF late at night and the pool is ok. You can get a lot of more options for the same price.
