Detailed Reviews
Playa Colibri is a very pretty apartment complex located across a quiet road from one of the nicest stretches of beach in Las Terrenas. Cute, simply furnished units. Some of the 2nd and 3rd floor apartment apartments have views of the ocean and all face a large well-landscaped central garden with pool.
The hotel’s open air restaurant offers a nice buffet breakfast, good lunches and dinner (plus a happy hour perfect for enjoying the sunset). There’re several good restaurants nearby and many more in town (a 15 minute walk or short motorbike ride away). The hotel’s staff are friendly and very helpful.

It has been a pleasure to enjoy close attention, always friendly and with a smile from all the hotel staff, both the reception and the people who run the kiosk where we have had breakfast and lunch almost every day. The food was very delicious and the Coco loco was incredible. Recommended the steak, the octopus, the hamburger,... The location is unbeatable, at the foot of a long beach with very few people where you can walk and swim without problems, and close to the town, taking a walk you are in the center of the earth.

We stayed at Hotel Playa Colibri for 5 nights in a one bedroom unit (#46). The checkin was easy and the front desk staff were helpful and communicated well. The unit was clean, spacious and had a nice roomy terrace with a slight ocean view. The pool area was pleasant and seldom crowded. The beach in front of the hotel is probably the most popular beach area in Playa las Ballenas. For many, that's probably great, but it was a bit more crowded than we liked and we preferred to walk down to the west end area of the beach. The hotel's beach restaurant/bar was good and reasonably priced. The front desk arranged for a clinic to send someone directly to our room to perform the COVID test we were required to take before returning to the U.S. It was actually less expensive to have it done this way than if we had went to a clinic in town. Very convenient. Overall, a nice, reasonably priced place to stay, especially if you prefer a lively, active beach scene.

Reeption staff lack training how to welcome and treat guests. Not a single smile, hello, welcome in three days, not even an acknoednent of the guest as he passes by time and again.
Average breakfast (except a richer one on Sunday), cold service, pricy.
Mosquitos in the room, noisy staff talking throughout the day in loud voice behind the room.
As you walk in for the first time they put an I.d. ribbon around your wrist, take the payment and hand out a list of possible damages to the various keys and remote controls with specific cost of each item. These are the damages, they say, that you would be liable if... Some welcome.
In summary, not a cordial welcome or further interaction with the reception people. The only curious people are the gardeners and maids.
Yet, the garden is beautiful, the nearby beach with its palm groves most charming, the hotel pool is large and clean.

We expended 12 days at Playa Colibri in a lovely small family cottage for 5 people, with 2 rooms, 2 bathrooms and a kitchen. The service is excellent and all the staff professional and very nice. The place is clean, the restaurant is good and the place is very nice and cosy.
The restaurant at the beach was fine and we had dinner there very often.
Yury, Pedro Miguel, Ana and the rest of the reception staff were very nice and hard working.
The beach is fantastic and you can walk quite far.
The only less nice point was the music that was every were and loud but I think is like this in every place at the Dominican Republic.

We (family of 4) stayed for 4 nights at the Playa Colibri on our recently concluded maiden trip to the DR and thoroughly enjoyed it!
Some of the things we really enjoyed about this hotel:
* The spaciousness of our 1 bedroom apartment (it actually had 5 beds and 2 baths and a kitchen spread over 2 floors).
* The beach (las ballenas) which is just amazing and seems to stretch for ever on
either side of the hotel.
* Breakfast being served right on the beach! The food choices were adequate but not outstanding.
* Easy 15-20 minute walk to Las Terrenas town center.

I just returned from my stay at Hotel Playa Colibri. My experience was excellent. The place is very nice with a country style. Excellent location, beach right across the street, tons of restaurants and convenience stores around. Rooms are spacious, clean, full kitchen included in the apartment, good Internet and amazing hot water. I stayed in a one bedroom with a mezzanine for the second bed. Breakfast served on the beach every day, nice pool, beach towels available. But the best part of all is the people. Everybody there is really nice, friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Aron Vasquez from the front desk who always gave the extra mile to provide us with the best customer service I have ever received. I will definitely come back to this place and I recommend you to visit Hotel Playa Colibri when visiting Las Terrenas.

My first impression was that all hotels are right next to each other. Most hotels I have visited, the beach is located in the back of the hotel. In this hotel, the beach was in front. I was a little disappointed because have to exit the hotel, and cross the street to get to the beach. Good thing was that it was like a minute walk to get to the beach.
Personnel was very attentive and kind, always willing to help.
Swimming pool was not that big but it was big enough to swim a few meters and hang out.
Wifi was OK . Good enough for Web Check In and chatting with WhatsApp.
Electricity went out a couple of times but it returned in less than a minute.
Air conditioning was at 17 degrees but it felt like 22 degrees. Not a big deal for me because there was a ceiling fan.
Breakfast was good. Served at the beach, that was great.
Two cycles motorcycles are very popular and you could hear them all day and night.

I’ve stayed here multiple times. This is my favorite place to stay in Las Terrenas. The breakfast buffet was so fresh and delicious. The yummy drinks brought straight to you whether you are in the pool or laying out on the beach. I went with my elderly mother and we got a little apartment on the second floor. It could not have been more perfect. We would start early on the beach and end up in the pool later in the afternoon. Then after a shower back to the beach for dinner at their outdoor restaurant. Everyone was so nice and helpful from the second of arrival. A special shout out to Mary who really took such good care of us. What a kind and special soul. I look forward to returning. Family friendly, couple friendly, traveling solo friendly - you name it !

Thank you very much for your question.
The studio unit only offers garden view.
We reccommed the Type B unit for a sea view, as some are located on the second and third floor.
Please specify your preference during your reservation request.
Best Regards,
Andrei Mavrovski
Thank you very much for your question.
The Studio unit is located on the ground floor with the terrace in the back. This offers a limited view of the garden.
For a sea view, we would reccomend a Type B unit. Some of these units are located on the second and third floors with sea view. Please specify your sea view preference during your request. We will be glad to reserve one for you if its available.
If we can be of additional assitance, please let us know.
Best Regards,
Andrei Mavrovski
