We stayed a few nights in Sublime Samana while touring the Dominican Republic.
We found the Samana Peninsula the most beautiful part of the DR.
For the hotel
Staff : All very helpful, friendly. I asked if I could change rooms and they did their best to show me other options. The staff at the restaurants are also really great! Love the hotel cats also which they seem to care for well.
Rooms: We had a one bedroom apartment, the first one was on the highest floor with high ceiling, it was beautiful but the A/C was very noisy. I asked to change rooms which did have a less noisy A/C (Although still bit noisy but turned the A/C off at night in the sleeping room). The rooms have shower only and limited amenities (Just basics like soap, shower gel). They were very clean. They also have a small kitchen and a big fridge. Kingsize beds were comfortable. Curtains are not full blackout. All of the apartments seem quiet as it's the hotel philosophy to have a relax and calm stay and they did succeed at it.
Food : Everything is A la carte, breakfast was nice and usually by the beach, lunch and dinner too, although rather limited menu options (It is fine for a few days but for longer stays you'll get bored of the same menu), some days the other restaurant was open which had a slightly more extensive menu. The quality of the food was generally good.
Hotel grounds and beach : The beach is beautiful it was very quiet, enough chairs to sit on and free beach towels. The pools are beautiful as well. The hotel is kept clean but as it's an open hotel it does have some bugs around the resort (It's really just the Dominican Republic) I never saw them in the room. If you're afraid of bugs than I believe you just need to choose another destination. The hotel really seems to have a good pest control and cleaning.
I was planning to stay next door at Wyndham but as I read some reviews it could be noisy at times and it was we could even hear their music at the beach in front of the hotel (Not disturbing), if you're looking for a quiet stay then Sublime is a great choice. Don't expect loud music, entertainment or massive buffets.

My husband, daughter (21 yrs) and I just returned from a lovely stay at Sublime Samana resort. We planned a last minute trip to the DR to learn how to surf and had a great trip. After a long drive in a rental car from Santo Domingo airport (rented a car to avoid enclosed cars with others during Covid), the resort was a welcome sight for us. The staff were friendly and warm throughout the resort and the accommodation (2BR casita) was spacious for 3 of us with 2 outdoor decks. Master Bathroom toilet, shower and jacuzzi were in an enclosed area outside (upstairs) which was very cool (weather is perfect in the winter). Restaurant staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our daughter was conversant in Spanish, which was helpful, but they understood English as well. Angel, one of the beach attendants, was a standout. Super friendly, helpful and attentive and provided great service at the beach with lounges, mattresses, towels and beach toys. Recommend having a large 5 gallon water bottle delivered as so much better than the individual water bottles. We hope to go back!

The hotel is absolutely stunning, with beautifully maintained grounds and a perfect situation on a gorgeous and sparsely populated beach. Our suite was large and well-appointed; we loved the little touches like the welcome fruit basket and well-stocked fridge (though our jacuzzi tub did not have hot water, which kind of rendered it unusable). The staff was friendly and attentive (special shoutout to Dignairy and Maria at the spa, and Edwin at the BIstro).
The one area where the experience could have been strengthened was the foodservice which was inconsistent, without much variety, and yet very expensive. Meal portions and preparation varied; you could order the same meal again and it would be different. Likewise, there was no consistency in service. The first morning, you had to order a fruit plate as one of your courses; the next day, each table received a plate unbidden and the third, a server came around and offered fruit to each person. Not a big deal, just felt like some additional training would really help take Sublime Samana to the next level. Seafood is your best bet when ordering at either the BIstro or La Palapa. We found ourselves walking to the restaurants down the beach for lunch, going into Las Terranas for dinner or ordering takeout with the Komida app to provide some variety to our meals.

You really do have the best beach at Sublime Samana. The rooms were beyond my expectation - we were on the second floor, in a one bedroom suite. House keeping comes at least twice a day and leaves you with complementary water, beer, soda, and infused water at bedtime. The staff is gracious and attentive.
Why the hotel lost two stars: the food is mediocre though, and families don’t stay out of the adult only pool.
FYI— You need a car to get into town, and we tried many of the top rated places on Trip Advisor — and nothing really stood out, or were closed.
Lunch is the biggest meal in DR - so walk the beach to the left and stop by at the two restaurants on the beach for lunch instead of eating at the hotel.
Other things:
The spa was OK - not worth the price for the couples massage though. (We had a better one at the Hamman in town.)
The gym was great, and it was nice to have breakfast included, but the food just is not flavorful at this hotel. It was hard because we wanted to stay and chill on the beautiful beach, but had to keep getting up and getting into town for food!
Many families here during the February break that schools have off — and a beautiful spot, but many kids!

The architecture and grounds of Sublime Samana are terrific. The apartments are nice with high ceilings and large bathrooms, The beach is beautiful and the water in front of Sublime is not crowded, The wifi generally works well in the rooms and surprisingly works quite well on the beach/. The grounds are quiet except for the techno pop blaring every afternoon from the adjacent all inclusive resort. The staff is friendly. And efficient. The food is good though the menu is a bit limited for long stays.
On the negative side there were no dish towels or dish liquid in the kitchen. The Palapa restaurant on the beach is nice with good views and a welcome breeze. The Bistro restaurant is outside but there are no views and no breeze which is blocked by the resort building.. Ceiling fans would be a great addition. Worst of all from an environmental point of view is that drinkable water is only provided in rather small plastic bottles. The amount of plastic this place must use in a year must be staggering.
All in all this is a nice place to stay and I hope to return.

I have read some of the other reviews and can't believe people stayed at same place. I had an awful experience here. Avoid at all costs. The beach was nice, and clean and the bedroom and bathroom were large and clean with a large balcony, that is all that was good and didn't make up for a terrible experience! It started with the reservations team, who don't appear to exist which is clearly odd. I was instructed to email them (I had bought a package via a charity auction) after weeks of repeatedly emailing in an effort to book I phoned. Was told reservations was closed (this was during office hours) I asked when they would be open and phoned back, they were still closed, this went on for some time. Eventually I reached someone who acknowledged seeing my emails and offered no apology for non responsiveness. It should have been a sign I was not meant to go there, I wish I never had. Karina was the only one who bothered responding and I got there on Thursday. As stated the room was large and clean but very dated, with tired furniture, bizarrely it had a kitchen with a full size fridge, and saucepans but no plates. There were plates with the provided fruit basket which had a rotten orange, well I think it was an orange it was so rotten/moldy it was hard to tell. This was right on the top, so clearly no one bothered to look or cared. They took the plates away the next day. Not sure where one would have been able to buy food to cook or prepare didn't see anywhere nearby. It would have been great because every meal at the hotel was inedible. The food was revolting, even the breakfast which is usually adequate even at basic resorts. The bread was stale. Everything was poorly cooked and tasted vile. The restaurant staff were awkward and inattentive. At dinner first night I left a cocktail barely started (it was undrinkable tasted like a mix between petrol and medicine) no one bothered asking why or if it was ok. A waiter arrived with a basket of (stale) bread and just stood awkwardly at the table, apparently not knowing where to put it, eventually he tried to put it in front of me, where a plate would go. Although there were meant to be several restaurants, there was only ever one open. They claimed to be full but saw very few guests. There was a bar, but it was never open, no bar tender ever present. The beach was nice, but the cheap plastic chairs were so uncomfortable my back went into spasm after a short time so I wasn't able to enjoy that. The wifi was very spotty and unreliable. The "hot" water in the room was only ever luke warm. I could have dealt with these things but the food and beach facilities made it not an option. I checked out after two very long nights.

This is a must place to visit in DR.
First of all, it’s one of the most beautiful hotels on the northern shore, nestled in a lush environment. The beach is within a small distance from the casita/ rooms and it’s amazing. The turquoise water just relaxes you and allows you to contemplate the natural beauty around you.
I came down with a group of friends to celebrate a very special birthday and it turned out to to be an amazing experience.
The amenities were fabulous. We rented one of the casitas with a rooftop. The space was beautiful and fully equipped. We a minor issue with the living room AC and they made sure it was fixed as soon as possible.
In regards to the overall service, Angel, Maria Elena and Edwin made sure our group had the drinks and food flowing. All the lounge chairs/ towels were set up once they caught sight of us heading to the beach. They had many breakfast options for our group with different dietary restrictions.
I coordinated a special dinner on my birthday on the beach and I have to say we were happily surprised with how beautifully it was set up and the food, hats off to the Chef. We appreciated him coming to introduce himself to us. They prepared a wonderful meal with many options for the diverse group of people. Thank you again to the staff, Edwin, Maria Elena and the rest for providing wonderful service.
This coordination could not have happen without the help of the concierge team Kettia, Karina and Nicolas. Thank you working me and making sure everything was perfect and accommodating special requests to make the event perfect. You are amazing!
Lastly a call out to the Whispers Spa team: Yokeni, Maria Elena and the rest of the Spa team for the wonderful massages during our stay.

Can't say enough about this paradise!
As soon as you walk in your are automatically greeted with the friendliest staff. They have a beautiful rooms and buildings. Sublime offers a great variety on a complimentary breakfast.
We enjoyed how Sublime supplied, surfing boards, kayak, paddle boards, even a sail boat! All of those "beach toys" definitely helped us explore the ocean at a different level.
All staff was awesome, friendly and willing to help with anything at all times.
While enjoying the beach and drinks at the bar all staff was fantastic, as soon as we entered beach area we were brought towels and cushions for the beach chairs. Everyone went above and beyond especially Angel

This property, the location and the environment are simply paradise. The place is very secluded on Samana peninsula, surrounded by turquoise water, beaches and palm trees. The rooms are very generous in size, comfortable mattresses and a jacuzzi on the balcony definitely activate chill-out mode. The staff is very friendly and helpful with every desire. Huge shoutout to ANGEL, he is part of the beach staff and the cleaning ladies. Both Angel and the cleaning ladies are so attentive and forward-thinking. They even know what you need before you do and are extremely nice and supportive to make you stay one of a kind. Superior customer service. Highly recommend the place.

This was without a doubt the best place we could have stayed in our 8 day vacation in Las Terrenas. The service was OUTSTANDING, always taking the extra mile to make you feel comfortable and special. The hotel design is beautiful and feels very private. The room we stayed at was huge and with beautiful high ceilings. We had to work from the hotel room for a couple days and the internet speed was decent enough to attend our regular meetings without any interruptions.
The front desk service was always willing to help us find tours and activities around the area (for example a boat ride to Los Haitises and Cayo Levantado, and also schedule our PADI scuba diving certification). They also helped us get a COVID test before our flight back home.
The breakfast they offer is by far the best one we’ve had.
The restaurant “Palapa” had a great food selection and we would recommend the Seafood Parilla - the tuna was incredibly fresh and tasty. Also on our last night we had a beautiful Romantic Dinner with a menu made just for us.
I would definitely recommend this place. If I could give more stars I would.

Hi
We stayed at Sublime for 8 days just 2 weeks ago. Left to have lunch/ dinner many times.
Everyone is super friendly and willing to help with any questions.
I never feared for my safety( didn't leave at night as much : mostly for dinner , not for safety I just liked the alone time with my husband at Sublime )If you do leave Sublime at night just be aware it gets pretty dark n hard to see. Only negative is the driving. It's pretty hectic. You will be cut off, you will see wrong way drivers, you will see very minimal road /parking space.
I didn't travel with children but saw so many at Sublime and in Las Terrenas. It was our honeymoon ( reason why no children were with us not because of safety)
Theres a place down the beach of Sublime if your looking for different options of food as well. We had pizza and burgers in different areas in Las terrenas as well
Hope this helps
Hi
When we were there in mid June there was hardly any one there except for some crew members for a Mark Whalberg movie. It was a beautiful Stay! We did not notice the music to loud at Wyndham. There seemed to be enough trees with shade and lounges with umbrellas on side away from Wyndham. But again there wasn't many people there except for movie crew and they kept to themselves. My family got upgraded to presidential suite.!
