We just returned from 7 incredible nights at this beautiful spot! Every detail hit the mark for us; spacious, comfortable and spotless rooms, incredible views, delicious food, spectacular open-air lounge area, pristine beach and warm waves. But the real stand-out was the service; everyone there was beyond patient and accommodating with making our stay relaxing and comfortable. Jenniffer and Nathalie at reception and Darling, Andres and all the other extremely friendly and attentive folks at the restaurant were beyond great. Thank you so much - we can't wait to come back!!!

We stayed in one of the condo complexes in Playa Bonita and came here for drinks (and got to use their beachfront sun loungers) and lunch,
The place is always full and lively, so it's a good idea to reserve a table.
The drinks were top and lunch was very good. From their extensive menu, most of us had seafood soup with rice while the others had pizzas and a burger.
The service was prompt and attentive and the price was reasonable for a resort-beachfront location.

We just had the most amazing week at El Mosquito! We rented the family room which fit a family of 5 perfectly. This room is above the bar/restaurant and the closest room to the beach. Super private, amazing views, cleaned daily, comfy beds, minfridge and WiFi. More like a small house than a hotel room. French breakfast free daily. Ate dinner there nightly, great stone oven pizzas. Super casual and laid back environment - true vacation like. Great beach on Playa Bonita with Playa Coson a nice walk away. Constantly someone surfing to observe. Several pet dogs and kittens to play with and staff that become like family. The best beach bean bag chairs. Walking to the left takes you around the smooth waters of Cap Bonita with big sea grass fields and then to Playa Coson and Dos Rios and Restaurant Luis eventually. To the right, past some other developments, you can go over a worn path in the rock to a wonderful cove. Further, you can follow a path up into the rainforest for amazing views and more secluded beaches. Easy to get a ride to town or further trips to El Limon, Samaná Bay for whale watching, or Playa Rincon (I recommend taking trips to all of these). We rode with Carlos Marty all week long - such a nice young man with a new, clean van that even has its own WiFi connection. WhatsApp +1 (809) 756-6353

Went surfing in Playa Bonita, wife and kid were hungry and they got charged extra for food they did not order. Burger was suppose to come with salad and fries and they only got fries and got charged 5$US extra for fries. Brought receipt to cashier and she denied that it happened and eventually gave me back a refund with no apologies. Very dishonest restaurant looking to rip off tourists. Please give your business to a more honest operation.

I spent three (3) nights at The Mosquito Hotel prior to Covid. It was very pleasant and enjoyable. I also had the opportunity to also meet the owners who truly are passionate about this place and about giving their guests an exceptional experience.
The walk from my suite to the beach was no more than 50 metres and while the waters is a little bit rough infront of the hotel, just 100 metres down to the right is one of the most awesome beaches you'll ever encounter anywhere in the world. I went all three days of my stay to the beach and throughly enjoyed it.
The hospitality at the onsite restaurant was good but the menu could use a lttle more punch. Nevertjeles a relaxing a pleasant experience.
I particularly liked that the hotels in this area are small and intimate and the area infront of the beach in nicely curated with a high walk score with lots of small resto and bars along the beachfront.
I will go back to Mosquito Hotel in a heartbeat and have recommended it highly as a great little vacation spot.

The hotel is located right at the beach “La Bonita”, you can spend the day here enjoying the cozy atmosphere even if you are not guest of the hotel.

The restaurant offers great breakfast to affordable prices, just be aware that 10% service charge and 18% tax is not included in prices showed on the menu (like everywhere else).
The cappuccino is also very tasty, and they also serve great cocktails. We did not have lunch or dinner, but the menu seems good as well.

The whole area is very clean, same with the toilets, and there is a shower available just beside the bar.

There is also a surfing school, 2 bars, lovely seating area for chilling and a live DJ playing on weekend's in the afternoon until the dark. In the evening it is a silent place where you can enjoy listening to the waves or just walking along the ocean.

The view of the ocean is fantastic with palms giving a natural shade. Part of the beach in front have stronger waves, and there are surfers there, but if you walk a bit to the east or west, the ocean is calmer and it is easier to swim.

If you like more privacy with less people around, walk to the west and you will soon come to beach „La Coson”, an amazing sandy beach stretching a couple of kilometers to the west which you have almost entirely to yourself.

My Boyfriend and I stayed at this beautiful small hotel in January 2021 and it was one of the best experiences we had! Rooms are big and clean. Restaurant and Bar have a great variety of food and drinks. The beach is just like the name says Bonita.
Staff is very friendly and helpful. We would like to mention Jennifer, who works at reception and is just a superstar! She helped me already before arrival, as it was my boyfriend’s birthday during our stay. Jennifer organized balloons and a really amazing chocolate birthday cake and surprised my boyfriend! She knows how to go the extra mile. Thank you so much Jennifer!
It was a great mixture of guests, young and older from all over the world which gave the hotel a great relaxed vibe.
Location is great as you can go from las Terrenas to many nice tours by car like Samana, el limon waterfall, puerto plata, and many national parks.
We love our stay and will recommend it to friends and family a d hopefully come back one day!

Our recent stay at Mosquito Boutique Hotel was a major letdown. Upon arrival, our rooms had broken ACs, wet floors, and loud construction noise that wasn’t disclosed in advance. Privacy was also an issue—a construction worker looked into my bathroom while I was showering, which was incredibly disturbing.

Service was consistently poor. The waitstaff was slow, unresponsive, and often forgot our orders. One dinner took over three hours to arrive, and simple requests like juice were ignored multiple times. We even had to clean our own table at breakfast.

Room changes didn’t help either. Each room had issues, and at one point, we were asked to pay more for a room with a barely functioning AC.

Overall, the service at this hotel was far below expectations, especially considering the price. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for a relaxing stay or a special occasion. It was a thoroughly disappointing experience.

A sweet gem of a hotel, for many of the positive reasons noted in other reviews: beautiful scenery, chill atmosphere, sublime constant ocean roar, lots of shady spots, generous and tasty inclusive breakfast offerings, delicious food and great drinks available from early morning until late at night, highly responsive concierge through WhatsApp or in person. The restaurant waitstaff seemed professional and appropriate, rather than overly obsequious (a quality that has bothered me in some other places). And the dogs who roamed around seemed like the happiest canines on earth!

For what it’s worth, I also wish a few things could have been better, but none are significant enough to have kept us away (although I describe more significant concerns below). First, as mentioned in some other reviews, the music from the restaurant/bar permeates the whole place, which felt fun and inviting at the beginning, but got repetitive and intrusive as the days wore on. But it was helpful when the playlist changed from resort-type music (covers were fun at first, but exhausting on continual repeat!), to more regional and other sounds. So if the music has to stay on, it could be courteous to the guests to mix it up more often! Other suggested tweaks: nightlights to offset lack of bathroom doors (at least in our room); washcloths and not just towels.

A more signification concern, although likely to affect only a small number of people: I was drawn to this area because of the paved walkway very close to the ocean. Worth the trip for me, because I have mobility problems that limit my ability to get close to the beach and sea. Indeed, the paved walkway was amazing! But when I booked the reservation I was told I was being given a wheelchair accessible room. It wasn’t even close! There was a step up to the entrance of our room, and no bars in the shower or bathroom. Some of the paved areas were uneven, although negotiable overall. No obligation of the hotel to provide these amenities if they don’t want to do so, but they should be clear about what they offer. On the other hand, it would be great if they could add some bars in the bathroom, fix some of the broken pavement, and figure out room access without a step. The restaurant area also includes some steps, but the waitstaff could probably help in this regard.

Unfortunately this beautiful place has the worst service. We tried it out again and again but there is no progress in the service. You will be completely ignored by the waiters which are most of the time not even insight and we are talking about quiet times. We had to go to the bar for every drink and for the food and after 3 times of asking for the bill we were ready to take off without paying but again we went to the bar to ask for the bill. It is a shame because the place is beautiful. Maybe a supervisor would help.
