We were just in for weekend. We usually stay at higher end properties in las terrenas but we weren’t looking to spend a fortune and wanted something clean and close to town

The property has lots of trees and shady areas to relax. and great pool for after beach. The property needs a bit of power wash and clean up but understood as tourism reopens here that it will take higher occupancies to get hotel looking neat and tidy

However. Where is matters , the rooms are very tidy and fun. Bright walls, and great air conditioners and high quality sheets ! The bathroom could use bit facelift. But they
Are fine .. better towels would be nice

The balcony area definitely needs a fan to help keep mosquitoes away. It was impossible to enjoy a drink out there

What shines that most about this hotel is the
Lovely and attentive staff. Not overbearing but just the right amount of helpful. Great included breakfast and daily room service but pool side drink service all from what appears to be 3 women team.

We stayed two weeks in this property and had a very good time. The place is slightly outside the center but reachable in 10 minutes on foot. The structure is surrounded by greenery and has a very nice central swimming pool. The staff is friendly but you need to know Spanish well! Good breakfast served, let's say that for a two week stay a change would have been nice because for two weeks we ate either eggs or pancakes so plenty of eggs ehehe! There is no TV which would have been a good alternative in case it rained, but being on holiday you certainly can't complain. The only flaw perhaps with the money you spend to stay they could give you water for free, at least one bottle to brush your teeth. Secondly, I would improve the food options. If you get hungry you can order takeaway because the hotel only offers burgers or sandwiches during the times when the "responsible" is present. Having said that, it is a pleasant place to spend your holidays and certainly an oasis of relaxation and tranquility. The rooms are comfortable. We had a good time

This hotel is basic. Staff is very attentive and food is super yum! The pool is always clean. I've stayed here 3 times. Great restaurants and Playa de Pescadores beach are just 5 mins. walk distance. I'm planning to go back as soon as touristic economy reopens.

We came at Easter and we had a very bad experience.
The Villas that are attached to the Hotel have very loud music constantly and throughout the night making it impossible to sleep. (We have recorded videos that corroborate this and we sent them to the manager Lidia).
The first night all the hotel guests went to complain and no one did anything about it.
In addition, it is the only hotel that makes you pay before arrival of all the ones we stayed in and then we understood why.
On the other hand, the shower faucet broke on the second day of our stay.
We did not have any type of compensation or details from the hotel.
While it is true that the hotel is beautiful, the management disaster and terrible customer service made our experience horrible.
There are many hotels in the Dominican Republic and I would not recommend this one to anyone.

I confirm a previous comment! We were robbed of 16,000 pesos or around €250 by February 2024 during our stay in this hotel! Obviously the cleaning lady! The management did not want to know anything and no compensation! Scandalous! To avoid !

If you want a stay in a peaceful place within a lovely garden then stay here.
This hotel is situated a little in the edge of the town and a small unpaved road leads to it, and that means that you are free of traffic noise. It only takes about 10 minutes to walk to the center of town.
The rooms/bungalows/haciendas (I don't not the right word for it) is situated around the pool in the lovely and peaceful garden and as we stayed here for 3 nights we were only surrounded by quiet people.
Our room was spacey with a double bed down and 3 beds upstairs. The room was a little dark, but it is also possible to sit outside the room at a covered private terrace.
We have had dinner twice at the hotel and it was really good quality and well tasting.
It only takes 5 minutes to go to the new build arcade with several very good restaurants.
You can go to a very lovely and unturistic beach in about 5 to 20 minutes depending on how much loneliness you want but go to the left as you reach the beach - away from the town.
There are free wi-fi both in the rooms and at the restaurant.

We stayed there for 3 nights. The room was clean, but simple. At night we couldn't sleep because of the noise comming from frogs around, peeping like a little bird.In the roof of our terras we had a mouse comming out when it was dark. The bed was very hard, woke up every morning with pain in our back.We wanted to eat one night at the restaurant from this hotel and they forgot to take our order. After 1 hour we left without eating. There was no organisation or structure in the restaurant.Only the Italian people got the attention, because the owners are Italian too.The swimming pool and breakfast were the only positive things at this B&B.When we left we even had to discuss the price, because it was different then our reservation paper we had from the website where we made the booking. The owner said this was because of the raid of the $ & €,the price could change.....???We paid what we had to pay,but they will never see us again. So,only go there if you have an Italian nationality.

Response from maitecan, Manager at La Tortuga B&B Hotel
Responded 28 Mar 2015
Hi, thanks for taking time to write a comment. Your problem was the different gear Euro US $ which seemed you understood. We posted prices in US $ then if the euro loses 25% on US $, we can not be responsible. If that were the case I would be brooker and not manager of hotels. All the rest of your comment is consequent to this. With best regards ...............Maurizio.

La Tortuga was what I have expected by its general description, other guests reviews and pictures: It is an unpretentious Hotel with all the advertised services . The accomodation was comfortable and private, with possibilities of sitting outside viewing the swimming pool and the big "bohio" where the dinning, bar and kitchen are located. From the moment of our arrival, the faces were friendly and very helpful. Maurizio gave us the full scope of the area and layed out all the choices for day trips and entertainment that could be arranged with his help. A very forceful body massage was arrannged with Mr. Ton Brown (local masseuse) which was very good. The biggest surprise was the quality of the dinner choices, presented and orchestrated by Isabel, who starts saying: "Si puedo..." and gives you the menu choices. The final surprise? Maurizio climbing of the small bus to check if my sister and I had made it to the proper transport while leaving this meadow of peace and warmth. Muchisimas gracias for a wonderful time !!!

This was our second time staying at La Tortuga, two weeks of great food and even better service. Maurizio, the owner, is fantastic and we were happy to see that the three young women, Josefina, Iris and Elsa, who do most everything at the hotel, are still there. Also it seems that Chloe the cat is still relaxing in her favorite chair. My wife Marie and I meet our friends each winter in Las Terrenas and love staying at La Tortuga. It's quiet, and a short walk to town, restaurants and the beaches . The pool and the grounds are beautiful and the rooms are kept spotless every day thanks to the care of the three girls meantioned above. We look forward, not only to seeing our friends from the USA, but also our friends fron La Tortuga again next year.

Great value for money place, really nice, comfortable and clean. Parking space as well, a nice pool and a decent breakfast service. A 10 minute walk from a great beach, and also close to restaurants and small shops.
