The Royal Berkshire Hotel is lauded for its serene location, close to airports and family-friendly areas, set amid tranquil and picturesque surroundings. While the hotel's amenities and cleanliness receive high marks, with special mentions of the inviting bar and garden, some guests feel the hotel falls short in providing value, citing overpriced food and a desire for greater variety. The rooms are celebrated for their spaciousness and comfort, although there are occasional remarks about accessibility and temperature regulation. Service is generally commended for its professionalism, despite isolated instances of delays.

A beautiful hotel.
Our room was perfect.
We had booked to stay, whilst on a visit to Windsor to see our little granddaughter who was only a few days old.
The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. When we checked in to our room, the hotel had left a lovely note for us and some chocolate truffles… to congratulate us on the birth of our granddaughter such a lovely generous touch. 😊.
Breakfast was delicious too.
We will definitely be returning in our next visit.

We stayed at the Berkshire on New Year’s Eve it was just one night but from the moment we walked through the door we were welcomed with professionalism and warmth.

We planned to eat in the bar area but because we had three small (loud) kids, the staff were amazing allowed our family to eat in a private dining room (the library) which put us at ease.

All the team were excellent and the food and service superb, in particular Martin couldn’t do enough for us and Julia also was really good with the kids thank you so much we are definitely coming back.

My partner and I loved everything about this hotel. From the service to the food, everything was amazing. I had the Pork Belly, which was on their specials for the night, it was ace. The hotel is very well located too, very close to Windsor. The hotel grounds are lovely. I also found out that they use a special machine to disinfect the rooms after every stay, I saw plenty of sanitiser stations around too, I definitely felt safe being there. Will definitely find an excuse to go back again.

Only stayed the one night B&B, very clean and staff were all lovely. The receptionist Katie was excellent and very polite, we stayed in a "cool" room which has recently been decorated to a high standard, bed was big and very comfortable. Breakfast was full english and cooked to a high standard and delicious. Electronic facial temperature tester in reception along with hand sanitizer so very covid concious. Grounds of hotel are a joy to walk around with ample parking. Approx 5 mile drive from windsor town and 3 mile max to windsor great park plus close to virginia waters. First time I have stayed here and will definitely be returning more often and for longer breaks. Thanks to all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

I booked a last minute break with secret escapes for my husband and I as we needed a break 1 night bb and evening meal in a suite for £199 ...WOW..didn’t realise it was there first day opening after lockdown and what a beautiful place to arrive at very clean and attentive staff very professional and totally prepared for the new normal ...we had a temperature check on arrival and face coverings were advised whilst waiting to be given our room.
We had arrived early as our journey was only 45 minutes and thought we may have to wait for our room due to 3pm check in but we were given our room on arrival which was great and what a room we were given it was the polo suite on the top floor and it was absolutely stunning a lovely entrance and a massive sitting room and a separate bedroom with the most comfortable bed and the best was the varanda overlooked the beautiful maintained gardens we felt very spoilt.. we had went into the seating area down stairs and we sat by the window overlooking the garden and once again all very professional and attentive staff they have a lunch menu where you can have a sandwich and great selection of cocktails .
Evening meal was also a good choice of food but there was a supplement on the steak if you booked with secret escapes which was fine the food was delicious from the Cesar salad to the burger or steak very well presented I would definitely recommend this hotel not only for couples as there were a few families staying here too as you are pretty close to Windsor Castle

So, we had our company's conference at the venue and we stayed 3 nights. From the very first day I had a very warm welcome from the front office team, especially Liliana, whom I found very professional, supportive and highly engaged with her job. She was very knowledgeable about the location and the area, providing me with some useful tips on the surrounding. Her fantastic customer service character made me feel that I can count on her at all times and that I can rely if I need assistance. Thank you Lily for making my stay absolutely fabulous! The venue itself is a great escape from everyday life, has a very cozy feeling, with some antique touches inside the rooms and lobby. Breakfast was also great, thanks Chef for that ! I would recommend this place for getaway and finding some peace far from the city and the buzz we experience in our daily life. Many thanks for the lovely experience.

We visited today with friends and had such a nice afternoon. The afternoon tea was extremely good value and comparable to any good afternoon tea in central London, as was the wonderful service. They brought out a candle and cake for my friend’s birthday and provided a very generous sandwich and tea refill. We were amazed to be literally the only table in there from 3-6pm on a Saturday, except for one other couple. Such a shame for the hotel as it was so well done and very Covid compliant e.g. masks when moving around, sanitiser, temperature checker when you walk in, plus very light and airy. It’s a good time to visit if you want the place to yourself!

I have travelled the world staying in mid to luxury hotels and this without question is the worst for what it says you get on its web to what you actually get. Not only was the room or rather Suite not as described it was the service that can at best be described as the worst I have experienced. Dog friendly it is not any dog owners should not fall for that one. I left a day early after being charged £301 for 1 night I still have not received an actual bill, add the cost of fuel and the clothes I left in the room for over £500 I was unable to achieve what I went for but experienced the worst ever service and room well so called suite. I am so apocalyptically angry about the whole experience I cannot tell you. I am still setting with anger at the dated room to the lack of service to be unable to eat. I just cant say how bad the whole experience was.

Have just stayed for 2 nights for a family wedding, the grounds are beautiful and there are a lot of opportunities for photos and family games (frisbee golf, football nets and Chequers) but that is honestly where the good review ends.
Reading other reviews from 3+ years ago it is clear that the issues of disabled access have not been addressed. Ground floor rooms still require negotiation of steps on several levels of the ground floor, there is a wheelchair lift in one area, but there are many steps to get in and out from the garden.
If the wedding ceremony is in the walled garden the only access is via the grass lawns and it is perfectly aligned to be in full sun during the summer afternoon. There are no wheelchairs or “golf buggies“ that can be loaned for the purpose of transporting guests with mobility problems around the grounds and a total absence of solid paths (all gravel or grass)
There is NO air conditioning in many bed rooms including the ground floor, so anyone who is vulnerable on hot days especially the elderly are not protected. Dyson blades were provided but were inadequate in a lot of cases especially on the third floor.
The food was very good but the service was terrible, At the welcome dinner a couple of people waited for almost an hour before their entrees were served - everyone else had finished theirs. and throughout our stay the bar was manned by youngsters who did not know any specialized drinks such as cocktails.
I would not choose this venue for the happiest day of your life if you value the happiness of your family and friends especially anyone disabled, elderly or infirm. This hotel needs serious investment into air conditioning, disabled ramps and mobility assistance.

Dear KEinSF Thank you for your constructive feedback following your recent visit in celebration of a family wedding. We have made many accessible changes to the hotel, from an accessible toilet on the ground floor, a lift to the ground floor, and access to public areas. We also have portable ramps that will allow access outside onto the beautiful gardens. Air conditioning is available in over 60% of our bedrooms in a variety of different parts of the hotel. Unfortunately this does not include the ground floor. I'm very sorry we clearly did not meet your expectatoins regarding food and drinks service. We will continue to invest in the hotel as we have done for many years and take on board yourconstructive comments - thank you once again for bringing these to our attention. With kind regards

We visited Royal Berkshire as part of the Bridal party for an Exclusive Use wedding this month.

RB is most certainly a solid four star venue with great potential. Staff were efficient, attentive and polite. The room we had was spacious, comfortable and clean. We cannot remember the bar staffs names from both the drinks reception in the Polo Bar and then the gentlemen managing the wedding bar in the evening - apologies however everyone was great!

In relation to the wedding there were a few details which were missed or could have been dealt with better. Sadly a place setting was missed from the table plan, however once the Ops team were notified this was rectified swiftly. The way in which luggage for guests was stored in the restaurant could have been more organised. The Bride and Grooms luggage should have been delivered to the Churchill Suite however this was sadly missed. Small details to some but attention to detail makes a lasting impression.

Overall great stay, great staff!

Hi, If you are travelling by car do take a look at the AA routeplanner website and it will show you the route. The journey should take about an hour depending on traffic. If you are planning on using public transport then the rail option is to take the train from Gatwick to Clapham Junction and then down to Ascot. The price should be roughly £20 and take 1 1/2 hours. Have a look at national rail website for other route options. Can't seem to list website links in the reply unfortunately. The coach service between Gatwick and Heathrow is very good and should take a similar amount of time and cost £25. From Heathrow I would take a taxi which should take around 25mins and costs £30. Getting to Heathrow from the hotel I would take a taxi. Please contact the hotel directly for full website links and details Regards
