Hotel's Favourite
Stayed with family at the Millbrook Resort in Arrowtown over a weekend in August-September. We were driven to our room in a buggy by a very nice porter and shown our room. The room itself was huge and had all the amenities you would need. The room in which I was in had the toilet separate from the shower and bathtub, which was interesting, but in this part of the world, it is the norm.
The room's location was tranquil, aesthetic and quiet. I also appreciate that you could cast your device on the TV, which was great if I didn't want to watch the local channels.
The pool and fitness centre was great. The staff who were working at the fitness centre were lovely and friendly.
Millbrook Restaurant was great as we had dinner there on one of the nights.
I also appreciate the Millbrook Shuttle that was available should we want to quickly go into exciting Queenstown.
Definitely recommend this place to those coming to the South Island for a visit!

This property is one of best resorts we stayed in. It has all the amenities that an active couple would be looking for. We played tennis there used the spa facilities swimming pool and I even used the yoga studio and did my own practice given that I could not get into the yoga classes. They offer free yoga classes for guests and I think that is very generous although mostly fully booked by their members. The MillHouse offers best local cuisine using local produce which we enjoyed a lot. I recommend the tomatoes starter which is out of this world, a perfection dish with infused ice cold favor and fresh tomatoes. Services were excellent with staff having a great attitude toward guests. They even provide Elemis bath products. If there is one suggestion I would ask they put 2 bottles of shampoo and bath gel instead of one each for 2 people is not enough. I highly recommend this property if you are worry about staying away from Queenstown. It is only 15 minutes drive to town and airport. It is a much better choices than any others in Queenstown

Just Wow, this is such a wonderful place, we didn't want to leave. It is so picturesque, and the services are top notch. Not at all pretentious, just warm, and caring. We felt so well looked after. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We appreciated the friendly drivers who would take us to Arrowtown and pick us up at our request, or into Queenstown (on set hours). The breakfast is fantastic, as is Millhouse, and Kobe. We didn't get to try the Spa because they were fully booked for the 4 days we were there. Tip: pre-book the spa if you intend to go. We stayed in a Deluxe Studio, which was spacious, with comfy kIng bed, large bath with separate shower, and separate toilet. It had beautiful views! Can't wait to go back!

Played this course twice recently and covered all 27 holes. The course itself is pretty good, certainly better than most however it comes at a premium. We expected some attention to detail with certain things given the amount of money we paid. We were given a cart with a GPS system that didn’t work. We politely requested to change to another cart and were told we could not. This is despite a line up of empty carts with fully functional GPS systems. On arrival we were informed that all tee times were delayed due to frost on the course. I don’t believe it was cold enough for there to be a frost but I can’t be certain, maybe it was. With two hours to wait we enquired about using the range and were subsequently charged extra to do so. This is despite paying hundreds of dollars to play the course. After shaking our heads and rolling our eyes at this we paid a few bucks and made our way to the range only for there to be no balls available. Imagine attending a course such as Millbrook and having to walk onto the range to collect a few balls to enable yourself to have a hit that you just paid extra for the privilege of doing so. I think the Millbrook people have forgotten that to charge the price you need to provide the service.

We spent 3 nights at Millbrook over Christmas and we had a wonderful time. Our one bed suite was very nicely appointed with views of the golf course and mountains. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful, Christmas Day lunch was delicious and the Hole in One Cafe was great too - have the lamb pizza, it's amazing!
There were just a couple of things that I'd recommend for improving:
1. At breakfast, only filter coffee was included, if you wanted espresso-based drinks, you had to pay for them. When you're charging the rates that this place charges (which are high, but worth it, by the way!), I really feel that any coffee should be included. After all, the cost to the resort is basically nothing, and it was just a little jarring.
2. At breakfast, the a la carte menu was tasty, but all of us had at least one instance where what we asked for wasn't brought or was brought incorrectly. This would be easily solved by just giving the wait staff a pad and pen so they could write it down properly.
These were both really small things, and didn't detract from our stay (you can see I still gave a five star rating), but these sorts of things would have elevated it to absolute perfection.
Regardless, we had a wonderful time and would love to return. Thanks to all the staff for working so hard over Christmas to make sure we had a good time! It's also brilliantly located - 20 minutes' drive from the Queenstown madness and just a few minutes from Arrowtown's lovely little Main Street and its restaurants.

It's been a few of years since we have stayed at Millbrook, the location is spectacular and relaxing
We stayed in a deluxe suite which was well appointed and beautifully furnished with the lovely lodge feel, was very warm and had a nice outlook over the golf course. Interestingly I would think like many 5 star hotels they could put Nespresso machines in the rooms rather than dated coffee plungers
Our biggest disappointment with our stay was the lack of dining options . We were looking forward to a relaxing evening at the resort and dining at the Millhouse restaurant which has such great reviews. We had no desire to go into Arrowtown or Queenstown. On check in we were told that there were limited dining options and these were fully booked as the resort was very busy. We did go to the hole in one bar for a drink but told we had to leave by 6.45 and we could only get room service for food.
We appreciate it's difficult at the moment with Covid level 2 restrictions but apparently the resort was 'very busy' so why couldn't they open all the dining facilities to accommodate guests particularly on a Friday/Saturday . When I booked there was nothing obvious on the home page to indicate dining options were very limited hence I hadn't thought to make a prior booking
We also felt that the reception and bar staff didn't appear to be particularly interested in ensuring you had an amazing experience at the resort. Not quite the same experience this time as previous stays at Millbrook.

Dear Guest Thank you for taking the time to leave us this review. Although I am happy to see you loved the accommodation I am sorry you were unable to dine at either of our restaurants. We have been busy at times but also incredibly quiet at others therefor we currently only have 2 of our 3 restaurants open, we hope to have the Millhouse back before Christmas. We currently inform our guests through our booking confirmation and EDM's however I will look into other ways we can communicate this. Once again I am sorry this last visit didn't live up to previous experiences. Kind Regards, Ross Mclean

Wonderful stay in a 2 bedroom apartment for 4 nights with family members occupying two other rooms too. Would be perfect except for a few things. No option of a shuttle into Queenstown at 7pm or 8pm which was hopeless. 6pm shuttle was booked every night of our stay and 9pm was too late when the last shuttle returns at 10. Absolutely no compendium in the apartment so had no idea what was on offer food-wise or where to go for a run/walk eg: is there a path around the resort? Did enquire about renting bikes but the cost was 1/3rd more than the bike shop in Arrowtown and they deliver which seems nuts. Also no toilet brushes in bathrooms which when travelling with teens also seemed odd. A few marks on the carpet and couches are in definite need of replacing but other than this, the setting is beautiful. The apartment was huge and lovely and cosy. The fitness centre and outdoor spas were superb. Shuttle drivers to Arrowtown were fabulous. Great stay.

We rented one of the houses on the resort, and it did not disappoint. Located around the edges of the golf course, the house was well appointed and maintained, and made the whole time we were there that much more relaxing.
Milbrooks facilities are typical of a 5* hotel, but their pricing overall was typical for Queenstown rather than very pricey - and that means value wise it was actually ok. Given a choice I’d prefer to stay here than in town with the tourist crush.

We booked a Central Otago 1 night package in a deluxe studio and wished we’d booked longer the minute we got there. Our rustic looking Otago cottage style room was nothing but luxurious and cosy on the inside. With the biggest most comfy bed ever, a generous Bath and shower, gas fire and plush carpets. I was in heaven enjoying my complementary cheese platter and Pinot noir. We sat outside Smithy bar for a pre dinner drink and then caught the free shuttle in to Arrowtown for dinner.
The icing on the cake was the resort getting us a booking at Aosta when we couldn’t as it was fully booked. The resort grounds are so perfect it’s dream like, I just want to live there in a perfect dream life. Definately going back!

After reading all the positive reviews my husband and I were excited to spend two nights at Millbrook in a one bedroom apartment. The check in process was smooth and easy, we were escorted to our room in a golf buggy and given a tour of the resort. The grounds are immaculately maintained and the property itself is massive, over 650 acres I believe.
In terms of our room, we were allocated a ground floor unit very close to reception (room 101). First impressions we loved it, very cosy, comfortable and spacious. Be mindful you can choose whether your room has a lounge or kitchen, you don’t get both. The bed, while comfortable, is simply two single mattresses clipped together.
The bathroom is somewhat dated, but adequate. Unfortunately our underfloor heating wasn’t working, but it was no biggie. Unfortunately the shower was a real problem, the temperature would change every 5 seconds from boiling hot to freezing cold. We therefore showered as quickly as possible, it was that bad.
The other major issue we had with the room was the noise. Our unit had an interconnecting door to the unit next door, which unfortunately meant you could hear our neighbours tv and conversation. They were by no means loud, but you could literally hear every single word of the conversation. I’m quite sensitive to noise so I did have an issue with this. Also, when the guests upstairs flushed their toilet this was very noticeable in our bedroom. I was surprised this issue hasn’t been raised much in previous reviews, perhaps we were simply unlucky. For us the intrusive noise detracted from the romantic “get away from it all” few days we’d hoped for. The second issue was housekeeping inadvertently leaving our side door wide open while we were out for the day. Another minor, small gripe is the fact the complimentary amenities (shower gel, shampoo etc) had expired.
We did have a really lovely dinner at the hole in one, the food was exceptional, I’d highly recommend to all. We couldn’t get in to Kobe either night as it was fully booked. This was probably due to the fact we were in level 2 and therefore the restaurant had to limit numbers. Advice would still be to book well in advance. I had a massage at the spa, which was nice, but in my opinion on par with spas in other 5 star resorts. The receptionist was overly pretentious.
Again, this massage was booked approx 10 days in advance and even then I was lucky to get a spot.
Overall, we weren’t blown away by Millbrook and I doubt we would return, given the abundance of exceptional accommodation options in the surrounding areas.

Dear Guest Thank you for taking the time to leave us this review. Although I am happy to see you enjoyed certain aspects of the resort I am sorry you had issues with both the shower and noise. As you mentioned we don't really get many complaints like this as we have tried to soundproof most areas however I will go up to the Villa myself to inspect this further, I will also have our maintenance team check the shower to see what was causing the issue. There are certainly areas in this review for us to improve on so thank you for the feedback. Kind regards, Ross Mclean

Definitely-we aren’t golfers but it is Great place for lovely walks.Couldnt fault accommodation and friendly staff -we had a great time
Sorry, I can not assist as we traveled around in a rental car.
You can walk but the resort does a 24/7 shuttle service which is free. They took us in for dinner one night and we got that restaurant to call them when we had finished. They do the same if you fancy lunch or a shop.
The room we occupied would certainly accommodate 2 young children with parents. You would need extra bedding - a cot or rollaway bed.
