Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The restaurant was great both the food and service. The check in was smooth and staff lovely. Our room is large and perfect for a family. The only downside is it is very tired. The bathroom is very dated. The floors had not been swept or vacuumed and the bathroom needs re grouting. The dining table needed a wipe down. I don’t mind dated but I’d expect it to be cleaner. This is reason for the 2 stars. Amenities wise it scored higher. The kids loved the pool area. There is a laundry too.

Basic old-style brick motel block with multi-bed cabins. Very dated decor and bathroom facilities within each room I.e. shower screen water proofing and shower tray definitely showing wear of the years. Bed not terribly comfortable, double size for starters = quite tight fit for the two of us literally on the edge of the bed and not good mattresses in terms of firmness. Sign very clearly stated that not having washed our own cups or glasses would attract a $25 per day housekeeping charge - sorry but that is outrageous when paying over $200 per night.

Lovely people in the restaurant and reception, very accomodating. Restaurant, Savannah Bar and Restaurant limited but expectable Outback Australian fare, of a high quality and flavour.

On the fringes of Katherine, definitely need your own transport to access any alternative restaurants or shops.
Good jumping off point to get to Nitmiluk Gorge Cruises plus location to get to Cutta Cutta Caves and other attractions nearby.

I spent 1 night here for work and it was enough. The whole place reeks of cigarettes. Guests are not supposed to smoke in rooms, but they clearly do and it's difficult to get the stench out so not sure what can be done.

However, housekeeping needs be improved. My first room I looked at had the tape over the toliet indicating it was clean, but there was a little poo in the toliet. Housekeeping are not cleaning properly. Other indicators include spider webs throughout bathroom and hair in the drain. This is just lazy.

If these issues could be fixed then I think overall rating would improve. However, cabins are very dated with holes in the wall. The outside bathrooms are not very convenient and would expect better given the nightly price.

We stayed in a motel room and the experience evoked staying in motels of the 70’s. Whilst I think this place was probably built in the 80’s, it definitely took its vibe from an era a loooooong time ago. It would be very easy to bring this place up to date, but with limited accom in Katherine, I guess they can overcharge and give nothing.

Our room door was so old it stuck and could hard open without a push. I mean how much is a new door from Bunnings? Does housekeeping just ignore this?

My biggest amusement is that a sign in the room states that unless you clean your own dishes it’s a $25 charge from housekeeping. Um, hello - has anyone heard of Covid? What’s even worse is they don’t proved dishwashing liquid. I’m not precious and am quite capable of washing a couple of glasses and cups, but really $25 on top of the ridiculous room price (over $200 a night) in an era when we need to know hygiene standards are met.

The beds are really uncomfortable.

The nylon industrial carpet and peach curtains just give an air of “we don’t care”. But to be fair, it is clean.

If it was charged $75 a night I’d just suck it up and expect this, but it’s not. Choices are limited, but caveat emptor!

The bright spot was the young Indian lady who checked us in. If the place met her warmth and welcome it would have been worthwhile. Oh and the gardens are nice lol

We were so happy with this place, we arrived late at night in a hired motorhome, overbooked (we had booked through Katherine Visitor Centre as everything was chock full in Katherine), but they fit us into a coach parking space with power and water (thank you so much!) The manager was so helpful, and we got into the wonderful restaurant by the pool for a late dinner which cheered my family up no end after a long day driving from Alice Springs. My son had an enormous T-bone steak and the beef curry was amazing. When we woke up in the morning we discovered the grounds are beautiful too.

Was upgraded from a cabin to a deluxe motel room which was a nice welcome! Lovely clean room, undercover parking and staff were very friendly. Only thing we found odd was having to do our own dishes otherwise we’d incur a $25 fee. Asked if housekeeping could drop in a bottle of dishwashing liquid. Just glad my partner read the sign in the kitchen 😅 other than that great stay!

We spent 2 nights here with our family of 4 (2 adult children) in a cabin so we could visit the gorge. The cabin has its own bathroom outside of the cabin, several metres away. The park is large, with both motel rooms, cabins and a on site restaurant and bars. The cabin and bathroom are a bit jaded, with room for improvement but the air conditioner worked so we could all sleep.
There was a bit of partying from a large group close to us, that continued until around 11 pm, when it suddenly stopped, which was appreciated. I understand that these groups have probably helped these facilities survive in these COVID times, however this behaviour may bother others close by who want to sleep earlier.
The park is conveniently located in shady environment and the bar was a pleasant place to sit to enjoy a drink.
Overall, it was fine, but not outstanding.

Was very disappointed with our choice to stay here, our room had paper thin walls and all you could hear was banging from the people in the next room, and if that wasn't bad enough people running up and down all night on the verandah ( rooms are off the ground with decking out the front) so sleep was near on impossible.
Showers were filthy even my teenager made sure he wore thongs in there and teenage boys aren't usually too fussy.
On check out the following morning they tried to charge me $15 for drinks at the bar which were paid for when ordered and we hadn't even told them our room number, and the beer wasn't even cold!
Definitely will not be staying here again

We booked our accommodation In advance over the phone and requested a cabin with cooking and parking. When we arrived we were greeted by reception staff who told us we had a free upgrade as our cabin needed the air-conditioner repaired, the accommodation was a motel room with no cooking and no parking which was upsetting. When we asked if we could be moved they said tomorrow morning we can move to a village room. I looked at their village rooms and there was no parking next to our accommodation, then they said they found a cabin. Well the cabin did have cooking but was not able to cook on due to heat noT working properly, (Not even able to boil water) fridge had shelves missing (limited space) dirty bed skirt and when removed the bed base was ripped and very old state. Roller blinds missing, curtains too long and dirty. I left a written complain with the receptionist (form supplied in our room for feed back) with no reply and when I phoned a few weeks later to ask was my concerns address, it was a very disappointing reply. I just wish they could have informed me of the change of plans with my accommodation before we arrived after a long days drive.
3 days stay in Katherine was not a good experience.

I stay here regularly for work. The rooms are bit inconsistent in terms of what works. Sometimes you’ll get a room with a noisy fan, aircon or neither both.

The rooms are always clean, shower decent, basic amenities and nice sized rooms.

Food is decent, expensive like everything else in Katherine and varies in quality. It seemed to be a bit better about 6 or so months ago.

There are two things that drive me insane that can be fixed:

- The damn doors! There is no kind of padding or anything between frame and door and because a lot of people have no sense of decency for others, it’s easy to slam the doors at all hours of the morning with the power of 1000 suns. I’m talking a proper slam waking you up if you’re a light sleeper. Just needs some kind of stopper installed or something. This is worse in the row of rooms on the left when driving in. Thankfully there is decent insulation between rooms.

- The rooms along a row at the left could benefit from a bollard at the walk way or some blocks on the floor so you can’t move your wheels past it meaning you can’t park right up to the door. There are many tradies that stay here that back their ute right up to their door with little room to walk behind it. Yep no big deal, but again the type of people who don’t care how they park.
