Reception:
Emily at reception is very welcoming and is a lovely person whom assisted us greatly.

Room / facilities:
Room number 205 is on the 1st floor and is of good size.
Decor is very tired and in need of refreshing. Internal entry roof is very dirty, wood on the cupboard is rotting.
The room has a Queen bed and single bed, flat screen TV, very large 2 single seats and table, along with a desk.
The fridge is so old that it barely cools.
Self control air conditioning (cool only- no fan option) with a french doors that overlooks the pool.
During our morning shower we found a tick like insect crawling in the floor.

Laundry:
Finding the self service laundry is a challenge in itself, as signage is very poor.
The laundry has 1x washers and 3x dryers costing $4 per use of each machine.
Change and detergent is available at reception.
During my visit two of the dryers machines were inoperable, leaving 1 washer and 1 dryer for 110+ guest rooms.

Parking:
plentiful and free

Wifi:
Slow, (similar speeds to 3G) but eventually does the job.

Breakfast:
Buffet breakfast consists of limited hot food a cold foods including 3x cereal, breads and pastries.
Nespresso coffee pods and orange or apple juice.

Conclusion:
Excellent staff.
Nightly Room cost is very very excessive for old, tired and unclean rooms.
Staff, Sonny, Aiden, Henna and Emily were very helpful and friendly.

Letdowns:
Excessively priced hotel with poor cleaning including bed lined and towels, lack of maintenance, old tired decor, walkways are dusty and dirty, linen our bed was stained, towels stained and items of the full suite of basic towels missing.
Level 1 Room numbers are extremely hard to see at night under the dimly lit walkways. Light shades are dusty and external floors are dirty.
Our room was made up but were not given any fresh towels.

Hi Neil Thanks for your detailed review - I've shared your assessment with the team and be assured that actionable items will be addressed by the various department heads involved. Our remote location does provide challenges with Wi-Fi access and getting equipment fixed as swiftly as it would be in the city, however the spectacular natural environment of Kakadu is what our guests come to experience. So pleased to hear the staff provided great service and thanks for recognising Sonny, Aiden, Henna and Emily in your review.

The staff at the reception desk and in the restaurant were exceptional and couldn't do enough for you. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, especially with the NT resident's special at $99/night. Thank you!

All this hotel needs is new mattresses in all the rooms, and new sheets. The springs seem to have lost their support and the sheets have worn thin. Also, the cleaners need to pull out beds and cabinets and vacuum underneath.

The location is great for staging your day time excursions into Kakadu however the hotel is old and tired. I doubt the the rooms have had anything updated since the original build in 1988. The ensuites in particular are in a poor state. Our shower head sprayed water randomly to one side. The base of the door was rotted out so much that the bottom piece of timber dragged across the tiled floor as it was opened and closed. The only positive comment is the the Raymor Academy 1/4 turn tapware has stood the test of time.
We stayed 5 nights and in that time it was serviced 3. The pool was never cleaned. Each day you will find plastic wrappers, cups, Band-Aid’s and anything else the local kids have decide to throw into it.
If you want to have dinner at the hotel you must book as preference appears to be given to the bus loads of guests over those travelling on their own. Booking is still not an assurance that they have allocated you a table as we found out.
Every night is a buffet. The staff seem to do their best but getting a drink at the bar is chaotic. Even more challenging for most guests seems to be making your own coffee at breakfast. The hotel has 2 amazing Nespresso coffee machines that bewilder most first timers creating a long line waiting for your turn.
I understand that there are few other choices if you chose to stay at Jabiru. The hotels can charge what they want but at $350 + per night I expected so much more.

Very nice place to stay. Very central in Kakadu. The staff here very helpful. They are mostly students of work visas enjoying the country. Nice restaurant and in November it is the only restaurant open! Very nice swimming pool, which was an asset as it was extremely hot at this time of year.

The food here really is amazing. We all enjoyed our meals, particularly our 14yo son with his kangaroo salad. We were all surprised he ordered it, and he loved it. We added on a buffet breakfast that evening since I hadn't pre-booked it with the room. $20 per adult, kids are free, but it's $25 on the morning if you don't pre-book. It was a full hot and cold buffet but apparently on quieter mornings they only offer a cold buffet with a choice of one hot dish from the menu. There was a great variety of dishes, with about ten groups of people dining.

The pool is fantastic, fully shaded. I imagine it gets really busy in the tourist season but at this time of year, at midday when it was too hot to go out exploring, we had the pool mostly to ourselves until one other young family arrived.

After reading reviews I did not expect too much with the room itself. We were very happy. It appeared very modern, clean and had everything we needed, with two double beds plus a sitting area. There were bedside lights and room lights, a good sized tv and clock. The fridge seemed to struggle with cooling our water bottles but by the next morning they were cool. Yes the bathroom is a little dated but it was still in a good clean condition.

All the staff were so polite and helpful, and all seemed to enjoy their jobs. I would even say that the staff here were possibly the best we had encountered in our whole ten-day Top End visit. They even allowed us to check in two hours early (thankfully it was a low tourist season). They make me feel like I would enjoy working there.

We booked only three weeks in advance and found the price was much much cheaper directly through their website, than other sites, around $140.

We booked the stay and package via Darwin Tourism Centre utilising our Tourism Voucher.

We arrived at bad timing (started pouring rain), my friend had his light urged so stayed outside as the only place in entire hotel you can light out is main entrance area.

I went inside and the reception - a caucasian bloke with no name tag seems busy with something so greeting wise can be better or need re-train for the Accor Heartist standard. I stand there quite a while as if I was invisible.
Then being requested to fill up covid declaration form and insisted both need to present. As my mate is smoking I went outside with the form.
After both done I notice a few others on the reception counters, that made me wondering are the forms really needed and kept properly when you saw others before yours lying on the reception counter.
Information on what included was misleading as we were being told no $50 gallery voucher when our printed out booking from Tourism Centre clearly stated, he just simply said not included and crossed it with pen.

Well room wise super nice out of expectation in term of size and the day bed inside.
Comfy place and nice stay
We went to reception to settle dinner at night and Bel assisted and confirmed we had the $ 50 gallery voucher and we got a nice piece of indigenous painting

Restaurant staff special mentioned for her amazing service "Marry" (Hope I spell her name right)
Kudos to this lady serving dinner till late and start breakfast serving super early!
And she remember the guests name and room # when we dined in again for breakfast. She is awesome

We took a two day tour of Kakadu and found the whole adventure to be outstanding.

Kakadu is about 20,000 square kilometres and our tour guide said that it is as big as Wales in the UK.

We had an overnight at the Crocodile Hotel and while I always try to deal with the positives I am less familiar with reviewing the negatives.

On the positive side the rooms were average but comfortable, the wifi was good and USB charging points were available. We didn't watch any TV because we were too tired after our day trip.

We used the restaurants for dinner and breakfast, the dinner was acceptable (average) but the hot breakfast was anything but hot. The scrambled eggs and bacon were cold and not very palatable. I think that someone forgot to turn on the food warmers and at $30 it was not very good.

The air conditioning ducts in the dining area were very dirty, indeed they look like they had not been cleaned in years. The vents were black in parts.

While I accept that Covid19 has impacted cashflows of such establishments, obvious areas of cleanliness should not be overlooked.

The rooms were acceptable but the bathrooms had several cracked wall tiles and a shower curtain that was too short and difficult to keep inside the bath area thus resulting in a wet bathroom floor.

Kakadu is a wonderful destination but the available accommodation for tourists is limited. In this regard tour groups rely upon these establishments, such as the Crocodile hotel, to meet accommodation demands.

I am sure that this could be done a little better with a bit of cleaning and warming of the breakfast equipment.

This was initially planned as a 1 night stay but a Covid-19 case in Katherine and the resulting lockdown there and lockout in Darwin caused a major change to my travel plans. The reception staff were very accommodating with extending my stay and it was fortunate it was low season too. My very well equipped room was a very short walk to resort pool which was fully covered by a shade cloth, important on the near 40 degree temperatures during my stay. The restaurant and bar provided an excellent range of meals and cocktails. The staff were excellent too. There was a very well supplied souvenir shop in the main foyer. The hotel is across the road from a service station and the town's main shopping centre.

Our first impression of this resort was the exterior need to be tidied up the walkways were dirty and needed a sweeping and mop.
On checking into the resort we were welcomed with good customer service, however we were advised not to turn the air conditioner off due to condensation. which when we entered the room it was an icebox and the climate control could not be altered. it was around 18 degrees our entire stay. The interior has not been updated in a very long time. As the room was so cold I wanted to take a bath to warm up. However the plug could not be found so I ask reception and they confirmed they would have one but this never happened. however on a good note the service from a waitress in the restaurant was out outstanding. Thankyou Leanne for ALWAYS greeting us with a smile and quality service. If this hotel was under $150 a night I could understand but charging $250 a night was outrageous.

Had been warned by a friend who is currently living in Jabiru not to expect much. At $393 a night we thought that surely they couldn't be correct. The foyer is lovely but that's where it stops.
We arrived at 3pm the advertised check in time and were told they had better get someone to clean our room and we could wait in the air-conditioned foyer. Am guessing the 2 free drinks vouchers were compensation for the delay.
Headed off to our room which was on the outside of the hotel going past water features that looked like they needed work.
Opened the door and were faced with a very run down room. No digital clock which we thought was a given in most hotels now days. The white bath towels appeared clean but had permanent brown stains on them. The air con which worked was rusty as were lots of areas in the bathroom. Unironed pillow cases, a very uncomfortable mattress on the bed and a sign on the door out to the interior courtyard suggesting to keep it closed. It had multiple locks on it as well.
Added to this we had banging on the door and the door handle rattled twice. As the rooms on the exterior of the building are open to anyone walking past it doesn't make you feel safe.
The bedside table drawers were peeling on the inside and rather shabby on the outside, the bottom corner of the bed base was ripped and the filling was coming out. I could go on but will stop here.
We catered for our own breakfasts and lunches and ate dinner in the restaurant. Reservations are necessary and it was a Smorgasbord at $49 per person. The food was fine but be aware it gets packed up taken to the kitchen at 8.30pm so eat quickly if you have a late sitting.
Would not choose to stay here again.

The gardens remain unkempt and the restaurant service is poor (Sept 2017). The front desk staff (backpackers?) are helpful though in the midst of poor management.
