My husband and I stayed at the Riu Palace Costa Rica last week for our honeymoon. While some of the reviews are right about a few missing pool tiles or the smell of the room, I wouldn't let those minor details take away from such a great resort. It was the start of the dry season

The facility is beautiful - if this review was merely on that, it would be a 5-star review .... this is our 4th vacation with Riu, and definitely our last... First, they’re advertising a $940 resort credit for stays b/t 4-6 days & a $1400 resort credit for stays of over 7+ days

Is the alcohol at this resort top shelf? I was reading next door at the Riu they are serving a brand named Disco. I am trying to decide which resort to book. I have been to the Riu Guanacaste several years ago and at the time it was fine, but reading the reviews now, I am thinking we are better off at the palace. Thoughts?
I would recommend the Palace, the food is better, the rooms are better, the drinks are better, the pools are less crowded. You can interact with the staff more, because the staff/client ratio is better.

Is the sea view room worth the extra $$$ or is the garden view room the way to go.
We had a Mountain View and it was beautiful. Room 3001 but it was at the end of the hall do not go with the extra money

"Stay somewhere else"
"Don't pay extra for a sea view room as you will only get a view of the ocean in the far distance."
"Rooms in the 1040 to 4070 range is good. The higher the better."
"bring your table games e.g Rummy Q, Uno, etc... there are lots of spots where you can enjoy them !"
"If you retire early get a room facing away from the pools cuz it is fairly loud until 11 pm due to the shows"
