We'd had a terrible experience at the Monument Motel in Papakura, booked in a month earlier, confirmed a few nights earlier, yet we got there to find they had transferred our booking - without asking us - to this motel. Their reason: New customers had come in who could stay for three nights, we were only staying for two, so they wanted the extra nights revenue. Poor ethics. Luckily this motel had room for us, and despite us being very annoyed at the other motel, they looked after us fine. Nice clean rooms, friendly service, definitely stay here and not at the Monument.

The service at this motel is impeccable! Every single day when we left, they came and did the dishes, made all the beds, did our washing, replaced towels and even folded the toilet paper! For a motel, this definitely exceeded my expectations.
For having a family unit, we were very well equipped but the only thing I would fault is that the bowls in the kitchen are no where near big enough.
The owners are very friendly and helpful and would definitely recommend this motel to anyone wanting to stay in the area.

Just a one night stop on the way to somewhere else. A very comfy night in a spacious unit. Good shower and plenty of room to spread out. Was given a password for free wifi but found it pretty useless. Would stop here again

This has to be the worst motel in all of New Zealand one that demands payment before even one sees what they are going into. It was cold dirty shappy and very old. The sheets on the beds smelt of BO and I am sure they had never been changed. The bedding was old and very thin.Outside was dangerous with moss covered uneven pavers which were littered with cigarette butts . I went in as a single person and it was so cold I had to put the spare towel over me to keep me warm as the heater was broken and didnt work. Avoid at all costs and take no notice of the star rating

The whole two bedroom unit stunk and was just as bad in the morning as at night. I would never never never stay there again. Everything was very old, tired and needed replacing. I didn't like sleeping in the bed, using the towels and refused to take a shower. My children begged me to drive into town and find somewhere else, but at midnight, this was not an option. Disgusting, old, nasty and NOT CHEAP. Don't go here. The place should be pulled down.

Response from papakuramotel, 오너 at Papakura Motor Lodge & Motel
Responded 20 Jul 2012
Hi, This is papakuramotel. I am sorry about the reviewer, but I do not understand the reviewer's comments. I think the reviewer confuse the motel name. Many motels, in papakura area, advertise their property name as 'papakura @@@motel, papakura $$$motel or papakura XXXmotel'. And our 2bedroom unit is disable unit. So, the unit has a big shower room. It has enough space to acess a big wheelchair. And I changed the bed 2 yerars ago. So, the viewer's comments is not consistent with my room configure. My motel's building is little bit old, but inside stuffs are not dirty and untudy. I have pride of my property. User's review is very important to motel. So, I always doing my best to keep the room to be clean and tidy. Thanks.

I stayed here for $149 - for the simple reason that the cheapest hotel in the city was $350 - on a Wednesday night in February!!
Expectations were low but I was pleasantly surprised. All the features you need - Cable TV, Airconditioning, free and fast wifi.
Bed was comfortable.

Arrived after flight from Australia, very easy to find and a short stint from Auckland airport.
We arrived at 8am and we pleasantly suprised to be allowed to check in - steve was fantastic, offered Maps, local knowledge and was a delight to chat to.
Rooms were clean and it does have a slight Japanese feel but was refreshing to experience.

Would be happy to recommend to family and friends again !

Clean, comfortable, compact, home away from home. We stayed here for two nights while attending the Auckland Country Music Awards at the Ray Hawkins centre in Papakura. Close to the shopping centre and the venue!

4 women booked and shared a unit. $318 for 2 nights we thought was reasonable. Two of us arrived earlier than the others and they questioned us about payment before giving the key to the unit. The room (no. 5) stunk of cigarette smoke. We opened all the windows and left the door opened until our friends arrived 4 hours later. I told the Motelier that the room stunk of smoke and could we have some spray to neutralise it. He gave us some Airwick spray and apologised saying the previous clients must of smoked. Because our friends arrived late we stayed the night and went to see the motelier the next morning. The room was still stink of cigarette smoke. We again mentioned the room and asked "well surely we could get a discount or another room" he replied "I sorry". We couldn't even get another room. We also advised that there was a dog in the next unit and he just shrugged his just shoulders. The dishes were up too high and the youngest of us (67 yrs old) used a chair to stand on to get the cups down, shes 5 ft 2in. After the rooms were mean't to have been serviced we had to ask for more toilet paper and to refill the tea & coffee etc. The large stainless steel salt and pepper shakers had rust spots all over them. The unit was cold and grotty. We are regular travellers and always stay in motels around the country. This place is the pits with a manager that couldn't care less about his clients. Will definitely be spreading about our experience here.

Friendly service, nice clean room with plenty of space. Was upgraded to one bedroom unit at no extra cost as they said it was available so could have the bigger room. Dog was allowed in the unit at no extra cost (very well behaved dog who doesnt get on furniture, etc though).
Good value and would be happy to stay there again.
