I have waited about 6 weeks before writing this reiew because I wanted my anger to settle down and also wanted to see if I still had the same anti- feelings. I was booked into this motel to stay 5 weeks for my work-related visit to Hastings. I was so disgusted that I moved to another motel in 4 days. First the positives: The room was clean, good sized with a nice bathroom. The daly house-keeping was good. On my secoind day there, there was a fire-0alarm in the motel which was a false one. It lasted 5 seconds or so and apparently the owner turned it off. A few minutes later, the owner barged into my room using his mnaster-key wiwthgout giving me a chance to come to the door to open it. I was in my underwear about to go for a shower. He just asked me “are you cooking anything?” All this time he was looking suspiciously over my shoulder. On my saying “no”, he went away without bothering to apologise. I noticed that he did not go into any other room. I was too shocked to react further at that time. Later I asked him to apologise and asked him why he came only to my room to check. (I think he did it as I am Indian in origin). He was clearly being racist. He was confrontational and down right rude. I decidec to leave the motel and strarted looking for another one. It was a busy time of the year and it took me 2 days to find one. I actually had to shift 3 times for the rest of my trip as I couldn’t get a booking in one place continuously. If you love your self respect, I suggest you find another place.…
We stayed in a studio room which has been the most spacious with the best amenities on our trip so far. Our room was very clean, modern and well maintained. It even had a spa bath. We would highly recommend Cumberland Court for a well appointed central motel. It's also very close to the hospital.
Stayed here one night with my partner and step daughter, we had a one bedroom apartment with big double bed and a single bed. bed was super comfy and the spa bath was hit with the step daughter. all facility's in the room were good and worked, the room was super clean and the owners were very nice when checking in and checking out. It is a very noisy street so you can hear the cars and we could hear the people next door when trying to go to sleep but it wasn't to bad manged to sleep through the noise, did wake up to a lot of bird noises as our room was next to a big tree. we really enjoyed our one night stay and would come back again :)
Very clean, tidy and loads of room, beds extremely comfortable, can't fault the hosts or inside the units, A +. The only grief is due to the location, on a very busy road, it is extremely noisy day and night. Not much sleep, wouldn't recommend for a quite weekend. No double glazing or noise control gib or cladding. You can hear conversations from inside with all doors and windows closed, let alone the traffic. Hospital and fire station very close. Might sound harsh but I wouldn't have stayed here if others were honest about that.
In an extremely cold and wet Waitangi Day we were welcomed with smiley face n friendly people. Rooms we booked were spacious and beds were comfortable. Close to town and asking for more milk the proprietor was helpful.would stay again
