Amici motel is quite modern finished accommodation very close to CBD yet on gateway towards Napier. Very Comfy stay and not overpriced either. Perfectly suitable for singles/couples or family. Free WIFI and staff/hosts are very friendly ex wellingtonians. Had no issues whatsoever.

We picked Amici for our 2 night stay because it looked more modern than all the other motels in the region. The Motel has a number of newly renovated rooms that are amazing - more 5* boutique hotel than any motel I've stayed in. As we were travelling as a family we chose the older style but still newly renovated 1 bedroom rooms. Having the extra room was a godsend and a the furnishings and room were spotlessly clean. Despite being on a busy road, the motel is extremely quiet and we didn't hear traffic at all.

Janice the owner is extremely helpful and welcoming . They have only recently taken over management of the motel and it is clear they are raising the bar for NZ Motels. I would highly recommend Amici and hope the new owners do well.

We recently stayed for one night. We had an interesting experience but a lovely one. A bit of confusion at the start with the room we were put in but we liked it so much we didn't want to move so stayed in it and payed a bit more. The facilities were good and beds were amazingly comfortable and warm due to electric blankets. Had a bit of issues with the SkyTv but it didn't bother us too much. Prices were also good and would definitely stay again.

Claims to be fully renovated but only some are and the rest are very tired.
Booked room 3 months in advance. On arrival we were told the studio we booked didn't exist. We were offered a very shabby room with shared facilities in the Lodge. Eventually given a very tired family unit but were charged an extra $56 a night. We won't be back !!!!

We found the proprietor friendly over the phone and to deal with. She even offered us a discount over the phone, which was unfortunately partially re-negged upon on arrival (not great form, given that the motel was barely occupied judging from the carpark the next morning).

We took a 2 bedroom family room option. The decor is very tired I'm afraid and in need of upgrading. Facilities were clean however. Shower and bathroom area are more out of a YMCA perhaps than what expects of a motel. Beds were comfy in the rooms and sheets clean.

I agree that the photos provided are deceptive, and we felt let down on opening the door to our room.

Bottom line, although "adequate", it is over priced and expensive for what it is. Circa $200/night can buy you much better in the Hawkes Bay I'm afraid.

We won't be back, and cannot recommend Amici to others.

Very overpriced for the quality , receptionist made out like it was top notch don't be fooled by the photos very old tired dinji feeling no door to bedroom no TV in bedroom Studio TV is not centered to the room so your looking on a major angle couch would be great for 2 five year olds in a bungalow, Shower head stands at chest height and spurts out all round disappointment will not return

We booked a studio room on line in Sep 14. Arrived 20 Feb 15,but were told they had lost our booking due to a change over in computer soft ware. Finally located our booking. Our room had single beds - not a problem. In the older accomodation, which resembled and reminded me of domitory Army barrack accomodation in the late 1970-80 - problem. The room - had not been vaccuumed, and smelt mould and musty, so much so we ask for some air freshener however they were very nice and put an electric deodorizer to mask the smell into our room. The room had no aircon, or fan ventilation, no smoke detectors, no tv or tea/ coffee making facilities, telephone or reliable WIFI. There was a communal lounge with a very sad old stained lounge suite. The communal kitchen has cooking facilites and dirty crockery and cutlery. The building was very noisy as everything echoed down the hallway and the noise from the traffic from the main road. If it was not for the Art Deco festival being on and no accommodation available, I would have happily found somewhere else. Not worth it.

I was drawn to the site by the images and booked a Studio Room at $105 per night. This wasn't to save money so much as because all I needed was a clean average room with basic services and it is only a few dollars cheaper than a fully serviced modern (but characterless) unit at the innercity Portman Motor Lodge. The room was clean but depressing. It was in desperate need of an upgrade, had no iron or ironing board, flaking paint etc.

The refurbished rooms look good and it is a big complex so I understand that the owners need to work through a refurbishment programme but in its current condition this room is worth about $90. At $105 you can definitely do better in terms of quality and location.

A bit of flattery from the opposition! Thanks for pointing out that we are a work in progress and as with a property of this size, there are a lot of options for the guests. Also we always welcome a room inspection for those of you who struggle with web sites.

Heard through friends that this motel had changed hands and gone through a major refurbishment so last week, whilst in Hawkes Bay, we thought we would try it. Wow is a very apt description. The front block has been totally redone and is outstanding. The new owners are welcoming and very friendly. The rooms are tranquil and spacious with all mod cons, the beds and bedding are fantastic. Just a superb place to stay whilst in Hastings.
