We were 6 members of Vintage 64 Wine Club from Perth, Western Australia, when our Tour Operator, Bay Tours & Charters arranged a lunch for us at Millhills Lodge. We had purchased wines from the tour in the days proceeding the lunch and they were dropped off and decantered for us prior to us arriving. Sam and Penny welcomed us into their home ( Hotel ) as though we were family and the food served up to us was absolutely amazing. Sam's sense of humor and banter was thoroughly enjoyed whilst Penny was a great host offering snippets re the food. Sam brought out a bottle from his cellar for a very reasonable cost and the actual meal was very reasonably priced. We didn't stay in the accommodation, however no doubt the experience would be as good as the lunch. If you are going to the Hawkes Bay I can thoroughly recommend this lovely venue, you won't be disappointed.

We were also shown through the new accommodation cottages which looked fantastic.

A marvellous experience. Our hosts, Penny and Sam, provided exceptional hospitality and proved their culinary skills with a range of beautifully prepared home-cooked fare. The property is stunning - modern and state-of-the-art - and set in the lush countryside of Hawke's Bay. This is a perfect place to spend a few relaxed days and would also be ideal for any big event. Strongly recommended.

We stayed at Millhills lodge for 3 nights and absolutely loved every minute of it! We hired out the main lodge and gorgeous cabins which were impeccably clean, well equipped cosy and luxurious.
The lodge itself is grande and sits on the most divine property. It is situated close to town and the nearby vineyards which is ideal as we went out daily for lunches, bike riding tours around the vineyards and would come back to our grande retreat at night. Just perfect!

Penny and Sam are incredible hosts! They are the most welcoming people I have met and go above and beyond making it a very welcoming, enjoyable and absolutely fantastic stay. I would highly recommend Millshills lodge and look forward to booking in again there soon.

The lodge was a fantastic experience. If you want to stay somewhere that the amenities and surroundings are first grade this is one of them, especially if you go with fiends and are happy to to do your own cooking. The main lodge is clean and very comfortable . The place can handle 10 adults . There are three chalets away from the main house which are designed for two adults and are fitted out to a very comfortable standard.

My friends and I were lucky enough to book Millhills Lodge for a foodie weekend in Hawkes Bay. We had a main house plus the 3 studio units books and could not have been happier. The house was absolutely incredible and could not have been more perfect for a bunch of foodies. The kitchen was an absolute dream with every utensil and piece of equipment we could want. The outside entertainment areas were lovely outdoor fireplace plus a cranking bbq.
Loved the impressive collections of food magazines. Found it very hard to leave,

I had the pleasure of doing a film shoot at Penny and Sam's property with a crew over from Australia. We organised at the last minute but Penny and Sam were more than accommodating, ensuring we had complete access to their amazing and beautiful home. They were so welcoming, Sam even driving to go and get us lunch. Their property is gorgeous and as hosts they went above and beyond. I would recommend Millhills Lodge to anyone.

My husband and I stayed at Millshills in mid March. We initially were going to stay for 2 nights, but enjoyed our stay that much that we stayed an extra night. My husband and I were on a driving holiday of the North Island, and Penny and Sam were able to accommodate us last minute. They were very welcoming when we arrived. The property was located about a beautiful 10 minutes drive from Havelock North, in the scenic country side. We stayed in a cabin which was equivalent to a 5 Star hotel room, which looked out to the massive hill, lit up by the moon at night. We had such peaceful night sleeps. Breakfast was amazing, and filled us up for days of sightseeing. Penny and Sam were able to make reservations to George Restaurant which was great food, but Penny cooked dinner (at an additional cost) for us on the other 2 nights. Penny's cooking was amazing and it was great to eat and drink our bottles of wine we purchased on our winery visits.

We enjoyed Penny and Sam's company. With Sam's strong community involvement he was able to track down 2 of my husbands acquaintances, and both Penny and Sam were able to make many suggestions on the sights and places to visit. It was a sad time when we had to leave, but would definitely come back.

MillHills is relatively easy to find and just 10 minutes from town. How wonderful to be able to stay on a working farm.
