We stayed in the oak room. Beautiful feel as you walked in. Luxurious is the best way to describe the place.Karen and mike were a wealth of information. The breakfast was good and we were fortunate to meet some lovely other guests...we could have spent a week there. Havelock north is a must to visit too.

It's the Hawkes Bay area but don’t expect to see any bay from this beautiful property but you can be guaranteed a warm welcome and a fabulous room. Each evening our hosts invite all their guests to a gathering on the porch where they plied us with fine wine and nibbles. What a lovely experience we had. The local town...

We want to thank the German students, Leena and Alex, for making us feel most welcome during our stay. The owners were on holiday and we were the only guests. Leena and Alex welcomed us with wine, cheese and crackers and stayed to visit with us on the back patio. The next morning they fixed us a lovely breakfast. We...

This was a very pleasant country B&B. About the only drawback was that its location was a ways out of town so you had to drive out to do anything. We had a pleasant room with a nice covered patio surrounded by beautiful gardens. After we had unloaded the car, we were invited out to the back covered patio for...

We have traveled all over the world and prefer bed and breakfast accommodations for the folks we meet- this is by far the best one we have ever encountered! Our hosts were so friendly, the fresh eggs and plums so delicious, the six o'clock wine and cheese so fabulous that we were reluctant to leave. Our room was spacious and...

We stayed in Birch Room in this Edwardian villa. Karen welcomed us and we joined other guests for cheese and wine on the terrace to rear of the property which is a nightly occurrence there if wanted. We enjoyed chatting and felt it was a good oortunity to meet fellow guests and hear a little about New Zealand and its...

Stayed two nights while exploring wineries of Hawkes Bay. Very welcoming new owners, Karen and Danny. Lovely gardens, fully equipped room. Very tasty spread to introduce the guests to each other at 6 o'clock. Top quality breakfast with local produce including fruit. We felt that nothing was too much trouble. Recommended stopping place for this area.

My husband and I were enjoying our 7 week exploration of the North and South Islands when we arrived at Hawthorne House toward the end of our trip. Not only were the accommodations first class, our hosts made us feel extremely welcome. Their knowledge of the area and gourmet breakfasts enhanced our experience. Restaurants in the area were closed for...

A lovely place, beautiful rooms and our hosts Karen and Denny were very welcoming, they treated you as friends. Especially the 6 o'clock wine and cheese moment was such a nice experience ! We really enjoyed our stay, just one remark about some thing which could be improved to my meaning, a bit more choice at breakfast.
