Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

I just spent two weeks in room 5 at Omahu Lodge and was very happy!

I simply don’t understand a couple of the negative reviews below because my experience was completely different and, believe me, as frequent business traveller I’m super picky!

My room was spotlessly clean and the daily housekeeping was fantastic. The bed and bed linen were sublime and I slept really well. The A/C works really well and I loved the little but perfectly equipped kitchenette.

I loved the table and chairs on the terrace for an evening drink and chill and the dinner table and desk in the room were ideal for eating or working. It was also good to be able to flop into the comfy armchair and watch a bit of TV.

There are tons of TV channels (more than many large hotels) and the WiFi is PERFECT for a business traveler who’s WiFi dependant.

In terms of facilities nearby, there’s a Four Square mini market 7 minutes pleasant, flat walk behind the motel. It’s open until 19:00. Turning left out of the front of the motel and walking down Omahu Road will take you to a couple of fast food outlets in 2 minutes. Walk a further 3-4 minutes and you’ll find a coffee shop / cafe, a huge wine and liquor store and the fantastic Jark’s Restaurant and bar - upscale but mega friendly.

Shay and Bev are brilliant and very friendly and helpful. Thank you so much for doing my laundry Shay!

I highly recommend this motel and look forward to my second stay in May.

A regular spot for me to stay the rooms are kept tidy and have full facilities if you want them. The hosts are really friendly. Cleaning staff open all the windows in your room when they service them, this is ok until you’re in one of the rooms by the smoking area, my room smelt of stale smoke when I was there from people smoking outside and the smell drifting in.

We were welcomed like family. Spotless unit well presented, the accessible unit facilities were first class. Very comfortable bed and the daily service of the unit was great the staff even folded our clothes that had been left on the bed. Will definitely be booking here next time we go to Hawkes Bay.

The best thing about this motel is the black out curtains. I had the best sleep ever and woke up late which was just what I needed! The shower however was hard work. Almost needed a step ladder to climb into the bath to have a shower. Not ideal for older people or people with injuries - and I had neither! Great little kitchenette, desk, table and large lounge. Even though it’s on the main road, it’s very quiet at night. Opposite the hospital so it’s very handy location.

I have never stayed here before and after reading some of the reviews I was somewhat worried but i needn't have been. This place was fantastic. The owners/Managers are friendly and helpful and quick to respond.

The rooms are clean and tidy and warm (Hastings had a cold spell while i was there)

Purely by luck I was in the accessible unit which was handy since I am still using crutches

I couldn't have asked for better!

I spent three nights here while working on a family project. Mike and Dayle are very welcoming, the room was spotlessly clean, the bed and seating very comfortable, it was quiet despite being at the roadside end of the property, and there were all the right amenities in the unit. The heatpump was effective. If you need to be near the Hastings Memorial Hospital, this place is right next door. I would totally come back here.

This motel exceeded my expectations - it was lovely, modern and clean at a reasonable price. Good size room with a spa bath. The staff were friendly and accomodating. Excellent servicing of the room. Good location, pretty quiet even though it’s near the hospital.

We had a lovely 2 night stay at this motel. We had a unit down the back which was spacious, clean and had everything we needed. We had air con and a second TV in the bedroom which are always a plus for us. Beds were comfortable, and it was quiet at night. Parking was good. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back to stay again.
