Stayed at Travellers Lodge for about 4 months or so, and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Joe and Natalie were both friendly and helpful, and the diverse community that stayed at the Lodge has made my trip an amazingly memorable one. It's also great that the owners are firm with house rules, which made the place a pretty safe and secure one. Certain amenities could stand to see some improvements, e.g. kitchen and fridge space, but it didn't take away from the great hostel experience.
The Travellers Lodge is Ideally located in the centre of Hastings, In fact its a stone's throw from Pak and Save, Maccas and a number of other essential centres. The rooms are usually of four bunks, with storage area for each occupant, and also a locked storage lockers for valuables. The room I was in opened out into the courtyard and this is clean, tidy and spartan however there is a lounging area in the garden and I am sure that there are other areas to relax in. Off street parking, and Paid wi fi are available, as also a Kitchen and other usual backpacker facilities. I was lucky enough to have a room by myself, however I could imagine during the height of the season that there is little room for people to move... so bookings would be advised. Staff are pleasant and helpful and if there is no one on duty at the office there is a 24 hour contact number and if its urgent then they will attend Showers, toilets and bathrooms are clean and tidy and there is a floor mat in the shower.... Nice touch…
