What a wonderful experience we have enjoyed for the past two nights. The accommodation is superb and the photos don’t do it justice. The view is amazing and totally captivating night and day! The privacy afforded by the location is fabulous and it is a totally romantic spot while also being only a few minutes drive into Russell township. Many thanks Mana for a delightful stay at your extraordinary property ✨🌟💫

Great location; with lovely views and pretty tropical gardens. Well worth the ferry trip to be close to Russell as opposed to Paihia. Ideal for couples with beautiful varied breakfasts cooked by Jenny and delivered by host Peter who is very knowledgeable about the area. Ideally located for lunch at Omata estate and lunch/dinner at Sage at Paroa winery. Both were amazing however forget dinner at the Duke of Marlborough, food is appalling. Just have a drink outside and watch the sun go down. Will certainly visit again and our thanks to Peter for the travel advice following the devastating cyclone and the resulting road closures.

We really like the calm of the place. It’s perfect for spending three nights and visiting the bay. The cottages have small kitchens so they are very practical for not going out in the evening and enjoying the beautiful surrounding nature.
Peter & Jenny are adorable and will have a lot to teach you if you have the chance to share a moment with them.

A fantastic location with lovely views to the oyster beds and hills beyond. The cottage was spotlessly clean and spacious with lovely decor. Jenny and Peter were truly wonderful hosts and the highlight of our stay was the lively conversations over a delicious breakfast, cooked by Jenny and served on the verandah of their house. We also indulged in a sharing platter one evening prepared by Jenny and brought to our cottage by Peter. It was the perfect end to a wonderful day in the Bay of Islands. We had such a fantastic time and we hope to be able to return one day.

If you’re looking for peace, tranquillity, being right in the heart of nature, this is the place. Absolutely gorgeous warm wooden cottages, nestled in native bush and subtropical gardens, with chooks and wekas strolling around. Easterly facing, with beautiful views out over the bay and sun-drenched breakfasts out on the deck with the water shimmering beyond the bush. Peter and Jenny are wonderfully attentive hosts, who make this feel like home away from home and who are engaging and delightful to chat with. Lovely touches such as flowers creatively arranged, fine linen table napkins, tasteful art on the walls, home-cooked biscuits, freshly ground coffee ... Breakfasts are a feast and you won’t need lunch! An emphasis on fresh, organic, eco and sustainability. We have stayed in many B&Bs and this is the best.

Peter & Jenny have created a fantastic hideaway spot for people who want peace and quiet - except for the sounds of some native birds and the odd chicken or two! The cottages are not luxurious - but are very comfortable and have everything you need. They are surrounded by lush gardens and have a magnificently calming effect. I was planning to have dinner out in Russell on the first night but decided instead to buy takeaway fish and chips and simply sit on the deck overlooking the bay. Russell is about 7 minutes drive. Breakfasts are beautiful and enough to last the entire day.

We selected Bay of Islands Cottages after reading the reviews. We would agree with all the comments made, clean, comfortable, good hosts, fantastic breakfasts,

Just a couple of observations to add.

The bush location does mean what is says, the mosquitoes are voracious at dusk, so no sitting on the veranda in the evening.
The view from the studio apartment attached to the house is largely blocked by a big tree.
The bay is tidal and the area is mudflats with an oyster farm highly visible at low tide.
Cooking facilites consist of two rings and minimal equipment.

That said, it is a great short stay B&B and we would use it again. Jenny and Peter are great hosts and we often spent most of the morning over breakfast. Jenny was very helpful in suggesting days out and Peter provided internet access when we needed it.

This place is lovely. The premises are beautiful with djungle-like greenery and a few friendly hens strolling around.
We got the Sea Breeze Cottage which is situated next to the hosts' house. The cottage looks just like in the pictures, it is a studio so it's not too big but very cosy, and the views are gorgeous. Everything is spick and span. You have your privacy day and night even if it is close to the other houses, the balconies are not door to door (but not entirely secluded either). Hosts Jenny, Peter and their son Stefan are extremely welcoming and friendly. There were delicious home made cookies in the cottage when we arived! There is equipment for fishing and kayaking, and they have a barbecue you can loan. The beach is just a 20 meter stroll from the cottage. We paddled to Russell, took maybe 30 min, no worries! (With car it's a 10 min drive there, 6 km.)
The kitchenette was small but has everything you need. There is no washing machine in the cottage but you may wash at the hosts' house.
