We had lunch at Fiddlers Green today. It was beautiful. I had the lamb rack and my partner had the fish (blue nose) The service was fantastic. We sat upstairs and had a great view of the vineyard. We ordered a bottle of their own Pinot Noir which was young but very nice. Worth the drive if youre coming out from Christchurch. We will definitely return.

We stayed a few day in this lovely cottage, which offered us lots of space, spectacular birdsong and luscious gardens. The bedrooms were vast and clean. The kitchen stuff was more than adequate, and the owner and owneress were very friendly. Would have loved to stay there longer!

Fiddler's Green is a wonderful piece of paradise in the countryside of Russell. The house is fully furnished and has everything you could possibly need for you and your family/friends. There are multiple large bedrooms and can accommodate a decent size group. It has a very homey feeling to it and it is only a 10-15 minute drive from town/ the warf. It is surrounded by tons of fruit trees and a beautiful lush garden. Their chickens that provide daily fresh eggs roam the property during the day and are then back in their coop for the night. The couple that runs the place is so lovely and are so welcoming. They breakfast they cook for you is absolutely stellar and they go above and beyond to make you feel right at home. I would definitely visit Fiddler's Green again! Thank you Klaus and Adriana for such an amazing time.

My friends and I stayed for 2 nights at Fiddler's Green in the "Casa del Mar" accommodation before and after our sailing trip on the hosts beautiful brigantine ATAIR and we loved the place! The privacy you can enjoy there, is just wonderful, the rooms are lovely and the breakfast is of outstanding quality. We slept extremely well with a full moon shining through the windows and the odd call of more pork owls from the old trees around the house. On our arrival day the hosts prepared a BBQ for us on the spacious veranda of the main guest house which was probably the best we ever had! "Fiddler's Green" is a place in unspoilt nature, where you can see Wekas, Wood Pigeons and other native birds as well as wild goats, and if you want to go fishing, well the next beach is in walking distance!

The place was NOT easy to find, but would have been easier had the owners communicated some directions after booking. Not happy about there being no Wi-Fi, but in fairness, one of the owners did offer to let me use her Wi-Fi connection in the main house. The owners were attentive to preparing breakfast which was of a good standard. The rooms inside the house were lockable from the inside, but when leaving the property to go out and about, the room was NOT lockable. This place was not for us !

Response from Atairsailing, Owner at Fiddler's Green
Responded 6 Jan 2016
Dear DadNDave: we don't agree with your comments: 1. Our place is extremely easy to find, especially because we ALWAYS give directions how to find us. This is standard procedure with EVERY booking, and so it was with yours, don't you remember? There is only one turnoff and only one road to follow, and our entrance gate cannot be missed with its large sign: "Fiddler's Green." 2. You used our Wi-Fi connection twice and as long as you wanted. So, what's your problem? 3. You had the whole house to yourself for the price of one room. So why would you then have needed to lock your room, if you could lock the house? Or do you lock all the rooms in your own house before you go out and lock the main door? Please be reasonable! Sometimes you are wondering what kind of people these modern times and the Internet rear. Perhaps e.g. those, who just like the cheap sensation to complain from a save, unassailable position, although there is nothing to complain, as the right word at the right time would have sorted out even the slightest doubt.

After a road trip around New Zeland we enrolled in Atair to sail along Bay of Island one of the most beautiful places we have ever been. It was our honeymoon and Klaus and Adriana made as feel at home. The bergantina and the lodge are just amazing, Klaus is not only a very experienced sailor, but a top chef whit the help of Adriana.

We stayed in the 2-person chalet which is located deep in the country about 5 miles from Russell. We had trouble finding the place as it is poor signed with a narrow entrance. The building is lovely but it would be hard to cook in the sparsely equipped kitchen. Our hosts managed to book a dinner place for us even though it was Valentine's Day and a Saturday, and they brought us a lovely breakfast in the morning. Bring a torch as it is hard to get from the parking area up the steps in the pitch dark. The stars were wonderful though!

My old school fellow Ingolf and I found this paramount place on our trip to NZ. We were just looking for an overnight stay during our individually arranged NZ exploring tour, and then we stayed there for more than a week with Captain Klaus and his charming wife Adriana who seemed to be able to anticipate every wish of ours during our unforgettable stay with them. Especially the fantastic sailing experience aboard of Captain Klaus' 22 m brigantine "ATAIR" which is a more than well kept sailing ship of its own kind, made us understand the extraordinariness of the waters surrounding this very special part of NZ's Northland coast. All in all, our experience with Klaus and Adriana at their overwhelming Fiddler's Green estate will remain in our memories forever and we promise to come back again.

Our stay at the Fiddler's Green was the icing on the cake for a wonderful 10th anniversary, The B&B itself was beautifully decorated and cared for by its owner. Upon arrival, we were given a tour of the house and the surroundings, our King size bed was very roomy, the silk comforter and sheets were brand new condition, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast each morning was very well prepared and conversation with Klaus and Adriana and the other guest again set the like home feel. This is a beautiful place with an awesome ocean view, is placed in a perfect location for sightseeing or visiting. I cannot wait for our next visit!
