We stayed over the weekend for my wife's birthday. Everyone in town who heard where we were staying said how lucky we were to be staying there and they were not wrong. Greg and Peter are wonderful hosts - very personable but respectful of your privacy. The room had a stunning view out over the bay and the period furniture gives the place a wonderful ambience. Peter's breakfasts are (rightfully) a famous feature of the stay. A luxuty stay at a mid range price. Greg gave us great ideas for local walks and sights. We will be back.

Property's Favourite Review
We were expecting a very special stay Arcadia lodge based on the reviews we had read from recent guests. However our expectations were surpassed by a combination of extraordinary views, attentive personalised service and breakfast to die for. Our hosts, Greg and Peter made us feel extremely welcome and very comfortable from time of arrival to our departure. They also took the time to introduce us to the many beautiful attractions and experiences in Russell which is one of the most exquisite and special places we have ever enjoyed. If you have not been to Russell and the Bay of Islands we suggest that you do so as soon as possible and stay at Arcadia Lodge! DJ & Sandi

Kia Ora DJ & Sandi . Thanks for the great review. Its great that we surpassed your expectation and you had a great time with us. We think Russell is a very special place and quite unique to many other parts of the country. We think that Northland is a hidden jem right at our door and we have wonderful places such as Omapere, Maunganui and the Cape Reinga just a days trip away. Hopefully you got home safe & sound, Thanks and all the best Peter & Greg

Every little detail that Greg & Peter have put together for their B&B is absolutely exceptional and its one of the few places that I would genuinely go back to, because we left feeling not only refreshed, but that we were leaving new friends. We were so sad to say 'bye!. The B&B is immaculate, with the history lovingly preserved and breakfast views over the bay just beautiful. Peter is a master in the kitchen and every day he surprised us with such unique and delicious food along with home made cereals and local jams. Peter & Greg also helped organise a boat trip around the islands for us and have all the insider tips on where to go and what to eat. They also have an excellent balcony for drinking a glass or three of wine in the sunshine on! It's such a special place and I'd recommend it to anyone without hesitation. Thank you Peter & Greg!

Thanks so very much for sharing your Arcadia experience.. we strive not to be average but try to do this in a low fuss way so our guests leave us refreshed & relaxed. We think one unique feature is not living in the house our guests feel at ease.. remember we offer Arcadia Cottage as fully self contained stays over winter. Thanks again P&G

We recently spent a thoroughly enjoyable 3 nights at Arcadia Lodge. Our stay began with an introduction to the lodge and its history, as well as comprehensive ideas for activities and dining in the local area. Not all accommodations take the time to make you so welcomed – we appreciated such extra care, and the little touches that a stay at Arcadia includes. We were very pleased with the lodge’s location –it’s only a short walk to Russell, but miles from its waterfront busyness and revelry. Peter’s breakfasts were varied and gave us an excellent start to our days in this lovely part of NZ. Our Te Punga room had views across the bay from a comfortable sitting area inside, or out on the deck. Arcadia Lodge is a heritage house, its quirks and creaks are all part of its charm. We hope to be back!

Thanks for sharing your comprehensive and thoughtful review ,we are sorry this response is a little late. We love how we are just a stroll around the corner from the village and sit proudly overlooking Matauwhi Bay We are all about giving guests the best possible time whatever this is. Arcadia is now over 120 years old with nearly 100 years of hosting under Arcadia Lodge, and we celebrate its character charm & style. All the best for the rest of 2021, regards P & G
