As you can see - the vista at this place is amazing - a view up Veronica Channel and over towards Paihia from reasonably high up on Okiata point - you can look out from the comfort of an easy chair - or while having dinner, surrounded by the beautifully manicured lawn and

Response from The C, Manager at The Clendon

Thank you for your comments Robert. The Clendon was originally set up as a 4 room boutique hotel in the 1989, and the 2nd lodge and pool added in the early 2000's.We appreciate that the cooking was an issue for you & we did try our best to help alleviate the situation. Unfortunately we do not advertise any kitchen facilities (nor Sky TV) at all with our booking partners such as Booking.com & Expedia so we are very upfront about what facilities we offer right at the booking stage, The commercial kitchen in the main lodge is the domain of the chef - its her obligation to abide by NZ Work, Health and Safety regulations. The room you had booked was our honeymoon/deluxe suite and yes that is more expensive than most, however it also included continental & cooked breakfast daily for the 3 of you, a private spa and deck. A Bayview suite would have been a cheaper option for you at $2100 for 3 people over 8 nights. You will find the pricing at The Clendon on par with all similar properties in Russell.I will definitely pass your comments on to the owners about upgrading Bayview lodges kitchen, as i do not believe they have chosen to forego any items, they simply have not had requests for this up until now. I do believe they will heed your comments regarding this. We all enjoyed meeting Poppy and San, and we sincerely hope they enjoyed their time here.

The 8th hotel of our trip. The easiest way to get to Russell is via the short ferry from Opua. They run every 15 minutes, no booking required and it costs NZ$13 each way. It’s a short crossing. The Clendon is a short drive from the ferry towards Russell. It’s on the right. Our

Based on my experience, don’t risk booking at The Clendon as they may not honour the booking. They might also not repay your deposit. In January, I booked a 3 night stay for mid-February on The Clendon website. We were looking for a special place to completely relax after a

Total ripoff, not value for money at all. First thing you notice is the musty, stale smell of the carpets. The room was pleasant enough with a nice view but the bathroom was outdated, old and tired with missing handle and doorknob. The kitchenette was minimalist with nothing
