A wonderful place to stay with privacy, luxury, special atmosphere - design and art - and magnificient view combined with absolutely excellent service. We spent two nights at Donkey Bay Inn after a long travel and felt welcome and relaxed form the first minute on. There are only few rooms available, all with space and a wonderful view to the sea- all with balcony or a terrace - and the private bay with a beach, which can be accessed easily from the hotel. The interior is one of a kind with a lot of love in detail and rare collector items, a joy for anybody interested in interior design. We arrived at the Donkey Bay Inn from Auckland on a rainy Saturday afternoon, not sure what to expect. And we were overwhelmingly surprised by the experience we were about to embark upon. Upon arrival, we went through a yellow tunnel in a big pink wall, to be welcomed into a gorgeously appointed lobby and kitchen / dining / lounge area of epic proportions. Amelia, our host, gave us the grand tour of the property in typical kiwi style - laid back and relaxed but also helpful and personable. She gave us the details of the properties history and how it came to be. With only 3 bespoke rooms (soon to be 4) there is a opulent uniqueness to this property.
