From the moment you step into the magical tunnel of The Donkey Bay Inn you are transported to somewhere special... the views and decor are breath taking. It’s impossible to take it all in at once, and all throughout our stay I noticed more and more wondrous things, like being in Aladdins cave. Highlights were the sumptuous breakfasts overlooking that remarkable view... walking through the original gates of the property, past the Amazing sculptures glistening in the sun to see the beautiful Donkeys, the biggest ones I’ve seen... Sipping the best Gin ever in the evenings, made on site and sold no where else, rides to the local Restaurants in the Daimler with everyone looking at you, I could go on and on... Oh and don’t forget the outside bath!!! Amelia is a gem! Bubbling with…
Donkey Bay Inn is without doubt the epitomy of high end accomodation in NZ. Not for the closed minded though as this isnt a sterile off the peg hotel. The setting, eco design, architecture and decor would be enough on their own but add the can do attitude from the entire on site team led by Amelia and the larger than life owner Antonio Pasquale and I guarantee a truly unforgettable experience. If you are the type who appreciates fresh eggs for breakfast, handcrafted Gin or being chauffeur driven to local reastaurants in the Inns Daimler, this is for you. Sophisticated, Quirky and Faultless from start to finish
We took all 4 rooms at Donkey Bay for two days for our family and they unusually allowed us to have our reception at the Inn. The accommodation is stunning. It is so different to anything one would normally experience that one can only be blown away by it all. With amazing views, a beautiful beach, some amazing art in the Inn and in the grounds and staff to make you so 'at home' at the Inn, no one could be disappointed with their stay. They absolutely rocked our reception too.. Aircon is absolutely unnecessary, the location and design of the Inn make it superfluous. Paul Baines and Penny Hamilton

Thankfully we had the amazing Anita, Nat, Tosca, Antonio & Amelia to help us feel at home & make sure we were feeling okay. All the staff were absolutely lovely & went out of their way, bringing us food orders from town & even powerade! The Skyfall room was absolutely stunning & was probably the best place to be stuck in bed as we could fall asleep to the sound of the…
