Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

After reading some of the reviews after booking we were a little nervous. We shouldn’t have been, for an overnight stay it had everything we needed and was a restful nights sleep. Receptionists we’re friendly and gave good advice re transportation options

It is interesting to see other comments regarding supplying the basics. My room was not supplied with any milk, when asking at reception, the cupboard was closed and I could buy some from the supermarket down the road. On arrival there were leaves on the floor of my room and what appears to be a large coffee stain in the wall that nobody thought to clean? Usually I stay at the Hotel Nelson and will make sure all future trips are booked there.

Not disappointed, one bedroom apt with full kitchen plus washing machine and dryer, clean and in best location, would stay again, good value for money. Bonus 2nd tv in bedroom. Shortcomings - short on bedroom drawers and no in room safe, plus we were told we should have prebooked parking as spaces are limited but nothing was mentioned on the booking.com website, parking is free if available. Overall good value for money

After reading other reviews I was concerned. But this property is fine. Great location in the heart of Nelson. Clean and modern. It was a bit noisy Saturday night but to be expected as you’re in the city near a pub. The glass door on the bedroom shut out most of the noise. Great facilities like aircon, hobs, oven, microwave, dishwasher, full fridge/freezer, washer and dryer. Unfortunately we did run out of dishwasher powder and toilet paper. Bed is very firm. Didn’t mind paying $15 a day for parking as street and public parking is $2 an hour during the day. Nice to not have to worry if we left the car at the hotel and walked around town. Would happily stay again.

I locked myself out of my room on accident one night at 7.30 and Adrian (franchisee) insisted that the only way to get back in was if I paid an additional fifty dollars. After waiting for an hour an employee arrived and insisted on taking the money before proceeding which was humiliating as I felt that they thought I couldn't afford $50. The next day I received an amended invoice which included a $50 card replacement fee, which was inaccurate as my card was never replaced, instead I was let back into my room. I decided to query Adrian after reviewing the Quest website which said that there would be a manager on site for emergencies, and he declined this was true after showing him the webpage. He then changed tack and referred me to the Ts&Cs I signed at check-in. When I asked to see these to validate his claim, he decline to print one (I was never emailed a copy to check myself.) At this point, Adrian was very condescending, insulting my age and experience while raising his voice. At the end of the day $50 is not a big deal, but the aggressive and condescending conduct was. I doubt I will ever stay at a quest hotel again.

Don't get me wrong this hotel is great for a quick stop over but there is a ton of cons to this place. 1. Not even half a roll of toilet paper left on the holder 2. No new roll of toilet paper to replace 3. NO HAND SOAP!!! Had to use body wash 4. Wine glass was cracked and 2 still had food stuck to them 5. Glasses were covered in dust. 6. Wanted a bank card for ID.. took my card details just to pay $15 for the carpark then put it through eftpos. 7. If you're not on top floor be prepared for a rough night of hearing everyone above you. Overall bad experience wouldn't recommend the $156 stay and would rather pay that down the road on trafalgar street in the flasher motels. It is central to the bars and restaurants which is handy. I wouldn't stay here again.

We are satisfied returning guests. For a quick stay the studios are fine, but the one bedroom units are best for a longer stay- they come with a well equipped kitchen. The clean rooms are modestly but tastefully furnished; the top floor is good for the view, with a ranch-slider providing plenty of fresh air. Being on the edge of the city block, it’s close to cafes etc. The only downside is if you aren’t use to a bit of street pub noise in the night. Easy walk to the Maitai River, Queens Gardens and a swimming pool.

Completely humiliated by staff when they denied us toilet paper and told to wait until the next day for more. This is a basic essential and we paid around $1000 to stay here. These are poorly managed apartments, and poorly serviced. We were told the manager would be in contact - nothing. Have directly emailed the manager - no reply. They are only after money and not concerned with customer service. This ethos appears to be passed down through their management. The apartment was not cleaned between guests, entered the apartment to black hairs all over the carpet and in the toilet bowl. Went out for the day, the cleaning staff came in just as we were heading out, not wearing masks. When we got back at 10pm they hadn’t replaced any toilet paper or toiletries/shower products. I rang reception to get some toilet paper for the night and he said no we can’t get any more and have to wait until the morning. You can imagine how embarrassing this was. Partner went out at 10.30pm to a service station to try locate some. How is this ok for a well known franchise/brand, let alone any hotel? Loved Nelson itself, would recommend going - just avoid staying at the Quest.

We have been caught up in the floods and road closures in Westport. There is no way of actually arriving into Nelson. We have had to wait to see if the only way into Nelson from the west coast is possible- which it isn't. We have rung Quest Nelson to tell them we can not make our reservation. W e were told that they would keep our money if we canceled- the 48 hour cancelation had lapsed. Talk about taking advantage of a natural disaster. We are still waiting for Adrian to call us back to resolve this. Shame on you Quest Nelson.

I have just spent two weeks at the Quest apartments and had a fantastic stay. The apartments are located in a very central spot which means you can walk to numerous restaurants and the various shops. There is also a supermarket a short walk away. I stayed in a one bedroom apartment which was a good size, it has a small oven, stove top, washing machine dryer and a heat pump. The apartment had large windows, ranch slider which could be opened for some fresh air. The reception staff were very helpful and the rooms very clean. Free wifi was a bonus. I will definitely be staying here again.
