Detailed Reviews

The Beaches Motel on Tahunanui Drive in Nelson, was one of the most friendliest places we have ever stayed at, Jacqueline and Deon were so polite and couldn't have made our stay any better, the room itself was large and immaculately clean, the spa/bathroom was incredible, the balcony in the evening allowed us to watch some amazing sunsets. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone staying in Nelson N.Z. 10 out of 10, thanks for the memory

I never leave reviews but need to for Beaches Suites, as it is so wonderful. I picked it for its location for our family holiday in Nelson, but was delighted with the quality of our apartment. The blankets on the beds are pure wool; there is a filtered water tap in the kitchen for drinking water; the windows are double-glazed; the toiletries and bathroom are high quality with great water pressure and the kitchen is thoughtfully appointed - there's a proper-sized plunger, organic coffee, biscuits and proper tea! Our children loved the big bath and the novelty of Sky TV, with all the channels. A great place to return to after a big day out and really kind, lovely hosts too.

Family of 4 stayed for 5 days. Apartment was absolutely spotless. Jackie, the manger, went above and beyond to help us enjoy our stay… contacting tour providers to book trips in Golden Bay and she even did 2 loads of washing for us, dried it and left it folded in our room. An absolute star…thank you. Motel is conveniently located 5 minutes walk from Tahuna beach. Lots of places to eat nearby… bakery and 2 fantastic pubs serving food. Would highly recommend this place to anyone staying im the area

We were a group of 9 and stayed at Beaches for 5 nights over Christmas. We would definitely recommend this motel - it ticked all the boxes! We had 5 rooms and they were all top notch in terms of decor, facilities, cleanliness and comfort. The super friendly hosts went out of their way to make sure we were well set up for spending Christmas day at the motel. We were a short walk to restaurants, takeaways and the lovely Tahunanui Beach. We ranged in age from 18 to 85 and everybody was thrilled with our stay! We will definitely stay at the Beaches again!

I stayed here for a work trip (bonus that I'm a working parent and get some rest and relaxation whilst missing the kids, haha). I really enjoyed staying here as I was given one of the recently updated suites. I really like that the toiletries are NZ made and use recycled packaging. The tea and coffee sachets were good quality and I've had before so I know they tasted good. There's Netflix, Disney Plus and Prime Video which was great. Really central to Tahunanui so all the eateries is walking distance. Bathroom large and clean, bed was huge and comfy. I'd definitely stay here again. Great hospitality from the manager also.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The front office manager was a delight and went above and beyond. We got ourselves in a jam to catch our outbound flight, and she got everything sorted out. She also worked with us on arrival to find room locations that worked for us. The rooms were clean, and the manager even made sure we had bottles of cold milk in case we wanted to make coffee or tea. We would definitely stay here again.

After staying in 6 other accomodation types over the previous 10 days, this last was exceptional, so close to being number 1 . This was a 1 bedroom unit one back from the busy main road - but double glazing puts paid to that. Very spacious, wonderful bathroom with a spa bath and bath salts ! Good little kitchenette with a dishwasher! Very comfortable bed, and a big screen TV with all the necessary streaming apps. Close to the beach, the Smugglers pub across the road - yum. And a few minutes drive into town. Top place.

Two bedroom spa apartment ($594 for two nights)
Good points: I had made a mistake on Booking.com, management were able to sort it. Really comfortable, well appointed rooms, great beds. Good shower. Self help laundry ($6)
Not so good points:
Full dishwasher of previous guests.
Rubbish in bathroom tidy.
Zero views.
Well reviewed fish and chip shop closed, poorly reviewed KFC open.
I liked Beaches Nelson, would I stay here again? Probably No.
I would like to stay at a hotel/motel a little better situated, a tad more private and one with a better handle on the quality of the servicing of the unit.

Had 2 nights here recently when down for a wedding, off street parking, extremely clean rooms, everything you need for a stay was provided- don't think I've seen a bathroom with so many extras like bath salts, hand and body lotion etc. While we didn't cook great cooking facilities too, balcony with views which got lots of sun.
Really friendly staff and so close to beach, town etc.
Definitely worth 5 *
