Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Palaazo was immaculately clean, had a comfortable bed, a great shower and enough cooking facilities to make a decent breakfast. We also had great assistance from Robyn ensuring we got where we needed to be. Can't ask much more from a downtown motel.

This is a fabulous motor lodge. This is my third time staying here and each time has been outstanding and I will be booking in again. The owners and staff are 'top notch' - welcoming and helpful. The suite we (two of us) had was immaculate and had everything we could possibly need. I loved the way the glassware and crockery was matching and high quality and enough for 4 people (not the mismatched odd glasses you get in some places). The beds in the two rooms were very comfortable with lovely bedlinen, and plenty of wardrobe space for a long weekend stay. The bathroom was wonderful with a great shower and a basin for each of us! We had our own enclosed patio with table and chairs, and lounger, as well as an easily put up sun umbrella (and standard rosemary bushes!!). It was luxurious and what more could you want! Yes, there was wifi, a Nespresso coffee maker, a good selection of teas, and milk in little glass bottles to remind us of a bygone era when milk in towns in Aotearoa was delivered in glass bottles. A big thank you to the owners and may The Palazzo continue to thrive into the future, so I can come back again and again!

Very comfortable, clean and friendly place to stay. Owners have set up the rooms to make living there effortless—large bathrooms, well stocked kitchens, lots of counter space, etc. The property is immaculately maintained. Great location close to downtown. Owners Max and Robyn are extremely helpful and very entertaining. Can’t go wrong here!

The Palazzo Motor Lodge is a fantastic place to stay. A little bit of luxury when away from home. Every time I stay it is spotless. It has those lovely little touches like Netflix, Nespresso machine. The bed is really comfortable with choices of pillows. I always have a lovely welcome. The location is ideal. So close to loads of food options and shopping. I wouldn't stay any where else when travelling for work

Very comfortable with everything you will need. Surprisingly quiet even though it's on a busy road. Extremely clean and tidy. Plenty of bedding to keep you warm. The hosts are very responsive and efficient. Great off streek parking, and we were able to store our bike in their garage.

We appreciated the warm welcome, provision of maps and suggestions on things to do and where to eat. This is not your average motel - the room was lovely, spacious, comfortable and well-equipped. Although it is on a busy street, traffic noise was not a problem due to double glazing. The motel is in a great location - just a short walk to cafes and restaurants. Definitely the place to stay in Nelson.

This was the best Motor Lodge we stayed in during our 4-week holiday in New Zealand. Great facilities in the room. Lovely owners who provided lots of information about where to eat and how to get to our planned activities etc.. Only a short walk to numerous restaurants, bars and shops. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

The best accommodation we have stayed in so far in NZ. It’s the attention to detail and consideration which sets this place above others e.g. a magnifying mirror in the bathroom, a specially labelled face washer - Make up, and the glass (recyclable) bottle of milk. Can’t recommend more highly. We will be back
