I recently stayed four nights at the Palazzo Motor Lodge. I can honestly say it is by far the best motel I have ever had the opportunity to stay in. The bedroom and ensuite were spotlessly clean, the bed was unbelieveably comfortable and was dressed with high quality cotton bed linen, excellent accoustics prevented any noise from adjoining motels and Robyn (owner) was very friendly and helpful with local knowledge. No wonder this motel has received so many glowing accolades and awards.

One of the best motels I've ever been to: comfortable bed, well-appointed facilities. I cooked breakfast in the kitchenette each morning and was pleased with the pans and dishware provided; the soap and shampoo in the shower were nice, too.
The location in Nelson is good, right on the main road and easy to get to the airport or to Abel Tasman National Park, but also a reasonably quick walk to the city center.

I travel to Nelson for work about once a month, and I've stayed at Palazzo numerous times. The Palazzo, by a wide margin, is my favourite motel. In difference to many other people running motels, the hosts at Palazzo are just incredibly good at what they do. It's not just the accomplished, friendly manner in which they look after their guests; their attention to detail shows when you get to your room and find that every item has been thoughtfully selected and placed. The rooms are well-appointed and neatly furnished. It's modern but in a cozy, welcoming way. You can tell the hosts are making a serious effort to stay on top of the maintenance and do not allow the place to start looking dated, a fate that many other motels suffer. The bathrooms are top-notch; some have spa baths and others have great walk-in showers. The beds are very comfy.
The motel is ideally placed to explore the CBD on foot and enjoy the area's numerous excellent shops, restaurants and pubs. Even the car park is well thought out and provides ample space to manoeuvre, making parking a breeze.
Travelling for long hours for work is not much fun, but staying at the Palazzo, looked after by its incredible hosts, makes up for it.

Wow, Thanks for the review Nils. We are really appreciative to guests take the time to write one. It all helps . Our #1 asset is our proximity to town , and layout of the Motel. Without your repeat business with us, we would struggle for continuity during the shoulder months. So glad we can accommodate your company throughout the year. Thanks again

The quality of service and attention to detail is outstanding. This was our 2nd stay at the Palazzo and we've already booked to return again. We are always greeted warmly on arrival and Robyn provides helpful information to make your stay more enjoyable. The attention to detail of your room is meticulous, with a high standard throughout. The bed is superb with crisp linen and is extremely comfortable. Our unit this time had a central couch and a pair of breakfast bar stools which made it much easier to sit down properly rather than having to lay on your bed. The balcony was also a lovely way to enjoy the wonderful Nelson weather. The bathroon unit is well equipped and spacious. The same attention is also given to the complex walkways and balconies which are always spotlessly clean and well maintained. Ease of parking in your free parking space is another plus. This accommodation is faultless and I would highly reccomend the Palazxo to you.

My two-week stay at the Palazzo Motor Lodge in Nelson was nothing short of exceptional. The fantastic location provided easy access to the city's attractions while maintaining a peaceful atmosphere, with minimal road noise in the evenings. The well-maintained and spotlessly clean room added to the overall comfort and satisfaction of my stay.
As an avid mountain biker, I appreciated the secure garage facility that ensured the safety of my bike. Additionally, my colleagues who stayed at the lodge were equally well looked after, making it a top choice for both business and leisure travelers.
The warmth and professionalism of the hosts further enhanced our experience, providing a welcoming and friendly environment for all guests. I would highly recommend the Palazzo Motor Lodge to anyone seeking a luxurious and memorable stay in Nelson or passing through on business.

Great service as my partner had left his mobile charger in last hotel we stayed at and had to look for a replacement when we arrived in Nelson. The lady at reception gave us a replacement from other travellers that had done the same thing as us. It saved us the hassle of trying to find a replacement that afternoon which was much appreciated since we only had one night in Nelson.
The motel is a great location within walking distance to town centre, shops and was given a map of places to visit whilst in town. We were told about South St where the towns first street of houses which is around the corner from the motel and I didn’t know about until told to us by lady at reception.
The accommodation it self is well appointed, clean and comfortable for a one night stay. I’d recommend staying there over nearby hotels as we’re support small local businesses that have local knowledge and excellent customer service.

This is a fabulous motor lodge. This is my third time staying here and each time has been outstanding and I will be booking in again. The owners and staff are 'top notch' - welcoming and helpful. The suite we (two of us) had was immaculate and had everything we could possibly need. I loved the way the glassware and crockery was matching and high quality and enough for 4 people (not the mismatched odd glasses you get in some places). The beds in the two rooms were very comfortable with lovely bedlinen, and plenty of wardrobe space for a long weekend stay. The bathroom was wonderful with a great shower and a basin for each of us! We had our own enclosed patio with table and chairs, and lounger, as well as an easily put up sun umbrella (and standard rosemary bushes!!). It was luxurious and what more could you want! Yes, there was wifi, a Nespresso coffee maker, a good selection of teas, and milk in little glass bottles to remind us of a bygone era when milk in towns in Aotearoa was delivered in glass bottles. A big thank you to the owners and may The Palazzo continue to thrive into the future, so I can come back again and again!

Robyn & Max are the loveliest hosts ever. I travel to Nelson for work and stay with them whenever I can. The rooms are spotless, the beds always provide an incredible sleep, and the little touches like the fudges, fresh milk, phone charger and hot drinks selection make me smile. You can always tell that they really care.
