We stayed here 3 nights at the end of Dec 2020. Whilst the rooms are very clean and tidy, the hosts are friendly and it is within walking distance to city it is outdated a little and the beds are below average. The shower is not height adjustable (tall person in couple), fixed to wall, and it has really really low pressure and could do with unblocking the head holes (didn't feel that clean after a shower). The bed was hard and uncomfortable for both of us. There was no food storage area although and oven and dinning table were in our room. Also we had to walk past a guest who was smoking outside his room and the laundry to get to our room upstairs. I thought was overpriced for what it was considering sleep and showering are really important to us.
Positives: Rooms were very clean, beds comfortable with nice sheets, and the hosts were very friendly. Free (but unsecure) wifi. Negatives: Given the price we paid, we would have expected a higher standard. View out the back was of a backyard and a truck, not a river. Apartment decor, furnishings, electrical switches were very dated. It was a hot day and there was no aircon or fan available, so a very sweaty night for everyone. Bathroom had no extractor fan - which added to the humidity of the apartment. No plugs for mobile phone beside the bed. Wifi (which was free) unfortunately was not secure. No milk for teas/coffees provided :(
As the same said, the motel located just next to a riverside. Morning walk around the river is great with the awesome view and clear water flows. Room is clean. We found the weather still cold at night, and there is heater at the living hall. However there isn’t any bed heater available. When we check-in, the reception is very helpful. Since we drove Toyota Highlanders, there is a big parking for us to park the car. The location of the motel is surrounded with cafes, steakhouse and a supermarket. We walked towards the Saturday morning market which took us less than 10 min walks. All in all, we like the stay here.
We stayed for three nights at the Waimarie. The guesthouse is conveniently located near restaurants, a supermarket and the I-site. The rooms are very large, very comfortable with everything you would want. The owner is friendly and helpful without being intrusive. The room was very quiet and we neither heard other guests or the passing traffic. I highly recommend this guesthouse in Nelson. As a bonus you get to play with Poppy the wonder dog, the reidentvDa
Nice place to stay for at least one night. Just a few meters away from the river. City center within walking distance (5-10 mins). Lovely hosts, trying everything to make you as comfortable as possible. My units were well equiped, tidy and with a lot of space. Defo worth a stay!
