During our trip is it South Island we stayed in this hotel for two nights, we stayed in an adapted room for wheelchair access, room 410. The first night sleep was interrupted by the sound of a gentleman next door talking on his phone at midnight, it was also quite a windy night and the windows of this hotel are clearly only single glazed (It was almost as if we were sleeping outside). The hotel in general is quite dated and needs updating which I was advised by a lady on reception will be happening.
We had a bit of trouble finding the hotel but the receptionist at the Hotel Nelson soon put us right - incorrect address shown on our Travel itinerary- but on arrival there was valet parking and help with our luggage. Very comfortable stay at the Rutherford. Room was comfortable with a decent view. Hotel service was friendly. Close to town if you want to walk to a restaurant or a bar. Enjoyed my stay and would stay here again.
Large, clean room with lovely views across the city centre. Staff at check-in and the valet were all friendly and helpful. Good large bathroom. All expected amenities, including kettle, mini-bar, tv etc. Lovely range of toiletries as well.
Best place we have stayed at, great location with only minutes away from the Shopping Centres. Excellent customer service from Kayla at Reception who made our stay just so amazing and giving us a "Room with a View", Level 8, Room 814. So clean and you have all the comforts of home and entertainment that you can see from your room. Great Location with small shops opposite eg: Salon, Wellbeing, Barbers, Historic street homes, gardens, swimming pool, laundry facilities, dining and cafe facilities, Japanese Retaurant on the premises. Even after the Fire Alarm went on at 4 am on 2/1/20, they offered a free full breakfast for us, how excellent is that. Thank you Rutherford Hotel and Kayla for making this a most memorable trip that my husband and I have ever had and being our…
