This really was a gem of a find! I was so pleased to arrive here off a long haul flight, so peaceful, both the house and the setting. The house itself is a beautiful property with lovely views. We stayed in the Crystal Room which was lovely, beautifully presented next to a private entrance to the house. The breakfast was also fantastic and I was particularly impressed that the generous hosts were able to cater for my gluten-free diet so ably with gluten-free cereal and bread. My friend enjoyed homemade granola. We enjoyed the peace and calm, we definitely recommend a stay here!

Hosts Selena and Shane made us feel very welcome in their charming, delightfully furnished home. The views of the bay from the downstairs living room and upstairs balcony are stunning.
While hidden away up a tree-lined avenue the house is just a short walk from a convenience store and pub. And with a slightly longer walk you are the heart of lovely Nelson. Would definitely recommend this B&B

This is a small family run place with three rooms. It is situated near lots of trees – hence the name a woodsy house.” As I can’t manage stairs very well, we stayed in the ground floor Crystal room. It was not ensuite but had a bathroom nearby which was for our exclusive use and also a lovely sitting room. The bedroom had a super king size bed. We had our own entrance to come in and out.

The hosts Selena and Paul are utterly delightful and helpful. Selena is a great cook and makes a wonderful breakfasts– home-made muesli, bread and muffins.

Upon arrival we were greeted with a nice cup of tea and some great home-made carrot cake.

Just to show how helpful our hosts were, we didn’t realise that for new years Eve we should booked a restaurant some days beforehand and everything good was booked. When Selena and Paul heard they asked the restaurant where they were eating if they could squeeze an extra two people onto their table, which unfortunately they couldn’t. Then Selena had a brainwave and contacted a highly rated hotel restaurant whose chef she knew and they fitted us in and we had a lovely meal, rather than take-away fish and chips that we thought we were going to have! Thank you so much Selena and Paul. We certainly could have spent a lot more time with them.

If you like informality, and great hosts this is the place for you. My husband and myself were surprised at the negative review someone has just given this place. If you want formality you should stay at a traditional hotel.

We stayed two nights in the lilac room. The room is big and you have a private bathroom that is located down the hall. You have free wi-fi and the connection is not too bad. Be advised that you have to pay the room cash. We went to Abel Tasman for 2 days and the owner kept our luggages for free which was very helpful. The host was friendly. It is well located if you are by car it is only 5 minutes from the city center. Our experience was positive and we highly recommend this place.

A truly delightful home, full of charm, beautiful furniture and exquisite decour and artefacts.
Regretfully we only stayed the one night. The welcome was most sincere and helpful...with Shane...simply ...a font of knowledge.Thank you so much. The room ,bed, was utterly comfortable,
A most memorable stay indeed.
To establish that Selena and I had our appendices removed by the same surgeon in Bangor North Wales when we were young children was a remarkable coincidence,,,!!

Spent two nights here. Bedroom was a good size and the bed was comfortable. WiFi worked fine. Owner was very nice. From the outside you can see mountains in the distance -- great view. Bathroom is down the hall but pretty big. There is also a common room for eating breakfast and watching TV (not a TV in the room as I recall). Overall very clean and cozy, although a bit dated. Nothing wrong with that in my mind, but some people might care I suppose. Downtown/restaurants about a 5 minute drive and there is a good fish and chips place a short walk away. Driving to Abel Tasman takes around 45 minutes.

Really nothing to complain about and well worth the price. Would recommend to others!

On our arrival at Woodsy house we had a lovely welcome with tea & home made cake which was much appreciated. We also received plenty of advice about what to see & do in the Nelson area.We did not take advantage of the breakfast provided as we were happy to do our own e.g toast which we managed in the guests lounge but I got the impression that we were in the minority. Our room was furnished with olde worlde furniture in keeping with the rest of the house. It was really handy having free internet access. Overall rating of the property was fairly good.

Stunning victorian house overlooking nelson. Warm cakes and coffee was served when we arrived and the hosts were a delight, extremely helpful. Do not miss the breakfast which was simply delicious! The takeaway at Milton is a must as well. Sit by the garden to watch the sunset. If you love cats, you will adore theirs. She snuggles up to u. Did not want to leave the place and will definitely be back !

After staying in hotels and motels around the South Island, this was like arriving at a friend's home. We were greeted with tea/coffee and homemade cake. The room was spacious and although we didn't have an ensuite we had a private bathroom two doors away. As we had the Crystal Room on the ground floor we also were the only guests to use the lounge which had tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge to store beer, wine or food. There was also free use of a computer to check and send emails.
The hosts were very welcoming and I would recommend A Woodsey House to anyone travelling to Nelson.
