Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This motel is small - only 5 units but delivers a lot in a cost effective way. Really appreciated the little things like the complimentary Whittaker’s chocolate bars, nice toiletries in pretty pump bottles, toilet spray, fair trade coffee and hot chocolate and a four slice toaster! Older style motels but very clean and as refurbished as possible for the style. Had everything we wanted. Comfortable bed and once we borrowed light stand from lounge to be a side light on other side of double bed there was good light to read by for both of us. Shower was OK though a bit narrow and only had a curtain so some water went on floor. Great to have the full range of Sky channels. Motel is in a residential area and perhaps would be better closer to the beach. Several places to dine within an easy 1km walk. Friendly owners.

What can I say? The place was almost perfect. The apartment had a large lounge and kitchen area, more than adequate shower/toilet area and a bedroom with the most comfortable bed we've slept in on our travels throughout NZ. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and had everthing needed to eat and relax. Thoroughly recommended.

I made a last minute booking for this place. It was cheap and it was convenient, so i had no expectations for the kind of room I'd be booking. On arrival, i assume, the owner was very welcoming given my current situation and set a more positive mood and atmosphere for me and my partner. Parking is a treat, each room has their own park. The room itself has to be one of the coziest and cleanest rooms i have ever stepped foot in. There's cooking facilities for those wanting to make them up some food, otherwise it's a 5min drive to the main strip where you can eat out. Laundry facilities are available. Bike's and helmets are available too. Everything about it is of a homely comfort. This place is well worth the money for your basic necessities.

We came here not knowing the area and was pleasantly surprised with this little gem. Quiet and comfortable and very well appointed. Has a small kitchen/ dining area, lovely couch and good sized bedroom. Bed was comfortable and had electric blanket. If we were to pick on anything it was the shower as was a bit on the small side and water pressure was not the greatest... otherwise we would have rated 5 stars.

We stayed one night only over the busy Christmas New Year period. The room was larger than we expected for a budget motel and especially clean. We enjoyed the close proximity to the amenities of Nelson. Our unit also had a very pleasant outdoor dining area. I accidentally left a pair of new shoes in the unit and our hosts, Lynn and a Steve, arranged for these to be posted to our address in Australia very promptly. We were a family staying and were very happy with our experience. Lynn was also very knowledgeable about the local area.

We were booked into the Ascot by the Motueka I-site tourist bureau due to a Booking.com accommodation misrepresentation for the Kaiteriteri area. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise, Lyn and Stephan were wonderful hosts, the room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, the welcome warm, the location suited our purposes to a “T”. Originally we booked for 2 nights but stayed for 3 (March 12th thru’ 14th) , played a game of golf with Stephan’s and his club friends and Doris appreciated Lyn’s art lesson. And a “pot-luck” dinner for our last night just made our stay one of the best experiences in a long time. Thank you Lyn & Stephan

We had travelled to Blenheim expecting to get a room. When told that the town was booked out we had to travel on to Nelson to get a room. Ascot Lodge provided three quite nights in a very convenient location just outside Nelson. The small apartment was comfortable, clean and well appointed. The owners were very helpful assisting us whenever we asked, with directions and suggestions for eating places.

Warm reception, I felt right at home. Very tidy clean accommodation with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Easy walking distance from Tahunanui beach. I was well looked after during my stay. A highlight for me was the encaustic (hot wax painting) workshop offered on site with access to the gallery. Go have a look at the beautiful art in the gallery and give the workshop a go! Thank you to the owners who ensured my art retreat was everything I hoped it would be!

We spent 2 nights here, en route from Picton, where we'd walked some of the Queen Charlotte Track and wanted relatively easy access to the Abel Tasman Coastal Path and highway 6 for onward travel down the West Coast. We'd had a difficult start to our holiday because our baggage got lost somewhere between Dubai and Wellington! Lynne and Stephan were lovely, upgraded us to a 2 bedroom apartment and facilitated delivery of our luggage when it finally caught up with us. The accommodation was good, spacious, spotlessly clean and the bedding was very comfortable. Little touches, such as the home made biscuits and a plentiful supply of tea and coffee were much appreciated.
