Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The staff were really friendly and the rooms were well set up and equipped. We felt like we are staying at a luxury lodge. Lots of lighting options, great bathroom, extra blankets etc. The only issue (and I couldn't bring myself to say anything to the staff as they were so kind) was that I found a few long dark threads of hair. It was a bit odd but didn't bother me that much as the bedding was fresh and definitely unused.

No drama about us arriving late after our flight was delayed. Room was very spacious and the beds comfortable. Handy to the local shops / restaurant and beach as well as the airport. Will certainly stay again.

I spent one night with my wife in a standard studio: quite roomy with a separate kitchen and bathroom. Although the place feels a little bit dated, it is clean with a comfortable bed and has everything we needed. It is close to restaurants and shops and within 10mns of the city center by car. Overall, it was perfectly in-line with our expectations. Recommended.

This is our second visit here. Staff very welcoming. They give good recommendations of where to go to visit. Very clean. In walking distance to a few local restaurants and beach. A short drive into Nelson. Also a 20 minute drive to Rabbit Island which is a beautiful unspoilt area of woodland walks and golden sand beaches. Need o take a picnic as no cafes there.

I love the Driftwood, writing this review as we're packing to leave. ( so sad to to go) Such a great place and Lucy is the best host. So accomadating and friendly, the Chinese breakfast was delicious too. ( great dumplings ) Can't beat the location and the apartment was very clean and spacious, I would definitely recommend the Driftwood and plan on coming back.

My wife and I made a last minute decision to stay in the area another night. We lucked out finding this place when we took the last room on offer. We we greeted very well and was taken back by how friendly the receptionist was. While older, the inside of our room was spotless. Everything we could have possibly needed was available. 7 mins walk to the beach, it was the best value for money accommodation we have had in probably 8 years!

Spent 2 nights here with the family. It was a nice peaceful place to be. Well equiped kitchen, comfortable beds, generous Wi-Fi and sky TV. The staff were really polite and helpful even going so far as to bring in and fold a load of our washing and hang a fresh load out for us! This was such a treat.

Driftwood was a fantastic location for a team to stay at. The hosts were sensational with their helpfulness (thanks, Lucy) & the courtyard was a perfect place to relax in the sun with a beer or two in hand. Our apologies to other residents. Thank you Driftwood - I would recommend you in a heartbeat!

Very welcoming and accommodating hosts, nothing was too much trouble, even delivering our laundry to our door and an extra treat of fresh lemons! The units were very clean and well serviced. The motel is within walking distance to the beach and a number or restaurants, we look forward to staying again!

Location was great. 5mins walk from Tahunanui beach, restaurants within 5mins (Smugglers, Thai Tahuna, Mc Dees etc), bottle store and pub across the road. Hosts were very friendly, very accommodating, lollies, chocolates yum :). Rooms clean and tidy. Simple, not flash, but had everything. Will definitely come back again. Had a BBQ (not that we used it but saw other families using it).
