Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Felt a little misled by the 'apartments' title - more a backpacker's hostel. Asked me for $150 when I'd booked months ago at $130 but to be fair, it wasn't an issue after I'd queried it. Could be a lot nicer if updated.

The stair well set the tone for me, dark badly needing a paint job. Common area and kitchen looked ok, first shower we looked in was cluttered with washing machines and drivers. Room basic as and no apparent heater in winter?

We never stayed a night despite paying for 3.

Doubt we will get a refund

Will never recommend or book again.

The location of the apartment is easy to find as it is located at the centre of a small town, oamaru. Once we reached, the apartment was locked and there's no reception or people welcoming us. We were told to get our key from the cafe next door. We were lucky as we got a room facing to the beach. The view from our window was spectacular beautiful and the room is clean, smells lovely and decorated nicely. The shared kitchen also equipped with utensils and other facilities which i reckon as a good place to stay. But what I dislike most, staying at this lovely apartment was there are too many rules for a customer that paid for a stay. The one that I still remembered was, we need to wipe the shower after used which i think it's nonsense. I've stayed in too many hostels around the world with shared bathroom and never encountered with this kind of rules! oh yeah, and we should take the garbage out from the kitchen, after finished cooking (what if, there are many peoples staying at this apartment..who's going to take the garbage out? i bet no one!) Since, it is a very small town, there's not much night-activities we can do outside, I was hoping to watch tv provided at the living room, but it is definitely not functioning! I've asked the korean couple (which i think they are staying there for a quite some time), they also don't know how to switch on the tv. There's some flaws they need to fix, esp. they should have someone to look after the place, as if any emergency matter happen, we do not know to whom we supposed to refer to. Apart from that, the cleanliness make it the best to describe this place.

I booked 2 rooms about a month in advance and arrived to find out that they gave my room to another person!!! If I was travelling alone/with adults I might be a little less bothered. All I got was a "Sorry", "it was an error on booking.com's booking system". Absolutely unacceptable.

To imply Coastal....people would assume you were near a coast
with Coastal views. This is not true ....there are no Coastal views. This property was a very basic aging apartment building
and not a lot has changed.
Tell it as it is owners that's what Kiwis were taught not to deceive .

A friend and I stayed a night in March 18. There was some initial confusion about getting in, and, after phoning the contact number with no reply, we had to go to the adjacent restaurant to pay, and pick up a key. The room was small (Room 1) and cooking ? smells pervaded the building. The accommodation was more like a backpackers, than apartments. I could feel the mattress bed springs, which didn't lead to a comfortable night. Facilities were tired, and although they had a well stocked fridge in the kitchen area, this was apparently for the 2 permanent boarders, who worked at the restaurant. Pluses, were the proximity to the Intercity bus stop, and the free washing and drying facilities supplied. Although not expensive, I would not class this accommodation as good value for money.

My friend and I were stayed just for one night. We arrived about 7.30pm on a Sunday, and was a little confused about the note to go to the cafe for the key, as the cafe was closed. The owner owns the cafe AND the Japanese restaurant, so check both! When we got to the restaurant the manager was really busy so we waited for a little while to pay for the room and get the key.

Once we got in our room it was very spacious for a double with a slight sea view, with a table, chairs, a kettle, wifi, and lots of fluffy soft furnishings to make the room extra nice too. The kitchen was well stocked too, with an honesty shop, and a spacious living area too. The bathrooms were clean too.

Great location from the Intercity bus stop and just a 10 minute walk into town. It is managed by the sushi restaurant next door and the manager welcomed us immediately and was very friendly. Our room was spacious and clean, but the bed was slightly springy. The shared bathroom and toilet was clean with instant hot water. The kitchen was quite dirty which is why I am not giving it 5 stars. The floor was sticky and the cutlery/pans had to be cleaned prior to use. Overall, a perfect place for a short stay. The manager also kindly let us store our luggage in a locked room as the check out time is 10am and our bus didn't depart until later.

It was a last minute decision to stay here and we were very happy we did. Check in to the apartment style accommodation is at the restaurant downstairs called Midori. They were very friendly and let us check in much earlier. Free parking was down a lane beside the building. It was very quiet inside and super clean. Rooms were large, including towels and full linen. Kitchen was stocked with dishes and utensils, plus the sitting room area was very comfortable. Showers and bathrooms were also excellent. Couldn't fault this place and would highly recommend
