Detailed Reviews
We were heading home to Dunedin from Christchurch when the road was closed at Hampden. I contacted the hosts of Riverside Haven and they booked us in for the night straight away and were extremely helpful and friendly when we arrived. They even reserved our room for the next night incase we ended up needing it. Absolutely wonderful experience even with being stuck and unable to get home with my kids.

This is a wonderfully peaceful camping ground, with loads of power points, water taps, showers, toilets etc. The owner and his wife are very accommodating and go out of their way to help. It is also dog-friendly and not far from the shops in Hampden, can't praise it enough.

Having stayed at this place some years ago we rebooked. Under new ownership the hotel rooms are sadly neglected. The bed sagged in the middle and the sheets were thick fleecy ones with matching pillow cases in the height of summer. Not only that but they had a bobble pattern on them like braille that was so dreadful to sleep on. We lay on a towel all night. Really unless they buy new sheets and actually understand what a guest needs, stay elsewhere!

Excellent amenities, wonderful owners and very well kept park. Everything is clean and tidy and the owners are wonderful. Definitely recommend. Its dog friendly as well which is great and has a playground for the kids. Perfect spot right by the river away from the hustle and bustle.

Camped at a non powered site and owners were friendly and very helpful in doing the extra little things, e.g. adding solar lighting to show a pathway between the trees to the facilities for late night visits. Easy spot and traffic noise from main road not a problem. Lots of farm animals for the kids to check out too.

We hammocked here recently and spent a delightful night next to the river. The owners are friendly and helpful. The facilities are well-maintained, and there's plenty of room. They have a variety of rescued animals on the property, as well as some Highland cattle. Definitely pet friendly.

Warren and Janene have been really nice and helpful with us. Their place is so cosy and warm, in the nature, with a beautiful river in the garden !
They offered us to use the kitchen and the lounge of the backpacker (we were with a campervan) because it was really cold.
Warren knows pretty well his country and gave us some good plans for visiting !
Short stay but good memory !
Thanks a lot Warren and Janene !
