Detailed Reviews

We had a one night stay at the Alma motel. The grounds are well kept and the little units have got everything you need. We booked two units. One had a stove and the other had a microwave, toaster, kettle and small fridge.
It is situated outside town and tucked behind the service station.
The guy at the reception was friendly and gave us a run down of the places of interest in Oamaru.
For a budget hotel, it is what you would expect.
I would stay here again.

I had to make an unexpected trip to Oamaru and was fortunate to book in to Alma Motel. This was the cleanest, tidiest motel - of any price bracket - I have ever stayed in. The owner/manager was accommodating and flexible to fit me in at short notice, which required me to move units at one point. Both units were spick and span, warm and comfortable. The motel is located on the main highway but is surprisingly quiet considering. The decor is exactly as the photos indicate so not the most "contemporary" looking. However, the cleanliness, customer service, and quiet rural setting make this a place I would choose to stay at again.

A return trip for me with some different friends along this time. Very accomoding with requests and had a great stay. Lovely atmosphere even though a little out of town but only a short 7 minute drive to Oamaru. Has a real country feel to it. Thank you Kerry for all your help.

Excellent value for price; location so close to Oamaru that you don't really need to stay in town, and this will save you $40-$100 easily; only 4 min drive to Oamaru; owners welcoming and couldn't do enough for us; gave info on local activities; cannot rate it highly enough. Owners take great care of premises; it's a dated building but paint and amenities are clean and all in excellent condition. I would not hesitate to recommend Alma Motel to anyone, and would stay again. Family room had EVERYTHING you need in the kitchen; the detail was unbelievable! Just book it!

The perfect quiet motel away from the city centre. Nearby is a beach, and a local landmark - totara estate. The owners of the motel were very friendly and welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed, and there was a gas station next door where you can fill up before travelling further. Very comfortable and clean. Would recommend this motel to everyone.

A little out of town. But just a quick drive in. Not a modern motel but has everything you want plus real milk! ( not thimbles like newer motels offer). Quiet too. Yeah a little older .. but clean and good value
Have since stayed, and had a more modern unit. If i could give an excellent plus I would!

motels are some distance from Oamaru but if you have a car - no worries. Accomodation is in a lovely setting with plenty of lawn and garden surrounding the units spread around the site. Some road noise but probably depends on which unit you stay in. Friendly and accomodating owners.

Had a really warm welcome to Alma motels and found we had everything we needed and more.
The rooms themselves are slightly dated but there's absolutely nothing wrong with them! Everything is well looked after, clean and functional. The place has a certain charm & I'd way rather stay here than a carbon copy budget hotel.

We really enjoyed our stay here; we had a unit beside the garage with horses in the pasture nearby. Our unit was adequate, clean and tidy and the gardens had lovely roses blooming. We did not hear any road noise from the nearby highway and the wifi was good. We particularly like the Manager who had a friendly personality.
