This was our treat on our road trip to Dunedin. We were not disappointed. The welcome, the dinner, breakfast and all the interesting information provided - each was memorable! The work these guys have done to renovate this magnificent home is a testament to a grand commitment and passion. Next time we will stay longer! PS: Elephant Rocks and the road over Dansey Pass was icing on the cake. Thanks for the heads up.

We booked a one night stay with only a few hours notice. James made us so welcome with homemade biscuits on arrival, unfortunately we had not booked dinner so had to dine out but even so James gave us pre dinner drinks with beautiful canapés. The attention we received, we thought we could have been the only ones staying in this tastefully furnished lodge. A visit to see the blue penguins in the evening should not be missed. Breakfast with the majority of food being home grown was a delight. We will definitely return with a booking for dinner and will look forward to walking George (the cockapoo).

This is a stunning place to stay. The Victorian mansion has been superbly maintained with wonderful furniture, furnishings and art works. The hosts were charming, warm and welcoming. The food was outstanding with a wonderful use of the vegetable garden and other (mostly local) produce. The flavours, the textures and the presentation of the meals were amazing, with great wine matches. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

We’ve just enjoyed a fabulous weekend in the beautiful Nest room at this impressive lodge. The wonderfully warm hospitality by Team Jameses, in particular James no 1, is reason alone to want to stay longer. Excellent meals (dinner is to die for) and nothing was too much bother. We really appreciated being so well looked after. Thank you!

We booked a two night stay at this heritage lodge as we had read such great reviews and we just had to experience it too. We were welcomed by co-owner James Glucksman and shown to our luxury suite in the heritage annex wing. WOW - The Nest is simply gorgeous - the colours, the stone walls, large comfortable bed and ensuite with a bath and a walk-in shower. Dinner was exceptional -we were served a 4-course dinner crafted by James and accompanied by local wines. Breakfast was superb too as James lovingly makes his own jams and preserves, together with fresh croissants. Just go - you’ll love it.
