Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We loved everything about this B&B. The hosts were really great and provided helpful advice on local sightseeing. They also thought of the small thoughtful matters like warming our room while we were out on a cold evening and providing tea and cookies on arrival. Breakfast was extensive and very tasty. The room was large with an ensuite and large wardrobe.

An exceptional B & B in Oamaru. A 10 minute walk into town, from a lovely charming old villa, yet modernised and very comfortable. Liz and Dave have spent much time (and money) on preserving the charm of this house, and are very attentive and helpful hosts. Gave good advice on destinations to go to in the Waitaki area, and provided an excellent breakfast. Very highly recommended. We have no connection with Oasis on Orwell, except as satisfied customers.

Dave & Liz are great hosts. The B&B is beautifully furnished and comfortable rooms. We had a beautiful view over the bay. The breakfast was 5 star. Great attention to detail. We were given great helpful tips on what to see on our way to Oamaru, how to get the best experience when viewing the blue penguins, and what was best to see when we left Oamaru. This is a true B&B!

We had a wonderful time here. A little afternoon tea treat upon arrival. Some great tips on places and times to visit. Comfy bed and superb choice and quality of breakfast. The location is ideal as only a 2 min drive back in into town.

From the street, this BnB looks like a modest cottage. Step inside and be wowed! Dave & Liz are such gracious hosts and are a wealth of info on the local area. The breakfast was amazing; food to last the entire day! We appreciated the treats upon our arrival too. Our Master Bedroom suite included all the amenities & the bed was very comfy! Dave lined us up for the penguin parade at dusk and suggested a visit to the wallaby refuge on our way north. These were two of our favorite highlights for our entire trip! Thanks Dave & Liz from Debra & John

We went here because of the rating and reviews on trip advisor and we were not let down. Lovely room, good location and absolutely brilliant hosts. The knowledge and guidance of the local area and the breakfasts were second to none. If you're looking to stay in Omaru look no further. Superb!!

That's how I felt like, after a long day and stepping into this "room"! It had everything - including a big "walk in closet room", ensuite-bath. In the room was homebaked cookies and tea. The room is great! The couple was super-nice and friendly, even lent me his jacket for the penguin show, as it was cold. The breakfast is the BEST i had for the entire trip, so good!!! Would go again!

We stayed with Liz and Dave for 2 nights in a lovely queen size en-suite room just a bit north of the historical centre of Oamaru. They are a wonderful couple who treated us like family and we spent quite some time getting to know each other, learning about the natural and factual history of the area from them and having lively discussions on many subjects. You just don’t get that at a Marriott! Very well appointed room and a large stocked bathroom, little things like slippers and robes, evening turn-downs, our own mini fridge in the room (essential for the NZ Sauv Blanc), etc, etc. Breakfasts were excellent ranging from the huge full English Breakfast (too big for us) to smoked salmon and poached eggs or home made salmon cakes along with all the add-ones you could want - fruit, yogurt, cereals, home made muesli, toast, jam etc! We highly recommend staying with Liz and Dave - you will be warmly welcomed, treated amazingly while there and given a hug when you leave! What more do you need?

Oasis on Orwell is a beautiful villa showcasing wonderful art-deco era design features. The presentation and comfort of the accommodation is more than enough to warrant a 5-Star rating but that's totally eclipsed by the exceptionally warm hospitality provided by Liz & Dave, which takes the B&B experience to a totally different level. We only had a 1-night stay, but we felt like we'd met new best friends by the time we departed! To top it all off, breakfast was top-notch in terms of options, quality and presentation. Simply perfect! I wish there was a 6th star rating reserved for such exceptional experiences and needless to say, this will definitely be our stopover of choice for future road trips through this part of the world.

Third time staying with Dave and Liz and everything was still as great as before. Including the hosts' overwhelming hospitality, comfortable rooms and delicious breakfast and pastries! My wife enjoyed the banana bread a lot. The hosts were so thoughtful to bring out the toys and rocking horse for my toddler. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for all who's travelling to the attractive quaint town.
