A luxury bed and breakfast experience awaits you in our historic Oamaru stone mansion. The first stone dwelling to be built in the district in 1861, it is yours to enjoy with elegantly appointed guest rooms, sea views and private surrounds. Each of the three guest rooms features its own personality with vibrant wallpapers from graphic artist Emma J Shipley, who has partnered with Clarke and Clarke to bring exotic into their wallpapers. From "Amazon" in our Graham Chamber to "Caspian" featuring the British lion in the Borton Chamber to "The Lost World" in the McMullan Chamber, a room which remained unfinished for over 80 years. We have created a unique feeling in each room to enhance your stay and overall experience with us. In addition to your private bedroom and ensuite we invite you to enjoy the Burns Sitting Room and foyer area which contains a kitchenette with an instant hot water tap, complimentary tea and coffee, filtered water and microwave for exclusive in-house guest use. Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I booked this over a year ago - a 1 night stay with a friend. Wish it could have been longer. Absolutely loved everything about this boutique hotel - from the wonderful warm welcome of the hosts Katrina and Brenda, to the absolutely divine restoration they have completed. The rooms are all unique and gorgeous - amazingly styled and great attention to details. It felt such a privilege to stay somewhere so special. I'm already thinking about how I can visit again! Thanks for a lovely experience.

Do not miss this gorgeous BNB! Every detail of this beautifully restored mansion is perfect, from the lovely rooms to the comfy lounge and wonderful restaurant. We spent a 6-day Covid recovery here and kept counting our blessings that we'd landed in such luxury with the most generous and friendly of hosts. Don't recommend the Covid - but definitely visit Casa Nova House...and Oamaru's penguins are worth seeing too!

The host was great, the room and facilities were first class and the hotel was comfortable and full of character. The service level was excellent. The restaurant was very good and food prices were not excessive. If you are prepared to pay top dollar to stay in Oamaru then we could not fault the Casa Nova. For us however it was overpriced and the cost would prohibit us from going again, when all you are really getting is bed and breakfast….…. Then being asked to pay 2% extra (pet hate of ours) to pay by credit card is insulting.

From the warm greeting we received until the lovely farewell everything about our stay at Casa Nova was simply lovely. The rooms are all well-appointed and specified to a very high standard, they lacked nothing - the bed was super comfortable and the bathroom very luxurious. Our room had a lovely view across the grounds to the town and a balcony we could access. Highly recommend Casa Nova for a romantic get away.

Our group of 4 had the most wonderful stay at Casa Nova, we could only fit in 1 night on the 4th November and we were treated like royalty from the start with our warm welcome from Brenda (one half of the amazing duo) who is a stunning chef, Gardner, hostess extraordinaire! The home has been brought back to life with beautiful wallpapers and soft furnishings sourced from overseas, antiques and artworks, designing the carpet throughout themselves and each of our 2 rooms paid tribute to its Oamaru heritage. Our beds soooo comfortable that we took note of the make and model. We enjoyed a fabulous tapas meal (cooked by Brenda) at their restaurant 1861 which was the best meal we have had out in ages definitely surpassing where we had eaten in Auckland in the previous 6 months, our wait staff were engaging and had a keen sense of humour! Thank you Brenda and Katrina for having us stay and I hope we can come back again sooon!

Casa Nova exceeded our already high expectations. The renovation of this grand old house was extraordinary--they really had an eye for design. The bedroom was large and comfortable with a spectacular bathroom. The lounge/breakfast room was spacious. The restaurant was some of the best food we had in New Zealand and the proprietors were warm and friendly. In making reservations, we had vacillated between this and a much more expensive luxury B & B option, and we're so glad we chose Casa Nova. The proprietors also have opened a pub and restaurant in the historic part of the city. We ate dinner one night there and were quite impressed. If we return to Oamaru, we'll definitely be back.

Casa Nova House is sheer luxury. We thoroughly enjoyed our one night, we should have booked for longer. There is so much to do in and around Oamaru. The house is beautifully decorated and luxurious. The bed is very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. Katrina provided us with advice on what to see and do in and around Oamaru and dining options. The gardens are well maintained. An excellent choice for accommodation in Oamaru.

My partner and I had the best stay here. We were greeted by the friendliest hosts and staff which made our experience at Casa Nova all that much better. The house it’s self is just amazing, felt like walking back in time to a stately manor. The food in the restaurant downstairs is to die for, definitely a must do again trip. We highly recommend Casa Nova from the staff and hosts, to the decor, the super comfy Super King bed, and to the cat Claudia who is so adorable. I give Casa Nova a well deserved 5/5.
