Loved this place. It manages to be very quiet despite being on the main road into town. It's an easy drive to get anywhere in Oamaru.
Staff was very friendly and helpful and made check-in a breeze.
Room details: it is very spacious. The bed is very soft (some people like soft beds and some don't, so if this is good depends on your preference!) Good desk area to work. Shower was very powerful and there was a heater in the bathroom to get everything warmed up for you. Kitchenette was supplied with everything you would need for a meal. They have a great selection of movies to watch in-room, which we took advantage of. If you are here in winter, the heater is very effective and keeps the room warm!
The only downside for us was the lack of control over the heat. We were told not to touch it. It got very warm in the middle of the night, but we didn't want to wake someone up in order to get them to turn off the heat. If we had enough control to turn it on and off, that would have made an enormous difference to our stay.

One night stay on our way up the East coast. Modern motel near to town, reasonable size room with large bed. Great wet room with plentiful toiletries, TV has local channels plus some Sky channels, kitchen area with hob, microwave, toaster, kettle. Parking outside room. Internet speed excellent @ 90Mbps / 90. Two negative points 1. the host was unusually reticent unlike what we had become accutomed to in NZ 2. Even though the temperature was unusually cold the heating had been turned off and required a phone call to the office to switch it on.

Overnight stay and very happy with Highfield Mews. The room was spacious, comfortable and very clean with all amenities needed and one of the best showers ever !! Allocated parking spot near the room was handy & the owners were friendly and very helpful with suggestions & info on how best to spend our time in Oamaru. Location is very convenient for a short walk into town and even closer for Steampunk & Whitestone Cheese ! Well recommended & would happily return.

Stayed here for the night during our school holiday trip around the South Island. For value for money it was poor, as it was one of the more expensive places we stayed at, but we considered it our worst accommodation on our trip. Uncomfortable bed, poor/non existent wifi and a noisy panel heater really made the stay underwhelming.

Sorry for your underwhelming stay. no one came to ask about the WIFI which we have one of the best in Oamaru (only 2 motels with this WIFI) noisy panel heater not noted to office other wise another could have been bought another to your room. As for the bed Goldilocks syndrome.

Stayed one night in a Spa King Cottage at the Mews in Oamaru. The owner, Paula, greeted us at reception, walked us to our cottage and made dinner reservations at the Del Mar Restaurant next to the Blue Penguin Colony viewing site. Very impressed with Paula’s brilliant and friendly service. The unit was exceptionally designed with a small living area with a full apartment size kitchen, separate bedroom and bathroom with a very deep spa. Two flat screen TVs and fast WiFi was a plus. Glad we made reservations early, because February is usually Chinese New Year. One of the best values for lodging we’ve enjoyed.

brilliant accommodation spacious and clean room with little kitchen including fridge microwave kettle and basics you would need to cook a meal. Lounge area with arm chairs. WiFi was flaky location is about 20 minutes from the town centre. Eateries close by. Car parked right outside.

The facilities are very comfortable and quiet with anice living area and a very well-equipped kitchen and bath. There was some mix-up with the travel agency upon our arrival, but the manager and her husband quickly straightened out the issue and provided us with the appropriate accommodation and apologies for the confusion, though it was not a problem created by them. They ware also more than helpful in providing information as to dining opportunities within walking distance and gave up their own personal parking space for our friend to use for his motorcycle as a safety precaution. All in all, great service and a caring attitude - a welcome reception after a long day of driving.

We love staying here at Highfield Mews since it's close to town and the facilities are modern and complete. Spa is a plus which one of the reason we keep on coming back. Staffs are nice and they improve a lot like placing small table and chairs to dine and keeping heaters staying on even on daytime (you can turn it off of course!). Wifi pw can be found on the guest info on the table. We will definitely come back here again..
