The next day as we finally got our keys - we just missed the courier and went out exploring and she drove around the city trying to find us! She eventually found us on the side of the road and drove us to the car shop to get our car! This is serious dedication to customer happiness and we were only staying one night!
After all of that - she gave us tips on how to get to where we were going and also suggested a few alternative routes. The hospitality alone makes this enough to be 5 stars in my book. The rooms were totally pleasant, as well - clean and quiet - nothing luxurious but still very comfortable.
Give this place a shot!
Apart from the 2 flies in the room, it was clean, the lighting was ok with bedside lamps, wall lamps and a pendant light on the ceiling and one over the kitchenette area.
The room was quite spacious with 2 well worn tub chairs, a small TV on a stand and a dining table with 2 chairs. The kitchen had crockery/cutlery, a full stove and a fridge for those who wanted to dine in.
The bathroom was old with a tin basin, a moulded shower cubicle which was a bit small, the floor was lino and the toilet was separated from the rest of the area by a partition. Bathroom products were a paper sachet of shampoo and one of body wash. The lovely soft towels after a hot shower were welcome as was the comfortable bed.
We booked about 6 weeks in advance and most places were booked out on the day we required.
It was fine for an overnight stay, when passing through this area, but I would recommend looking at other options.
The Host(Husband) brought baby cot as we requested and then suddenly he yelled to my wife and complaint my baby is not baby as she is working and touch windows.
What a Joke!!!!!
This host don't know what a service is and not welcome for kids.....
After we explained clearly to him about baby and he said " you r liar" and then he asked me to pay extra $20.00 for baby cot and yelled me " baby made window dirty with finger prints" and then host said " do you know how hard to clean the windows that's why she is not baby as she can walking and touch window etc...Oh my god.....
How come 1 yrs and 7 months baby is not baby?????
I seriously advice everyone is going to stay with kids in this terrible motel, be careful!!!!
They will make stories and trying charging extra.
We have own hospitality business in NZ for 15 yrs and I never understand hosts attitude and service...
We never go back here and tell everyone either!!!
Spacious and comfortable accomodation, friendly and helpful proprietors.
One word of warning - don't get a take-away from the chinese just up the road out of town - it was dreadful - our worst chinese ever - and horrendously expensive.
Do, however, eat at Kingsgate Hotel Brydone in the town (walkable), walk the antique shops in the old town, visit the restored Totara Estate sheep farm, and see the penguins come ashore at night.
Large rooms, clean and adequate heating. Only issue is the slippery staircase up to the second floor.
Easy parking and friendly reception.
