Super quiet room - we were facing the airport and didn't hear the planes at all. We ate dinner and breakfast in the restaurant - both delicious meals. Staff in the restaurant were friendly and helpful. Thank you. We will return.
My husband and I stayed here unexpectedly last week during a storm, when we saw family off to Ireland and didn’t want to drive all the way back to Northland. We had stayed here 10 years ago and thought it fabulous. This time things weren’t quite up to scratch. The bed and the shower were fabulous. Unfortunately, the bathroom supplies did not includes toothbrushes or body wash, which was an essential for us. There was no sign of a room service menu, either in printed form or on the tv info. There is no free parking even though it is advertised as a 4.5 star. It was quite a walk to and from the car, and cost $45 to park for the night. The best thing, of course, is the location of the hotel, being right on the airport grounds.
Enjoyed a one night stopover after arriving from Honolulu and continuing onto Melbourne the next morning. Located a minutes walk from International arrivals makes it easy. Have stayed here pre Covid I was very happy to be back again. Rooms are well appointed and well sized with very nice bathroom amenities. Had dinner in the restaurant and food 100%. I enjoyed a pizza while my travelling companion enjoyed the Eye Fillet. Got a great nights sleep and then enjoyed breakfast the next morning before heading back to the airport. Pre covid breakfast was a buffet and for the moment it's A la Carte. Hopefully the buffet will return. Great to see you back open Novotel Auckland after 2 years of helping the government with quarantine. See you again soon
Firstly I would like to start by thanking Bella for all of her help. She is a absolute credit to the hotel. She was kind, friendly and helpful during our stay and nothing seemed to be to much trouble for her. I'll start with the positives. If you have to do an MIQ stay this is the hotel you want. My mother has had two horrific stays in Auckland at other isolation facilities so I was dreading doing it with a toddle and my father. The food was of a great quality and although never delivered piping hot it was always at an acceptable temperature. The timings of the meals were reasonable. My 2 year old was allowed to opt for an adult meal rather than a child one. We didnt even bother doing a supermarket shop as there really was no need. They were happy to cater to my request for no onion (which must have been a pain as a lot of the food contained onion). We were given a selection of different drinks with each meal ranging from soft drinks, juice, smoothies, flavored milk and water. Tea, Coffee, Sugar and milk were replenished as frequently as we needed them. After a room change we were missed off the delivery for one meal, when we highlighted this it was bought up straight away. The next day we recieved an apology and room service check with us that each meal had been delivered (mistakes happen it wasnt a big issue). Reception stopped by day 1 with a lovely gift and card welcoming us. My daughter has become very attached to the toy kiwi and the kitkat went down a treat. The beds are comfortable, the linen is good quality and there was a selection of different pillows. We also requested new linen after 2 days (toddlers are messy) and that wasnt an issue they even bought up additional towels without requesting them. The room was spotless, the blackout curtains do their job and we didnt hear and aircraft or guest for the entire duration of the stay. The outdoor area was acceptable with an area for familes for play with children. They provided chalk which my daughter loved. Note - you will feel like you are in a prison yard and there is not shade from the sun. Niether of these things can be helped. The cot provided for my daughter had an additional mattress which was a nice touch and it was in good condition. When we first checked in our room was 28c and the following morning I hadnt managed to get it below 25c. When they found out there was an actual issue with the room we were swapped almost straight away ( I accept this must have been a nightmare for them). They called to check that afternoon and the following day that it was working. The only issue I do have is that the privacy curtain in the new room was broken. They were unable to sort this out . As it was my father, my daughter and I it did make it rather uncomfortable. All in all if you have to do an MIQ consider yourself lucky if you are placed here!…
We are a family of five and we were quite nervous about being stuck in a room for 14 days. We were very fortunate to have ended up at the Novotel as our MIQ hotel and if you are assigned this hotel upon arrival, you know you will be in good hands! When we entered our room for the first time, we were pleasantly surprised to see that we had been assigned two adjoining "premiere" rooms on the top floor. It must've been the only space available to accommodate the size of our family, so I guess that is the one advantage of having to quarantine with three kids. The room was super clean, spacious, and the best part was the AMAZING view. We could see the airport and the ocean. Obviously there weren't many planes moving about, but it was still enough to entertain my son who would look out the window each day to see what planes had arrived. We were also very impressed with how quiet the hotel was. We literally could not hear any other guests from our room. It felt like we were the only ones in the hotel and it wasn't until we ventured out for our daily exercise that we realized there were actually others staying in the hotel...haha. On that note, when we did have our one-hour of exercise outside, our kids were given colored chalk to use for drawing. This was actually our kid's favorite part of the day. They loved going outside and drawing things in the parking lot with the chalk and then viewing the drawings from our room. Unfortunately, my son decided to draw some poop and other funny pictures so we asked the hotel staff to clean it just in case. It was quite funny, but embarrassing that literally everyone could probably see his drawings from their hotel rooms...haha. As for the food services, we had read some horror stories online about the terrible quarantine food of other places, so we were prepared to go full Uber Eats or Countdown deliveries. However, we were pleasantly surprised with the meals. There was a wide, rotating selection, and always plenty of extras in terms of fruits, drinks, and other snacks. Actually, I would say the only negative is that there was too much food. We actually called the hotel restaurant to request smaller portion of foods because we felt so bad with all the food waste. They were VERY accommodating with all of our food requests. We knew we weren't on a luxury vacation, so we were careful not to be too demanding/picky with our food requests. However, any small or big requests we had the restaurant staff was more than willing/able to accommodate. As for the cleaning/housekeeping services, the staff was excellent. Always friendly and even leaving positive notes each time we had laundry pickup or requested more garbage bags. The cleaning staff is probably the most exposed to the dangers of the coronavirus (aside from health workers of course), but it was amazing that they could keep such a positive attitude and atmosphere as front-line workers - thank you so much! Actually, thank you to ALL the hotel staff and nurses who put themselves at risk every day as front-line workers. It's truly sad to hear that some of these amazing workers have been verbally and even physically abused as front-line workers. For those planning to quarantine, please keep this in mind and show your appreciation to these wonderful front-line workers. Of course it's difficult to go through a mandatory 14-day quarantine, but just imagine having to place yourself in that environment each day as a part of your job. I am truly thankful to all these workers. This has been quite a long review, but I would like to end by saying I HIGHLY recommend this hotel. Once travel returns to normal, anyone needing a quick layover hotel near the airport, this is the hotel to choose!…
We are finally on our last day of 14 in MIQ.When we arrived like everybody you are nervous with the whole system-Covid,personal safety and what will 14 days be like locked in your room.Well the Novatel AA has been one heck of an experience! The hotel staff are simply amazing and nothing is never too much trouble. They have the ability to be safe and secure but at the same time incredibly helpful and try so very hard to make this experience as pleasing as possible. The Army/airforce team are just such nice people and the security folk go out of their way to help.My wife and I can recommend this place and will most definitely use these people again once life returns to normal-last thing and possibly the most discussed topic-the food is wonderful-and the kitchen staff will change anything around for you from just an internal phone call.Well done NAA-you have smashed this and made our stay so very comfortable.thank you so much…
Half way through our 2 week quarantine and have only good things to say. Great food (a bit too much maybe), excellent service and friendly people. Wonderful view to the Waitakeres and Manukau harbour with the added entertainment of overlooking the exercise yard, which we are allowed to use all day anytime - except a couple of hours when the joggers get it mask free. If you have to do quarantine this is the place to do it. Rooms high and facing west are best.
This is a terribly overpriced hotel for what you get, which is bad service and no sleep. The walls are very thin, the staff, (especially the female duty manager), are an absolute joke and the rooms are very uncomfortable - The heating/cooling doesn’t work well at all. Considering how much they charge its really not worth it just to walk out the airport to your hotel when there are several hotels in the area that are priced much better and actually cater to the travellers needs. Would highly recommend AVOIDING this place unless you enjoy an overpriced, uncomfortable stopover
I'm staying here now as part of my 2-week quarantine. I have to agree with another reviewer, the rooms are so quiet, clean and very comfortable. The bed would have to be the best one I have ever slept on in all my years of travelling. The staff here, every single one I have had interaction with have impressed me with their friendliness and efficiency. Its my first time staying at a Novotel and it certainly wont be my last. Management can be proud.
This hotel is lovely. The room I stayed in came with a deep bath, couch, desks (1 big and 1 small), and queen bedding. The rooms are very modern and feel new. The staff are great too. The wifi streams well too. Hotels near the airport can often be a hit or miss when it comes to noise.. but I have noticed it is so beautifully quiet, despite being just across the road from the airport. I particularly love the huge windows to get that morning sun, and there are blackout curtains if you're a bit of a vampire. It is also nearby to The Warehouse if you're keen to get a bit of shopping done.
