Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The lodge is conveniently located only if you have to take an early flight on the following day , but it was quite difficult to find it when you use a GSP ! The young cleaning lady was very nice and helpful and this was my second and last positive comment . As soon as we arrived , the manager asked us ( we were two families ) to pay at once !And when we entered the units we were utterly disappointed : there was no washing machine and there were only beds ( a large and a small one) The television didnot work , the room was smelly and on top of that , there were flies !! The manager always had a good excuse for these unconveniences . ( the traffic , previous guests who had cooked middle-east food a week earlier ... ). he " generously " gave us a 10 dollars refund ! So we paid 260 dollars for 2 nights instead of 270 , wow , I am amazed !! .
Avoid this lodge , choose a hotel in Manukau city and do not trust their web page ( the units can't have up to six people - unless they are willing to sleep on the floor - )

Auckland was our stop-over on our way up north and Walmsley Lodge was a delightful find. Although we arrived quite late at night, the proprietors were accommodating and friendly.

Our room was spacious, clean and fresh. The bedroom was separate, tastefully furnished and very comfortable. Loved the newly refurbished bathroom, with its dispensers and modern decor too.

A lovely home-cooked breakfast was brought to our room in the morning, inclusive with the room rate - real butter, eggs and bacon with tasty sweet tomatoes - just what you need to refuel for the day ahead!

Although Walmsley Lodge is situated on a busy road, the rooms were surprisingly quiet and our vehicle (and our building) secure within the grounds.

All in all a great place to stay.

Compared to our last accomodation in this area - we were very happy with Walmsley and will definitely be returning. The staff were excellent - friendly, super helpful and knowledgable. Buses were really handy (both directions) and we were within walking distance of where we needed to go each day. We stayed 5 nights in the B&B lodge which was great although the B for Breakfast was a bit lacking. We did have full use of the lodge kitchen though. Cleanliness was great and I'd really recommend this place. As a bonus its really close to the airport too. Happily recommend either of the B & B options (which are 2 singles and a super king).

Second time we've stayed here - and I can think of no other accommodations we've ever stayed in twice, which indicates how happy we were with Walmsley Lodge. The first time we stayed we loved the B & B part of the complex, but as we were staying with a 3rd party this last time, we had to take a motel unit which we were most impressed with - spacious, light and clean, with tons of room for the 3 of us. Mike transferred us both ways from the airport and stored our car on the property while we were in Australia, so we had no worries about our vehicle at all. Mike is affable and helpful and nothing seems too much trouble; we'd definitely stay there again.

In September 2010 my husband I enjoyed a return visit to Walmsley Lodge - our 4th in the last couple of years - as it would not occur to us to stay anywhere else when using Auckland airport (7 minutes to airport - 25 minutes to Auckland City) having found this gem! The hospitality is excellent - the units have extremely well appointed kitchen areas and the units are spacious and comfortable with a great cooked breakfast delivered to our unit. An Auckland airport shuttle is always available - with a smile - even at 2:00 a.m. Our hosts, Mike and Lianne treat us like old friends and always go the extra mile. We recommend Walmsley Lodge without reservation.

Yes, the toilet seat was still broken! No milk or tea towels. Impossible to sit on the two broken settees so sat on the stained kitchen chairs instead. The fan in the bathroom makes a terrible noise. Carpets in bad shape. No light bulb in the bed side lamp.
Electrical fitting on the wall by the microwave is loose.
Outside roof guttering is literally growing a jungle. Probably is relying on the $40 day rate to survive.

We stayed two nights on arrival in auckland. We chose the Walmsley Lodge because it had 1 bed appartments so we could be awake at night without disturbing others!! We know about jet lag after flying from the UK !!
Mike met us at the airport which was fabulous as we did not need to find a bus or taxi.
The place was spacious and clean.
Breakfast was delivered to our door at the time we requested and we can only say that we found the welcome warm and friendly.

I had the most lovely light and airy room on the top floor of the 1920's house at Walmsley lodge. Loved the owner, loved the walk to Mangere for dinner, the neighborhoods and the access to the airport. And free WiFi and breakfast! Such a nice place!

From the stained spare mattress propped up behind the ripped couch, to the food left in the microwave and urine on the toilet seat - This place served the purpose of a place to sleep, even though we feared bed bugs till about 3am... There was "extra" linen draped over a drying rack in the bedroom upstairs, only two towels in the room and a single roll of toilet paper. If there was ever the tightest way to run a "hotel", these folks had it down pat.
