We arrived a bit before 2.00pm but the person who answered the bell in the office told us to come back as we were too early( there was another couple behind us as well). Not a great welcome! We came back an hour later and our room was comfortable and clean and the bed was comfortable but the room was tired and in need of refurbishment. This motel is well situated across the road from the sea front
and with good views of the bay. The redeeming feature was the large continental breakfast provided, delivered to our unit the night before.

I don't know what I was expecting but for the $180 I paid on Booking.com I feel quite disappointed.. seeing how others were given deals from $90 - $115.. there are deals going for $105 next month???

Best thing was the spa bath.. absolutely phenomenal! Loved the kitchenette 🥰 Cooked a fantastic crayfish meal 💜

Reasonably priced, clean motel. Well situated near the beach with great views. Clean tidy rooms. Sky TV service was minimal - some free to air channels (1,2,3,Bravo,Prime) complimented by a sky movie, sport and discovery channel - No news services. Wireless data service by token but only 1Gb so access to streaming services is not possible without further cost. No telephone service in the rooms.

We were very disappointed with this establishment and their attitude. We were booked to stay on the night of the 14 February, the day no ferries were running. We were on the North Island so it was impossible to get there. They refused us a refund as they said we could have given them 2 days notice but there was less than a days notice of the ferries stopping. They also refused to change the date for a future booking or give us a credit. With the country in a declared state of emergency we felt this was very unfriendly behaviour and not one that we would expect to find at this time in New Zealand. We are telling all our friends and contacts about this unfortunate experience.

Lovely Location, and quiet traffic. The bed was advertised as Queen but was smaller than the headboard so was nota Queen. luckily there was also a single bed in the unit. We chose this Motel due to it being advertised as "Dog Friendly". When checking in it was noted on the form we signed that Dogs were not !! allowed in the unit. For us, travelling with the dog was precisely the reason we chose this motel. We are careful and polite, ensuring our dog only stays on his floor blanket, and doesn't roam the unit nor sleep on the furniture. I am not sure they should advertise it as dog friendly - as all motels will let a dog sleep in the owners vehicle.

I booked last minute and advised our arrival time and also updated that we were going to be a bit later. When we arrived at 9pm it was cold and had been raining. Our unit door was wide open as was every window. The unit was freezing. The heating was minimal and only in the bedrooms. The unit was clean and basic and would have suited for a stopover if it was warm and prepped for our arrival. It could definately do with a revamp. Nobody came to reception the next morning on checkout so the key went in the dropbox. I would have liked to make a suggestion about prepping the unit and also the dodgy heater but nobody was around. We would not stay here again.

I stayed here for one night and that was one night too many, i travel to Kaikoura every 3 weeks and stay over night, as it was a very busy time of year i could not get into my usual accomodation, and this was all that was available
The whole place is in desperate need of an upgrade.
The carpets were so stained i didn’t not want to walk on them in bare feet, the extraction fan above the shower was black & full of dust causing it to barley work, very basic no frills room.
first and last time i will be staying there.

Many motels I tried to book said that they were full, walking down the street the same places had signs with specials for that night, hopeless.l do not understand how people think that they get value for money at this sub standard motel,we paid $159 for one night,we were robbed, they didn’t say that they offered a discount for Gold Card,we sure don’t look under 65,I think they are just not interested in providing an pleasant service to the travelling person, the office person who gave the impression that he was the manager, said nothing just puts the fee amount into the visa machine, overpriced at $159 gives me a little bottle of milk the key and go find the motel yourself, never again just don’t stay here, give it a miss.It was clean but so so old,the shower was hopeless, there was just nothing nice about the whole experience of staying at this run down accommodation.

Older style of Motels which could do with a much needed revamp. Breeze Block style of construction which means that they need a fare bit of the old Heater to get units warm on cold nites .Room was ok for size and Bed was just ok ,Bathroom was functional but beware of the showers, they tend to go cold if you can't set them correctly. Electrically controlled units. Every thing seemed to be there, but if it wasn't for the price, I would not have stayed here. For a few dollars more, you can get a better place.

We stayed two nights. The unit was clean and comfortable and the staff friendly. It was a real treat to be so close to the sea that we could hear the waves at night and wander over to have morning coffee by the sea. Being at the pier end of the beachfront means it is quieter than some closer to the retail area but everything is still close. Would be very happy to stay again
