Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

The motel is in a very good location and there are a lot of restaurants within a 10 minute walk of the motel. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable and they was plenty of parking available. Check in was very efficient and the owner was very friendly and helpful.

We were impressed with the one bedroom room, with a tv in both the bedroom and lounge, albeit the sky box was limited to the lounge. Very clean with a decent size bathroom, and well equipped kitchenette. Decent amount of (free) parking and the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The only downside was the busy road. We were in a first floor room that backed onto the road, so even with double glazing the road noise was evident, albeit it did die down after hours, but no lie in if you are a light sleeper! So choose a room away from the road…..

Great Motel, super friendly owners accommodated us arriving late, and let us park our big trailer in a secure spot, even helped push and wheel chocks.

No complaints from us.

Nice and close to town for dining etc

We had a one bedroom suite ( double bed and separate bedroom with two singles) with a partial sea and mountain view upstairs. It was a lovely room.
The pool area was clean and had afternoon sun.
It was a short walk into town, either through the park and down the path by St John’s church or along the street in the other direction.
It was the little things that made this accommodation special - the cleanliness, full replacement of all free coffee, tea, milk and biscuits every day, friendly and helpful staff.
There is so much to do in Kaikoura. We’d recommend the peninsular walkway, the seal colonies, visiting the seafood bbq at Amers beach which is a shallow and safe swimming spot and the whale watching. The beach at the south end of town is also safe for swimming and there are some nice cafes on the walk back into town.

Having travelled for a few weeks it was the bath that lured us to this motel. We had a room at the front so the roar of lorries down the hill for most of the night wasn’t great. The Wi-Fi was patchy, I couldn’t log on at all, my husband could if he stood next to the window. The advise from reception was to ‘buy an android phone’, not particularly helpful. There is a lot of do and don’t, and a threatening note saying you’ll be charged an extra night if the room has a ‘odour’ and they can’t let it out, rather ambiguous. It was nice to have a bath but I wouldn't recommend as a relaxing place to stay, glad it was only one night.

We stayed one night on our way to Nelson. The lady on reception was very nice and helpful telling us where there were good places to eat. The room was very clean and comfortable and the beds were comfortable. There was parking in front of the units so the cars were off the road. As this is on the main road it was very quiet to sleep. Would consider staying here again when in Kaikoura.

The rooms have been done up very nicely but those that don’t have aircons really need a fan. It’s so hot that it becomes unbearable at night. Water flow is not great so to wash long hair is a mission. Bed was nice and comfy and the pool is the highlight.

Really nice motel. Room was large and clean with a small kitchen and free parking. Very near to Kaikoura town you can walk in 5 minutes and there is also a small pool on site. The reception was very helpful and gave us lots of information about what to do.

We had to leave. The room smells of dead seaweed. Bed was very hard. Pool was closed and parking was a problem. We had a midsize SUV and the parking was tight with some rooms getting parked in while you hoped no one was coming the other direction around the back lot to get to the inner car park

All the amenities were functioning. The room size was good enough. There were plenty of nice restaurants , convenience stores and attractions nearby. Parking was available and convenient. The staff members were attentive and helpful and gave us some great tips for sightseeing and shopping.
