Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed one night on our way to Nelson. The lady on reception was very nice and helpful telling us where there were good places to eat. The room was very clean and comfortable and the beds were comfortable. There was parking in front of the units so the cars were off the road. As this is on the main road it was very quiet to sleep. Would consider staying here again when in Kaikoura.

Having travelled for a few weeks it was the bath that lured us to this motel. We had a room at the front so the roar of lorries down the hill for most of the night wasn’t great. The Wi-Fi was patchy, I couldn’t log on at all, my husband could if he stood next to the window. The advise from reception was to ‘buy an android phone’, not particularly helpful. There is a lot of do and don’t, and a threatening note saying you’ll be charged an extra night if the room has a ‘odour’ and they can’t let it out, rather ambiguous. It was nice to have a bath but I wouldn't recommend as a relaxing place to stay, glad it was only one night.

A short walk into town so location was fine. Room is in desperate need of an upgrade, shower room was once used for a disabled person and the bed had an electric blanket on it! Never the less, the room was spotlessly clean and functional with plenty of space to move around and relax. No sofa but a couple of comfyish armchairs that have seen better days. Bed was comfy and had a good night's sleep. Great for an overnight stay and cheap as chips.

We had a one bedroom suite ( double bed and separate bedroom with two singles) with a partial sea and mountain view upstairs. It was a lovely room. The pool area was clean and had afternoon sun. It was a short walk into town, either through the park and down the path by St John’s church or along the street in the other direction. It was the little things that made this accommodation special - the cleanliness, full replacement of all free coffee, tea, milk and biscuits every day, friendly and helpful staff. There is so much to do in Kaikoura. We’d recommend the peninsular walkway, the seal colonies, visiting the seafood bbq at Amers beach which is a shallow and safe swimming spot and the whale watching. The beach at the south end of town is also safe for swimming and there are some nice cafes on the walk back into town.

Really pleased with our choice here. The unit was warm, clean & super comfy bed. It's worth staying here just for the much needed bath. The little kitchenette area had everything we needed. Just great !

Firstly, I had booked and paid for the deluxe one bedroom apartment. However, when we got there, it was a studio and no separate bedroom. The spa bath did not work. They offer a stove top in the room, however, you are not allowed to use it to fry anything, they do not have adequate ventilation for it.

Very pleasant one night stay in this spacious self contained motel room. I had a spa room which was a bonus. Very large room and plenty of storage. A five minute walk to main shopping area of town including plenty of restaurants. Easy walking distance to whale watching cruises. Car park right out front of room. I would recommend this motel and would use it again if ever in Kaikoura.

Comfortable Motel with plenty of space. Comfortable bed. Spa bath with a shower over bath. A little difficult to negotiate given our age. No restaurant. In-house breakfast available at a reasonable cost. Too far from town to walk.

What a fabulous hotel, everything was spotless, unfortunately we stayed here for 1 night before driving on to Christchurch. Would definitely stay here again. This motel is a credit to the owners. Located just outside of the beach strip, its a nice pleasant stroll into town. Best motel we have ever stayed in.
